Flash :: Set Selection On TextField In Air 2.7 For IOS?
Sep 9, 2011
I am trying to use setSelection on a TextField in an air 2.7 for ios app. But the selection is not set and the keyboard does not appear. I understand that the 2.7 version encourages using the requestSoftKeyboard but this method is not supported on ios devices.
How can I change the select ("highlight") color of an TextField in actionscript 3? I've got an input textfield with white text on a black backdrop and as a result, selections are invisible, which is horrible for usability.
I have this textfield with multiline behavior and the problem is that when i select my text and then drag the selection down all the way to the bottom the text seems to scroll.
I don't really know what I'm doing I'm completely gone in my own code, I think I'm going around in circles!
[Code]...
Ok let me explain what I want to do: when my movie loads I want "textfield" to be focused, so I use Selection.setFocus(textfield); Fine! But on a frame before this I have a button to enter my site! Now as soon as you click this button it changes the focus so that when I enter the frame with the textfield it is no longer focused! Make sense? Well on this frame once the textfield is focused you can enter text right away! and then I have this listener which listens to an event within the textfield! Ok now I'm even more confused then when I started explaining this! Anyway I want the textfield to be focused when you enter this frame and if the user focuses something else, well then they will have to focus the textfield themselves. Basicly I just want the the textfield to be focused on load, but the problem is my button at the start! What?
I am trying to programmatically pass focus to a newly created TextField, but for some reason setSelection and setFocus do not work. For example, see my test code below:
The only setSelection that does anything is the 0,3 one on MOUSE_DOWN. I assume this all has something to do with the text field receiving focus with the mouse click,
I'm drawing a textfield onto a bitmap which I use as texture for a 3D object. I'm listening for Event.change, and so whenever the user adds a character I redraw the texture. But to really give the 3D object a 'interactive textfield feeling', I want to draw text selections and draw the caret (the blinking text cursor), but by default these a not drawn when using bitmapData.draw(textField), nor can I find a Event to listen for 'textSelected'.
//is there any event that catches text selection / blinking of text-cursor? textField.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, redrawTexture); //... //is there any way to draw text selection / text-cursor in the bitmap? bmpData.draw(textField);
I never realized that fl.getDocumentDOM().selection doesn't retain the selection order... <sniff>. I was hoping to build relationships based on the order. I guess I took if for granted that tools like Maya and Max store the selection buffer in order of what was selected. I'm trying to avoid: Select Object, <Press 'Parent' Button>, Select Parent, <Press 'Parent' Button>
i am attaching a number of _mc (my_mc) with a for loop. Inside each my_mc is an input textfield (my_txt)I want to click on my_mc.my_txt and select the textfield .the following code allow this and i can enter text from the keyboard however I want to add text from a _mc keybooard on screen (here called myBtn_mc).As soon as I click on myBtn_mc of course I lose focus ... i have tried to use a variable (select) to keep scope&focus
i would just like to ask why is the case that when i use embedfonts = true on a textfield, the textfield's text only resizes according to the textfield's height but not the textfield's width. meaning if i make the textfield's height bigger, the text also gets bigger in terms of height, but not width, can't the embedded font maintain aspect ratio according to the textfield height?
I'm only wondering about this because this is not the case when embedfonts= false
I have a dataGrid in Flex to which data is added dynamically using dataGrid1.dataProvider=myArrayCollection;The DataGrid is non-editable and defined in mxml as [code]The data in myArrayCollection definitely does not contain duplicates.I am not able to select any row except the last. This occurs when I overlay the AIR 3 SDK on my copy of Flex
I'm in the midst of creating a Bumptop styled selection tool. Right now I got as far as creating the tool itself (which actually works pretty good) and spreading some random square items on the stage. This is the class that creates the selection tool :
What event is called when you click on an editable field to edit it, and then click off of the field? in a datagrid using Flex 4? If I'm not making much sense I'm trying to make a datagrid where you can edit the fields and once you're done editing those fields the application calls an event listener which triggers a save method.
Usually when I make a shape I can select it with the selection tool and lots of dots appear on the shape showing that I have selected it. I was playing around with some key commands and I think I accidentally did something now when I select a shape it ha sa thin blue outline. Can someone please describe what this means and how I can change from this to the other option?
I want to create a custom list in Flex for an interface prototype. The list is supposed to have an image and 3 text fields. This is what I have done so far, the control displayed is what I want. But, when I click on one of the items, the item does not appear (visually) to be selected. I was not sure how I would implement this.
i got a s:List with a dataprovider and a custom itemrenderer. now my itemrenderer has a button within. Every time i choose a item from the list, i get focus on the item, but clicking the button within the item only causes the s:List to select the hole item and wont let me press the button within the item.
is there any solution to disable the "list" selection functionallity but keeping the items within the list enabled / clickable?
I would like to recreate the flash selection tool's functionality. To clarify, I created a drawing program that uses the drawing api. Now if a user draws a circle, I would like them to have the ability to stretch and mold it like you can in flash by hovering close to the edge so the ) cursor shows up.
I'm new to programming AS 3 and Im trying to create just a simple puzzle game for learningI am trying to make it so when someone selects a puzzle piece, it becomes selected with a box around it that is dynamically created depending on clip size. I tried adding the clip that was created to be a child of the movie clip that is selected, when I went to drag it though it selected the shadow box instead.
I have a simple input box with an on-screen keyboard. When I type into the box using the on-screen keyboard (adding characters to the box programatically) the Selection class overall isn't letting me control the input.I'm assuming this is a scope issue of some sort. The input belongs to one class while the onscreen keyboard belongs to another. Is the Selection glass global or is it class-scoped? Even when I pass a reference from one class to another and request Selection.getCaratIndex() from the class that generated the input it continually returns -1 which is not correct. The kicker is I can make a new AS2 document, put an input box on the screen, add text to it (all programmatically), Selection.setFocus() the input, run Selection.setSelection() to the last index of the input and Selection.getCaratIndex() returns the valid number. So there's something funky going on when classes are involved.
The only way the Selection class is working is if I use a real keyboard or mouse click, then it works fine. This isn't very useful in an on-screen keyboard context however. Are there any mines I should avoid when using the Selection class in an application where multiple other classes are involved? Is Selection really global or should I worry about scope with it?
I have an editable mx:Combobox. I want to catch two events: When a user enters some text, or edits some text. When a user changes the selection (selects an item from the combo box).Is it possible? I have been using change event, but it is fired in both cases and I can't differentiate it. Is there a better way of doing this?
How would I achieve the following in AS3 or AS2.0. You have 5 sentences, you can select any of them with click button, they get stored somewhere in your flash file then you move on to something else like a movie playing and at the end of the movie you are presented with a screen showing the sentences you selected before...
I'm a designer working in tandem with a PHP programmer on a project where we will display a random image via flash from a selection of images stored on a database. Accompanying this image is a tagline and a path for a button and these variables are sent via a php script. The actionscript then picks up these vars via loadVars and displays them on screen - well, almost.
The tagline is displaying in the dynamic text box with no problems, but I'm struggling with how to display the image in the empty MC I've created (called 'pic') and also to attach the path to the button I've created (called 'projectURL_btn'). I'm fairly sure it's something fairly simple but I just can't crack it.
I'm looking to send a list of variables (say 6 in total) from php to flash and for flash to pick a random one and send it back to php when clicking a button.
I would like it to appear in a dynamic text box. That randomly selected variable needs to be sent back to php on pressing a button.
