Jun 10, 2011I have a client who needs a Flash video to stream from a website, the video which is being made from powerpoint slides is roughly 22 minutes long. With the voiceover it's gonna be pretty heavy. Way too long to stream correctly from my experience so in order to do this right I need to know which way to go here.
I broke up the fla's into 4 ( 5 minute .swfs)I finished the first and I'm working on the second .fla. the first fla was published with the html wrapper let's call it v1.swf.on thelast frame of v1.swf I used the loader class to load the v2.swf into the wrapper when v2.swf ends it will loadv3.swf all the way up to 5.
So far this works using the two .swfs which are on my server and are streaming.Before I continue I just to make sure I do not do unecessary work I need to know if the way I plan on doing is correct or is there another way.

Jul 7, 2011I had a developer who has been working on [URL]. He build it using all flash. I need to make changes on the website, but it seems like he is out of business. They don't answer their phones or emails. The website is hosted on their server, and I don't have the FTP details. I can mirror or copy my site onto my local computer, and re upload the site to a real company. I have access to my domain, so I can just point it to a new server after I have downloaded the website files to my computer.

Sep 4, 2009I am a complete novice when it comes to flash and web design in general. I have purchased a flash template [URL] which I have been able to customise to my liking for a small production company. I am now completely stuck when it comes to integrating videos within the site.
I understand that I need to have an Xml playlist and some action script that references the videos to the player, but I have no clue on what to do.
I am looking to have a video begin as soon as the site loads and then have the buttons on the orange bar allow the user to navigate between other flv files. I would possibly be interested in including firther links on the video samples page.

I have the following code one my first button:

For button two (the xml file which visitors can use to populate the blank website they have downloaded) I have used the following code:

However, rather than giving the option of saving the file (which is what I want) the file opens in a new browser window.

Feb 26, 2010I'm setting up a website and im using flash as a menu, but my problem is when I click on a button to go to a new page it redownloads the flash files, not just the menu but also my flash banner.
This only happens the very 1st time i click on the menu but its still very annoying having to wait for it to redownload again when it should already be there saved.
The problem does not happen if I use the html links on the page just the geturl links from flash.
Professional :: Stream A Live Webcam On Website?
Aug 25, 2010I'm not sure if this is the right place to post but here goes. I'm looking to stream a live webcam on my website and have no idea where to start. I've been searching for a while and various things refer to Flash Media Server but this is costly and, as I will be streaming from University, it will probably be blocked on the network or take up too much bandwidth.
Does anyone know of a way to stream a webcam, without FMS or Quicktime Broadcaster etc.? Any free websites that provide this service could be possible, so long as the stream isn't available to anyone outside my website.

Media Server :: Cannot Play HTTP Sample Video And Dynamic Stream On IIS Default Website
Aug 4, 2009if I repeat this IIS topic, I couldn't find the answer to my problem any where on the internet. I installed FMS Dev 3.5 on Win 2003 Server with IIS 6.0 enabled. I don't have any issue with port 80 Listening, I used the IP address 192.168.0.21 for my web application (IIS) and 192.168.0.22 for FMS (I only have one network card and port 1935 is open under firewall). I can play the sample videos (RTMP, HTTP, and Dynamic Stream) using the Flash Media Start Screen (or from the location C: Program FilesAdobe Flash Media Server 3.5webrootindex.html) without any problem.
I then modified the IIS Default Website to look at the "webroot" folder (C: Program FilesAdobe Flash Media Server 3.5webroot). From IE, I can access the default web site by enter http://192.168.0.21/index.html. The website loads up correctly, and the RTMP video is playing perfectly. However, if I click Play Video (HTTP) or Dynamic Stream (tab), I receive "Connection Error. Please press Play to try again." I look at the log file (access.01.log) and see the error log "Session disconnect

Media Server :: Only FLV Files Will Stream, Not MP4, F4V Or Mov?
Apr 16, 2010I've finally been able to display a stream inside an SWF but only from FLV files on the FMS server. What on earth do I have to do to play other filetypes FMS supports?
This plays alright:
nc.connect("rtmp://myDefaultFMSserver.com/vod");ns.play("sample");
This doesn't:
nc.connect("rtmp://myDefaultFMSserver.com/vod"); ns.play("mp4:AdobeBand_800K_H264");
Neither does this:
ns.play("mp4:AdobeBand_800K_H264.mp4");
Nor this:
ns.play("mp4:media/AdobeBand_800K_H264");
I'm using the FMS default installed testfiles....
Media Server :: Some .mp4 (h.264) Files Will Not Stream Using Fms?
May 21, 2011I've made several mp4 file using Camtasia for Mac. No matter what settings or player I use the files won't play. Encoding them from Camtasia Windows version works just fine. I assumed this was a question for Camtasia/Techsmith but they're saying there is nothing wrong with the h.264 files Camtasia for mac is encoding and says this is an Adobe/FMS issue. I'm using the latest Camtasia version and FMS 3.5. I've used several different players and they all play mp4 but not the ones encoded in Camtasia for mac.

