I want to convert text into American sign language (ASL). I am thinking of creating a set of videos first and then map to some words.
But is it possible to generate a sign language video through direct text by using a 3D model and making it to animate?
Im trying to convert a flash binary-decimal converter to another programming language (TI-Basic). I've got all of it down except one key part. I've got a solid backing of actionscript understanding but find myself unable to understand the following statement:

I realize that inumber%2 will return a value being the remainder of inumber divided by 2, but how can this be a conditional? "if (2) { }" doesn't work for conditonals im used to. Or if your a TI-Basic wiz

Reading in text from a text file and flash seems to refuse to display the pound sign (£). Tried doing the url encode thing (%A3) but his dosent seem to work either. Can anyone shed any light on this?

There are four languages needed so far, but this will grow so it needs to be flexible enough to let the developers add languages without getting a new SWF each time.
I have a multilingual project (currently 13 languages), which uses many different font variations of "Helvetica Neue", mostly bold, condensed and regular cuts from the LinoType Pro font set ( which includes western european characters) and the same for cyrillic. We will probably add chinese and japanese variations in the future. I have set up the project to use different CSS stylesheets and separately load the fonts for each version, depending on which language the user selects, so I can have different line heights, kerning and/or font sizes to make everything keep the original look, even if the fonts look nothing alike.
All of this works well, except for one problem: For some reason, all cyrillic letters seem to be displaced. They appear 2-3 pixels below the correct base line, and actually protrude across the textfield's bottom border, even when the field is set to autosize. When I use textfield.getCharBoundaries(), all values seem to be correct, even though they obviously aren't rendered correctly.To make everything look neat, I could of course manually move all problematic textfields up or down according to language and font size, but I was wondering if there was some way to prevent or at least detect this kind of displacement in order to automatically handle the adjustments - the Flash Player should have some sort of information on how things are rendered, shouldn't i

View 3 RepliesI created a contact form for this Flash site using Actionscipt 2.0 The problem I'm having is that when I try to enter the @ sign (shift+') I get quotation marks and vice versa as if I were using a Mac instead of a PC. This only happens in the contact form and works fine when entered anywhere else such as the address bar or a search engine.

I got my dynamic loaded text files into my flash files down...but the problem is it does not show characters such as the % sign.I thought I just had to add a slash before it like /% but it still doesnt work. All it shows is the slash.

The movie asks you to point out an animal, then when you point it out, it enlarges it and tells you what it is using a text box as well as a voice clip. We want to make the movie bilingual. So the splash screen will have the choice "English" and "Espaeol". If the user chooses english and then clicks an animal we want the item to be identified in english. So the english text box and english sound clip to show up. if the choice is spanish we want the item identified using spanish text and voice. Heres is the AS i have so far and it works beautifully. This is from before we decided to incorporate Spanish. As it is I have the text and voice on each individual MC timeline.

Is there a way to set a flag when the spanish button is pressed? For example, pressing the spanish button will set spanish to true, and I could add some AS when a frame is reached that said something along the lines of:

i have a text input box in which i want to insert Hebrew (RTL language) text. now, the RTL support i need is basic, and thats easy enough to do. however, for entering hebrew in the box, the user has to set hebrew in his windows language bar. is there a way of making the default input language in the box hebrew, regardless of what is currently set in the language bar? note - the hebrew characters are showing just fine, its just that to enter them you have to make sure the language bar is set to hebrew as well.

I put in a dynamic textbox and attempt to print something into it. but once i put in that textbox, i get the above error when i debug.
I have WYSIWYG text editor for flash. Works great. Allows me to edit text, save it as a text file and then load it either back into flash or alternatively into HTML. Problem is that Flash uses the <font> tag which is deprecated in HTML4 and will be removed in HTML5 due to CSS. Because bulge text distort each characters so i have to convert the text to bitmap format to distort. The problem is the quality is not good enough, especially when we resize the object.
