View 2 RepliesI'm brand new to to trying to add xml to my flash files and have just completed the displaying xml data tutorial on kirupa. I followed it fine, and tailored it for my needs, but now I'm a bit stuck with what to do now. The current file displays the first record, that's fine, but I want to show (for example, the 3 most recent records, on after each other. These will eventually go into a scrollable movieclip, but my problem right now, is how I get more than one record displayed. [URL].

View 3 RepliesI am building a website for an online store in Flash 8. I needed to use a dropdown menu for selecting the size of a clothing item, so I just used the default ComboBox component. I thought it was working fine, until I came across a strange bug (with the component, or my own code) where the ComboBox was not showing the current selected item.
The dropdown's list works, and shows all the options, but if you click on one, it doesn't get displayed as the current selection in its TextBox. The weird thing is that it still works fine, and I can access the data ok. If I use myComboBox.text I can access the current selections text, even though Nothing is being displayed.
Has anyone come across this before, and has any suggestions for what I am doing wrong.

There are a number of other things happening the same time as its adding the items to the comboBox, e.g. loading images, creating movieClips, etc. Could loading this be causing the comboBox to not function properly.
I have an application with webcam, chat and more, and i need to record the screen aplication in server, for the client not have to upload the result. What I want is to know how to record the images shown in the Flex application (only inside the swf).

Then I would add mulitple instances of this class with different names (not through code, just drag them and give them names). then through a mouse event listener, I could go through and check to see the instance names of the "selectionBox" class. Problem is, how could I do this? I dont know how to check instance name.

so im thinking perhaps if i add some sort of bytes total/bytes loaded script where its trying to load up and display the image it will check if the image is fully loaded before it tries to display the image think that will work ... if that's what the issue is

I designed a website for a company recently, and had a preloader screen for it.Now that its uploaded,when I visit the website, the browser downloads all the data first before displaying it, alright.But the preloader screen doesnt appear. When I simulate download in the swf, it shows the preloader screen properly.The AS on the 1st frame is something like this:

I'm using Flash CS5. I have created an Input Text box, but for some reason, the only numerals that apear on the screen when typed are 0, 1, and 2. If one types 3, etc., they just don't appear.
Also, I have a dynamic text box for which when I do the following, it only shows "lease type a number from 1 to 12." with no "P".

I'm having a problem with embedding games in my website.[url]...
It shows a loading bar whilst the game is loading, but when I embed this same swf url into my website using swfobject (or even with plain old <object> or <embed> tags), the loading bar never shows up, and instead a white box the same size as the flash game is shown, until the game is loaded!
I need to know if a popup (which is a singleton titlewindow, hence would be initialized only once) is already shown in the screen or not, if not then i will call a function to show it up, otherwise do something else.I tried findPopup.focusEnabled //findPopup is the titlewindow class for popup But it is always true irrespective of whether the popup is shown in the screen currently or not.
View 4 RepliesI am having an issue with my project showing up to the left side of the screen when I look at it on the web. how to center the project in the middle of the page. Here is another blunder I am desperate for help with. another project I am working on I screwed up by editing the timeline for EVERYTHING inside the movie clip instead of the timeline. now when I export this to be a mov. file it only plays for like a second. so I fixed that and copy and pasted the timeline from inside the movie to the timeline on my workspace. everything is showing up on the bottom right of the page.

Problem: I push multiple strings into an array, and some of the strings are the same.

I want to find out which element positions "Snivvle" hogs up. We can see that it would be using element 0 and 2, and if we do an "indexOf" we would only get to see element 0, and doing a "lastIndexOf" we would only see element 2. How do I find out ALL of the element positions "Snivvle" is located in, so that it returns: element 0, element 2.
I never realized that fl.getDocumentDOM().selection doesn't retain the selection order... <sniff>. I was hoping to build relationships based on the order. I guess I took if for granted that tools like Maya and Max store the selection buffer in order of what was selected. View 6 RepliesI develop failover fms application with server-side action script. But i have a problem that FMS can't continue to record stream with record mode "append".
Environment: FMS 4.5.1 r484 on CentOS 5.5/6.0
Goals:
I have 2 same data streams in failover application and republish primary to livepkgr application.
I have to store of last 10 hours intact recorded video (DVR).
Failover app logic:
1. I create NetConnection and NetStream to livepackager;
2. When primary stream is connected it attach the primary stream to livePackager NetStream
3. If primary stream is disconnected it reattach the backup stream to livePackager NetStream
Problem: I have testing environment. It stop primary stream every 5 min, and started primary stream 5 min after stopping.
It work's, fine, but after a few hours testing LIVEPACKAGER falls. It can't record a stream, NetStream.Record.Start -> NetStream.Record.NoAccess -> NetStream.Record.Stop
Search a solution: I try to relaunch recording process and have no success. try to shutdown/start livepackager, it's same, try to restart server, same no success.
I cant stream.clear() or record with mode "record" cause it clears my dvr cache, I cant clean stream directory in livepackager application.

I have an AIR application that will go full screen when the application starts:
stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN_INTERACTIVE; The stage size is 2560 x 1024. And I have 2 moniters (1280 x 1024 , 1280 x 1024) When I start the application, it shows my application on one of my moniter only.
I need the left side of the stage to be shown in moniter 1 and right side of the stage to be shown in moniter 2. Currently, both sides are shown in moniter 1, and in moniter 2, it shows nothing but my default desktop. *The blue color line is a divider for better visual purpose. How do I make the left side of the stage to appear in moniter 1 and right side of the stage to appear in moniter 2 when the application starts in full screen mode?
Is a command for AS2 to make my movie file play fullscreen (stretch, fit to screen, anything).
goFullScreen(); is great but it leaves white bars left and right. What's odd is that I'm using Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder and it seems to display a perfect widescreen that I want as an input and output but once compiled in flash, it's more square leaving me with white bars left and right. The frame for the video in flash is also widescreen looking.
edit: I ended up stretching the width of the frame but if there is a better way through a command that would make my life easier so I don't have to adjust to every monitor that I run this on.

I have this code that activates when rollover, rollout, and release. I functions for rollover and rollout works, but the release function does not. I'm trying to pass some strings with url's to the function within a loop.

View 2 RepliesI have an external interface call which I need to pass several values to. Each value has an indentifier string and the value itself.
Code: ExternalInterface.call("submitIUR", answers +"promo", promo+ "url", nextUrl); The problem is that when I pass this through to the javascript function, flash concatenates the identifier strings. So for example if promo is 12345 when passed through the "url" indentifier gets tacked on the end so I get 12345url.
Is there an easy way to separate out the variables being passed through to stop the strings being tacked on to the variables?
My question is what needs to be done in order to make a .swf file go into full screen without falling to a black screen when a movie is played? I have tried coding it, however I come up with the following error.

I'm creating a flash site. I want the flash movie to fill the entire browser window. What size should I make the canvas, I've been experimenting with sizes and a canvas size of 750*370 fills my browser well on a resolution of 800*600
How do you accomodate different resolution settings? What's the most commonly used canvas size for this type of project.

View 1 RepliesI am working with a function that converts csv data to a multi-dimentional array. I am then going through the characters to find specific situations in the way the strings are handled in the array. One example is if I have a string like - "this is a string, yeah" - then I make sure not to count the comma in the string because it is between quotes from that string. Anyhow In the following function I have some how lost my spaces in the results.Instead of getting "this is AS3" I am getting "thisisAS3". Spaces seem to only be available in the strings that have quotes.
