I have this textfield with multiline behavior and the problem is that when i select my text and then drag the selection down all the way to the bottom the text seems to scroll.
I am trying to use setSelection on a TextField in an air 2.7 for ios app. But the selection is not set and the keyboard does not appear. I understand that the 2.7 version encourages using the requestSoftKeyboard but this method is not supported on ios devices.
How can I change the select ("highlight") color of an TextField in actionscript 3? I've got an input textfield with white text on a black backdrop and as a result, selections are invisible, which is horrible for usability.
I don't really know what I'm doing I'm completely gone in my own code, I think I'm going around in circles!

Ok let me explain what I want to do: when my movie loads I want "textfield" to be focused, so I use Selection.setFocus(textfield); Fine! But on a frame before this I have a button to enter my site! Now as soon as you click this button it changes the focus so that when I enter the frame with the textfield it is no longer focused! Make sense? Well on this frame once the textfield is focused you can enter text right away! and then I have this listener which listens to an event within the textfield! Ok now I'm even more confused then when I started explaining this! Anyway I want the textfield to be focused when you enter this frame and if the user focuses something else, well then they will have to focus the textfield themselves. Basicly I just want the the textfield to be focused on load, but the problem is my button at the start! What?
I am trying to programmatically pass focus to a newly created TextField, but for some reason setSelection and setFocus do not work. For example, see my test code below:
The only setSelection that does anything is the 0,3 one on MOUSE_DOWN. I assume this all has something to do with the text field receiving focus with the mouse click,
I'm drawing a textfield onto a bitmap which I use as texture for a 3D object. I'm listening for Event.change, and so whenever the user adds a character I redraw the texture. But to really give the 3D object a 'interactive textfield feeling', I want to draw text selections and draw the caret (the blinking text cursor), but by default these a not drawn when using bitmapData.draw(textField), nor can I find a Event to listen for 'textSelected'.

What I have is a dynamicly created row of movieClips. In which TextFields are added with text that's received from an Array. What I would like to be able to do is click on the movieClip that's visible and have the code understand I clicked array[3] for example and it will show the 4th array item in another textfield.
I have a dynamic textfield on my stage with the instance name trackText.
I have declared public var trackText:TextField;.
When I trace trackText.text it gives me exactly what I expect but the actual text on the stage does not update.

Letter spacing doesn't seen to work for dynamic text fields in Flash. I use CS4 on Mac, player version 10.0.2. Does it also depend on the font that's used?

I never realized that fl.getDocumentDOM().selection doesn't retain the selection order... <sniff>. I was hoping to build relationships based on the order. I guess I took if for granted that tools like Maya and Max store the selection buffer in order of what was selected. Im currently creating textfields in a for loop - though in this example only creating one TextField. My questions is, how do I remove the TextField child in another function? When a user enters a number into the page count it makes a calculation and places the outcome into the dynamic textfield. This textfield is for the individual price.All of this so far works. What I want to do now is create another dynamic textfield for the total. So the individual price is multiplied by the quantity and this result is put in the new dynamic text field. I have the code for that working but here is where it gets tricky (for me anyway).The total price is to start off invisible. When I roll over the individual price the total price is to appear (For a test lets just say when I roll over an area the total price appears).To stop cursor flickering this should be done inside a movieclip. So... I have create a movieclip and placed a dynamic textfield inside it. They all have instance names BUT how do I reference it in script?I need to tell the resulting calculation to be placed inside the textfield which is inside the movieclip. I'm trying to make a text effect where on every frame the textfield increases in size and decreases in opacity. I'm using the scaleX and scaleY properties of my dynamic textfield to enlarge, but it's doing so keeping the left registration point fixed. I want to make it scale up radially outward, or with the center point fixed.

I want to set the text field on the fly for txtName, so I add a little ActionScript (3!) that does it nice and easily: txtName.text = "Foo";reat. I have this weird thing happening with flash and a dynamic textfield. Basically, someone rolls over a marker on a map, and a tooltip pops up with a dynamic textfield. The textfield is set to multiline=true and wordwrap = true, and I defined a specific width of 160 pixels.
The problem is, some of my text is jumping to the next line, some of it is just getting cut off. So if I have a line like "The Cat Jumped Over the Box", On one line I will see "The Cat Jumped" and on the next line I would see "the Box". It looks like it is masking out the "over" line and not pushing it to the next line.
It's not doing this for everything, just some longer lines. This is a really weird bug and I have tried for 8 hours to get this fixed. Has anyone ran into this problem before?
HTMLText is displaying really strangely. I'm displaying a textField with htmlText provided through XML, and in this bulleted list it'll display the first line all on one line, keep going off the end of the textareas size (ie. not do multiline) until the last word of the bullet, then put that word at the start of the next line. And it'll put the last word on the next line no matter how long your bullet item is.
eg.
myField.htmlText = "<li>Seek the input of experts</li>;
Would output
'seek the input of
experts'
I've checked and this thread was similar however I've removed all my tweens to test and it hasn't had any effect.
what to do about this? I've tried these to no avail:
i have a movieclip containing a dynamic text-field in it. When movieclip is stretched using transform manager, the text stretches. i am developing a component. Moreover,Event.Resize can not be used as Event.Resize is the Stage event. it does not work for movie-clips and sprite.Putting it in Event. Enter Frame works but that hangs the whole CMS when this technique is used.
