Flash :: Dynamic Textfield Multiline And Wordwrap Acting Funky?

I have this weird thing happening with flash and a dynamic textfield. Basically, someone rolls over a marker on a map, and a tooltip pops up with a dynamic textfield. The textfield is set to multiline=true and wordwrap = true, and I defined a specific width of 160 pixels.
The problem is, some of my text is jumping to the next line, some of it is just getting cut off. So if I have a line like "The Cat Jumped Over the Box", On one line I will see "The Cat Jumped" and on the next line I would see "the Box". It looks like it is masking out the "over" line and not pushing it to the next line.
It's not doing this for everything, just some longer lines. This is a really weird bug and I have tried for 8 hours to get this fixed. Has anyone ran into this problem before?

Is there a way to show a long text in a dynamic text field with multiline attribute = on, without word wrapping? E.g., A dynamic text field contains 2 lines, and multiline is set to on. If I try to display a text in the text field, it is wrapping at the word, thereby losing some space in the text field (see code below):

The display is showing only "One Hundredyear" in two lines, and the rest of characters are below the visible text area. The issue here is in the first line there is only "One" displayed, leaving a lot of space. If I can accommodate more characters in the first line, without word wrapping, the second line can accommodate the rest of the characters.

I'm trying to change the height of a wordwrap textfield. When I change the width property everything seems to work properly (the height is increased if width is small). But when I try to change height, nothing happens (I would think that the width will increase if height is too small). Here's the code

I have a bunch of text I am working with from XML and when I import it into my text field it becomes automatically indented on the first line. Is there a way to lose this indent? If I take off word wrapping it does make the indent go away, but then of course the text spans across further than the text field horizontally.
Here are some of the properties I have assigned to the text field I am using:

when I put WordWrap on in an input textfield, all characters off the width of the textfield get put on the next line. However, when I look at the htmlText property of that textfield, I see no evidence of such a line break.I've learned that's because it's a soft line break, and not a hard line break. My app has a feature that requries me to know the number of lines in the textfield. I had been calculating this by simply scanning through the htmlText property of the textfield and counting up the presence of "</p>". However, the wordwrap soft line breaks don't leave any evidence of such in the htmlText property

I have a TextField with multiline and word wrap enabled, and a fixed width. I want to calculate the total height of the text inside it. I tried using TextField.textHeight, but that gives me the height of one line. Because of the wrapping, I can't easily calculate the number of lines to multiply it with the line height. TextField.height just gives me the fixed, default height of the field, 100 pixels.

I use AS3 which I keep separate from my fla project.
I have a contact page and the textfield where you type your message is an Input textfield with multiline and textwrap enabled. The height of my textfield allows for 5 lines of text, then you will have to start scrolling after that.
I use a my own scroll bar nested in a movieclip with instance name "txtScroller"
The Input textfield instance name is "messageText"
What I want to do: I want to hide the "txtScroller" mc and show it when the user has typed more than 5 lines of text (using enter to break to a new line, etc).
Now for my problem: The first part of the code works, the "txtScroller" mc is hidden, and I have even tested it with the trace function (see code bellow).
I can for the life of me NOT get the the second part to work, the part where i want to show "txtScroller" mc again. I've treid with the trace function as well but it shows nothing in the 'output' pannel (see code bellow).

I want to search a word in a textfiled which is multi line , finding it is not a big deal but am i able to scroll to that position , like notepad when you click find next it will jump to that point

how to do the SUBJECT? Is it even possible? As soon as I put the textfield multiline, I cannot align it to right at all. The help only writes about left alignment in multiline textfield.Does somebody know some workaround?

Does the TextField class support automatic vertical centering of multiline text? Any way to control vertical alignment other than "flush top"?
It seems like it ought to, but if there is a method or property in the class that turns it on, I can't find it. (Maybe a case of not being able to see the trees for the forest, there's so much junk in there, plus the TextFormat...)

