Flash :: Prevent Text Displacement For Some Foreign Language Fonts?

I have a multilingual project (currently 13 languages), which uses many different font variations of "Helvetica Neue", mostly bold, condensed and regular cuts from the LinoType Pro font set ( which includes western european characters) and the same for cyrillic. We will probably add chinese and japanese variations in the future. I have set up the project to use different CSS stylesheets and separately load the fonts for each version, depending on which language the user selects, so I can have different line heights, kerning and/or font sizes to make everything keep the original look, even if the fonts look nothing alike.
All of this works well, except for one problem: For some reason, all cyrillic letters seem to be displaced. They appear 2-3 pixels below the correct base line, and actually protrude across the textfield's bottom border, even when the field is set to autosize. When I use textfield.getCharBoundaries(), all values seem to be correct, even though they obviously aren't rendered correctly.To make everything look neat, I could of course manually move all problematic textfields up or down according to language and font size, but I was wondering if there was some way to prevent or at least detect this kind of displacement in order to automatically handle the adjustments - the Flash Player should have some sort of information on how things are rendered, shouldn't i
I have embedded fonts "Frutiger 45 Light" inside my Flash library and hence into swf. This works correctly. Now I am loading texts from an XML file where there could be Russian language of texts. Flash loads it perfectly no problem. BUT when I try to assign text to a field.text property, it does not show me correct texts. It shows only some texts and most of other texts is disappeared. Here goes the code.

When I create a textbox by using textbox tool, I can embed the fonts and the Turkish characters with embed button (autofill). But when I create a text field by AS2.0, I can embed the font but text box shows only the English characters with my font.
I save my (embedded) fonts in an external file (fonts.swf) that gets loaded at runtime. Pretty standard. I also use a bunch of UI artwork generated in the Flash IDE. Some of this artwork contains static textfields (thus, not proper TextFields that can change. Just frozen glyphs). Here's the problem: if I use the same font in any static textfield and then embed that same font into my collection of runtime fonts, the runtime font will refuse to render. It's the same effect you get if you set a textfield with embeddedFonts=true to use a font that isn't embedded. If I change the static textfields to use a different font, the runtime fonts work just fine.
I have an app that generates text from the user's input (dynamic text box).The user is allowed to use Danish letters like '�' (the 'a' with the ring above / å). My problem is that the top of the ring above the 'a' is cut off by the upper part of the text box. So, I want the text in the dynamic text box to move down a little. But as we all know, dynamic text cannot be vertically aligned in the properties of the text box. So, what to do?
I have a dynamic text field that is not displaying foreign characters properly. They appear as boxes.
Here's what I've tried.
Under properties for the text field, I clicked on the embed characters button. In there, I pasted all the special characters I would need and clicked okay. Shouldn't this be enough for the text to display properly?

I am currently working on creating a multimedia presentation in URDU language. When I try to copy and paste the urdu text from word document into flash the sentence flow is not the same as in word ie from right to left.
i got this script from this tutorial. I tried to convert it from AS2 to AS3, but it seems like the displacement filter is only applied once for some reason. After that, the bitmap isn't updated.[code]

I have created a Flash file which will act as our company's standard presentation / portfolio of all previous projects. I've pretty much got it running the way I want, but I've just tried it on a few different computers and realised that the fonts aren't embedded. I've used our corporate font so it needs to look right. Having read the following documentation [URL] I now understand how to embed fonts for one dynamic text object at a time. However, I have a lot of different dynamic text objects in the file and I would dearly love to embed them all in one step! I'm having a really hard time properly using device-fonts for multiple languages displayed in the same app (at the same time).I must use device-fonts (cannot use the .embedFonts = true property) and I won't be masking, scaling or rotating or animating the text anyways. I'm not worried about the disappearing issues side-effects. I'm noticing that English characters are showing up correctly, BUT other characters aren't.[code]What I'm trying to do is display single words (or short sentences) from various sources and various languages. In other words.... many TextFields will be scattered near eachother, but each TextField will use one language independant from the other Textfields. I'm having some trouble getting my fonts to show up correctly. I have the fonts embedded properly, being read from an xml file. Attached is a screenshot - don't mind the terrible colors; it's all brought in through xml. The alignment of the text boxes are not complete, but I have the top headers set up properly, yet the right header is squished down.
We are working on a small project. The movie asks you to point out an animal, then when you point it out, it enlarges it and tells you what it is using a text box as well as a voice clip. We want to make the movie bilingual. So the splash screen will have the choice "English" and "Espaeol". If the user chooses english and then clicks an animal we want the item to be identified in english. So the english text box and english sound clip to show up. if the choice is spanish we want the item identified using spanish text and voice. Heres is the AS i have so far and it works beautifully. This is from before we decided to incorporate Spanish. As it is I have the text and voice on each individual MC timeline.

i have a text input box in which i want to insert Hebrew (RTL language) text. now, the RTL support i need is basic, and thats easy enough to do. however, for entering hebrew in the box, the user has to set hebrew in his windows language bar. is there a way of making the default input language in the box hebrew, regardless of what is currently set in the language bar? note - the hebrew characters are showing just fine, its just that to enter them you have to make sure the language bar is set to hebrew as well.
I've recently had to format my computer and now having a problem with the flash actionscript window: the actionscript text looks like bold, or in a different font. The problem is that when I search for something like "flash" and "fonts", no matter which other words I use, always comes a lot of things about fonts for flash files, or for flash embedding fonts, but never for the program itself. Wich font is missing in my system that flash CS3 needs?
I've been using Flash for a few years now and I've recently (5 months+) started using CS5 package.My query is how do I successfully embed accented latin characters into a "classic" dynamic text field in my compiled Flash movie that are called from an external text file. I've searched the various forums online and all the methods demonstrated have not worked.
What I've done so far is to to select my dynamic text field, click on "Embed" within the PROPERTIES area, choose the font and the weight, then add any of the foreign characters and/or glyphs to the "Also include these characters:" area then finish up and compile. When I run my SWF file, the glyphs and accented fonts are missing but all the other typical Latin characters show up.
I tried this same method in CS4 (because we have an old Mac in the office too), and almost the same thing happened except instead of completely missing out the glyphs and fonts, it showed a box (almost like an image placeholder) instead.

I'm trying to embed a handful of European language characters into a little flash news ticker (Swedish, Norwegian and some others).I'm embedding my swf file in the html and passing a FlashVars variable This is the text that the ticker displays.For some reason the swf doesn't render the character when I put a foreign character such as in the HTML. I have an array collection set as a datagrid's dataprovider. I'm pulling content from my relational database and 2 of the columns in the grid appear as foreign keys.
How do I go about replacing the foreign key id with information from the other table?
I'm guessing I need to do some sort of: for each, but I'm really not sure how.