Jun 1, 2010i feel like a fool right now. i'm working on a streaming (rtmp) player and i can't get it to stream .flv files. .mov .mp4 stream fine..
it sees the flv fine , loads it. runs the logic, but it never fills the buffer. it just hangs on "event.info.code: NetStream.Play.Start"
the .mov / .mp4 buffers and plays fine.
i've tested the flv with other player so i know it works.
i made and flv player that dosn't play flvs.... what a fail

Media Server :: How To Stream Files From Default Location
Feb 26, 2010According to flashmediaserver_3.5_config_admin.pdf (FMS 3.5.3), FMS determines the correct directory to use for streams in the following order:
Virtual directory (as specified in <VirtualDirectory>)
Storage directory (as specified in <storageDir>)
Default location (the streams folder in the application directory)
So I created a folder called streams in C:Program FilesAdobeFlash Media Server 3.5applicationsvod. I thought this folder would be the default location for the sample application vod. I did not change any configuration settings for the application vod. Everything was set by the FMS 3.5.3 installer. I copied sample.flv into C:Program FilesAdobeFlash Media Server 3.5applicationsvodstreams and renamed it to sample6.flv.
rtmp://{fms ip}/vod/sample6.flv d
Did not play in the sample video player installed by FMS 3.5.3. Is this a bug or the default location "streams" folder is simply not "default", you have to set it somewhere in XML?

May 5, 2010In my .smil file, if I put this line it works: <video src="sample.flv" system-bitrate="150000"/> But if I put the following line it doesn't work: <video src="mp4:sample1_150kbps.f4v" system-bitrate="150000"/> Both video files are in the webrootvod folder. I am using the sample dynamicStream.smil code, so my syntax should be right.

When I view the .swf on my computer the slideshow works perfectly. But, when the slideshow is put on my website the delay is not correct, meaning some pictures transition too fast or sometimes too slow, depending on which computer/browser is being used.
I have tried publishing the file in flash versions 7 - 9.
There are only 15 pictures that need to be loaded, each less than 50kb, so I don't think that really matters. The file size of the .swf file is less than 1kb, so I don't think that has any effect either.
So, I was wondering if there is anything that I may need to add to the code to make sure that things flow smoothly? Or is there some publish setting that I need to change?

Swf Files Are Not Reading On Website?
May 31, 2009I recently made a website and the links for the main page do not seem to link properly to their rightful pages when I put the site online (but it does work well when Im just testing the site on my computer in my Flash program) I know that the website I made is very large - so I was wondering if that could be a reason for why the pages don't load properly - also one of the pages links to another site and although that seems to work on my swf when I play it in my Flash player - it doesn't work when I put it online-
Finally my sound quality is not that great for the site. The songs are in mp3 format - would it be better to make them .wav files?
Or are all these problems related and its just that my computer does not have enough power to convert this massive flash website into a proper swf file? If this is my problem. What do I do?

Media Server :: Can't Republish To The Same Live Event After Deleting The Existing Stream Files?
Dec 22, 2011Say I got a live event called game in "C:FMSHOMEapplicationslivepkgrevents\_definst_game" and push a MBR stream for awhile and see the ".stream" files being created, everything works good.
However whenever I stop the stream, delete the contents and try to republish another stream to this event name never recreates the '.stream' files or stream directories.
1. Delete the files "C:FMSHOMEapplicationslivepkgrevents\_definst_gameMsadsaasa.str eam","C:FMSHOMEapplicationslivepkgrevents\_definst_gameMsadsaasa .stream".
2. Delete all the stream directories - "C:FMSHOMEapplicationslivepkgrstreams\_definst_game1", "C:FMSHOMEapplicationslivepkgrstreams\_definst_game2".
Is this normal behavior or is there a default waiting peroid before reusing an event name? Should I only publish to a liveevent name once?

One which is the home page (with a few keyframes for some navigation to an about page and contact page) and 3 pages each a different skill page. Each skill page displays 3 examples of work that I coded using keyframe navigation. I want to be able to click on one of the skill pages from " home" and have it load the new SWF created from the "webdesign" fla... I can't find any answer anywhere for 3.0 actionscript. I have this code so far, but it just writes the new SWF over the old one.