I have the following composition from my designer:
So, I have to load these two HTML paragraphs from an XML file and put them in two actionscript created text fields. The text fields are multiline, wrapped and html and they are displayed just fine. Then I have to hilight one of the textfields just like in the image above so I must define a function that takes this textfield as an argument and creates a movieclip behind it. All I have to do further is draw some lines in this movieclip.
The problem is I just can't detect the newline characters in the text field so I can draw the hilights from the start of each line to the end of it.
Here is my function:

There would be .indexOf("") method of strings but if I use it after sapou_txt.text this has no result because, apparently, all I have there is a string without any special newline characters, just as I loaded it from the XML file, minus HTML tags.
If I use sapou_txt.htmlText apparently I get the original text including the HTML tags but, again, no special newline characters and, as you probably realised from my description above, I need both newlines from HTML (wich are not so hard to detect) and newlines caused by wrapping text in the textfield. Anyway, if I succeed in detcting newlines in the text field then I won't need the newlines in my original HTML.

I've looked for the solution to my problem on SO, Google and Bing, but to no avail.
NB This is regarding AS3/CS5 on Windows 7 Pro x64. I have a SWF that loads another SWF in AS3.
Yesterday morning it was working fine. Then I made a bunch of changes to another SWF, completely separate, and to some XML content files and the next time I ran the project the second SWF started to flash and scroll through its content once it was loaded by the first SWF.
I couldn't figure out what I did to cause the problem and have NO clue!

I am looking for some creative examples for interactive methods to navigate a tree hierarchy. Conceptional ideas or some good Flash/ Silverlight/ HTML 5.0/OpenGL examples of such navigation would be great. I'm not concerned with the technology at this stage.My problem that is that I need to deliver information to a user in the form of a questionnaire hierarchy. Consider each node in a tree hierarchy as a question where each question answered takes the user to the next level down in the hierarchy of the tree were there are a further number of question(s) to be answered. At the very last node, there will be the final solution. I have found this useful(url...). I would like an interactive version of this with each node been expanded to show further nodes etc.

I am generating the following text box and the data in it dynamically:
_root.createTextField("recipe"+i+"_txt", _root.getNextHighestDepth(), 5, 100, 600, 400);
The problem I am having is the text that is generated only stays on one line and therefore doesn't fit into the text field. I know there is a way to add the multiline property to other types of components but can this be done dynamically?

I am using Flash CS3 and AS2. I have a dynamically generated text string that is displaying in a multiline dynamic text box. This dynamic text box is inside a container movie clip which contains everything that I want my user to be able to print (other dynamic text fields, graphics etc.) When I view my swf on screen it displays exactly as I intended - if the text exceeds the text-box length, then it word-wraps. But when I print the container movieclip, the overflow is hidden and does not wrap to the next line.

I have a text field with a set height and width and that allows word wrapping. When I add text to it, I dynamically change the font size until the height of the text is smaller than the height of the box, allowing it to properly fit. The problem I am running into is that the box is fairly thin by necessity, and some longer words (like "Australia") are broken during the word wrap. So, perhaps "Australi" will show up on the first line, and "a" on the second line. However, because they satisfy the height requirement, they aren't shrunk any more. I need a way to detect this and continue shrinking these cases so they fit without the break. Here is the code for dynamically shrinking the text to fit the height[code]...

Is there a way? I need to give a thumbnail that I'm changing the size of a border, but to simply place a background movieclip behind it and resize it along with the thumbnail stretches out the borders and makes them all blurry. Is there a way to change the size the background movieclip so that it retains it's normal-sized border?

Is there a way I can stop a single word splitting over two lines when putting dynamic text into a fixed width, multiline text field?I have a simple method of checking if there are more lines than words and then running a while loop to reduce the font size until there are the same amount or less lines than words. But this doesnt always work, if say the final word of three is quite short and the second word splits over two lines then I still have 3 words and 3 lines.

What I have is a dynamicly created row of movieClips. In which TextFields are added with text that's received from an Array. What I would like to be able to do is click on the movieClip that's visible and have the code understand I clicked array[3] for example and it will show the 4th array item in another textfield.

Reference objects on stage/frame from document class. AddFrameScript seems to do what I need it to, except for one thing. In the function I'm passing to be added as a frame script, I want to dynamically create some event listeners for buttons, but variables I want closed over the listener functions aren't behaving as expected -- they all end up having the last assigned value of the variable rather than the value it had when the function was defined, as if different scope rules are in effect than normal:

I have a dynamic textfield on my stage with the instance name trackText.
I have declared public var trackText:TextField;.
When I trace trackText.text it gives me exactly what I expect but the actual text on the stage does not update.

trackText.text = audioPlayer.currentSong.title;

but the text on the stage still says "loading..."
