Flex :: ArrayCollection Fast Filtering (one Chart At A Time Is Not Option)

I have the following situation: have a screen with 4 charts, each being populated with 59 array collections. Each array collection has 2000+ data points. This construct needs to be filtered(by time), but the problem I'm encountering is the fact that it takes a long time for the filtering to finish (which is to expected given the amount of data points that need to filtered).
Filtering one chart at a time is not option, so I wanted to ask you what do you think would be the best approach? (should I use vector instead?). To generalize this question what would be the best way to filter large collections in flex/as3?
I'm new to Flex and am using TileList bound to an ArrayCollection. The array collection is empty at load time, and then updates with the results from am HTTPService call. The problem is that the item renderers aren't being rendered as expected, I'm guessing because there was no data when they were first rendered at load time. Here's simplified example:
I am trying to show BOTH the date and the time in Flex 3.5 Stock HOLC (high, open, low, close) Chart. This data shows up but not in the correct format... Problems:
1. The time are out of whack.. they do not line up with proper time.. (is it because they are not military time)?
2. The dates (days) do not show up on the bottom labels are all, is there a way to make this happen?
3. The times show up with large gaps... in the 24 hour period... Is this always the case when the data is not there for the time? Or, can I disable specific time periods like is possible with "disable days"
I'm trying to prevent a default chart item roll over highlight in a Spark column chart.If you look at any of the chart examples on this page , when you roll over any of the chart series items, they turn a darkened shade of their original colour. This is what I want to prevent.
So far I have had no luck with using the itemRollOverColor property, as this only allows you to set it to one specific colour for the whole chart (my app has several different coloured series on the chart at once). Also, trying to leverage the itemRollOver event (with preventDefault() etc) hasn't worked either.
I'm trying to make chart which is combination of bar and line chart using Flex Charting API . Here x axis would be common and y axis would be different. note that y axis got different range of value one is % and other is amount. Any one got idea how to make this chart. Here line chart would be staked on top of bar chart . The line chart and never over laid or drawn on top of bar chart.
I have a dynamic text box set up called 'circle'. Each time the movie loads I want it to display different text.
Currently, I have
Actionscript Code: _root.circle="hello","nice to see you", "hello, again"; on the timeline.
Unfortunately, when it loads it just sticks with the first 'hello', instead of choosing one of the other options. How can I tell flash to display a different text option each time?

I have an Air app that downloads a data set of around 100`000 objects and puts the objects in an ArrayCollection.I would like to apply various filters to the data set in numerous screens throughout the app. am a little worried about possible performance issues if I make multiple copies of the collection. However, if I don't copy the collection any filters applied will be reflected in all the screens and this is not the behavior I need.
I have a advancedDatagrid with column headers having input text boxes for filtering.The column is filtered according to input text when I use characters as data inside that column.But when I use numbers in the column field,filtering does not happen.Can anyone tell me what went wrong.
I've got Flex 4, Zend and php. I've set up paging in my datagrid but how do I do server-side filtering? I have about millions of records so obviously can't do client side filtering.
I have some xml and I am trying to filter it using e4x. My e4x statement looks like this: model.config.source.fees..fee.(@min<amount).@amount
My xml looks liks this: <flex><fees> <fee type="credit" min="0.00" max="200.00" amount="6.00"/> <fee type="credit" min="200.01" max="370.00" amount="10.00"/> </fees></flex>
When the e4x statement is run, I get an error message: Error #1065: Variable @min is not defined. But if I change my statement to model.config.source.fees..fee.@min it will return an xmllist of all the min attribute values, so min is defined, at least in that statement. Why doesnt the original statement work?
In Flex 4 I have a list where every product in it is rendered through an ItemRenderer. Now, when I filter the list I want to fadeout the products that are removed. I can't add the fadeout effect to the hideEffect of the item renderer since renderers are being reused. Anyone a valid (easy) solution on how the fadeout the products correctly.
I want to draw stock price in real time as a candle graph. I get open flash chart from someone and it looks good at drawing. I don't know how to update the candle graph in real time (using Ajax?), and is it a good way? I use Python a lot. But I cannot find tools as easily to use as OFC.

I want to build an application using air. The application should load the flashlog file and display the contents after performing some text filtering.But when i load the application this clears my flashlog.txt though my file mode is READ.I can understand that running my air application clears the flashlog and prepares it for new logging. Is there a workaround for this.I dont want to open the flashlog file everytime and check for traces from my web application

What I would like to accomplish is: I have a list of messages in a Datagrid coming from a dataprovider in another class, which in turn gets them from our Oracle DB. I need to all the user to set a visible state on the message, and then filter that out of the datagrid with the click of a button. I have the check box for hide, and it sets that value into the database. I can't figure out how to get the filterFunction to work with an array collection when the filter parameter is within the row data.Here is the code

How can I Create an animated Bar Chart or Line Chart type of component in flash programmatically, which should depends upon an incoming XML data, the chart should have the basic criteria like, Chart Label, Item Tooltips, background grids (without using any image). There also needs an ability to change the data which should reflect the chart as well.
i have a problem using the itemRenderer functionality. When using an ArrayCollection the visible Data in the DataGrid using the itemRenderer will be rendered just fine. But if i start scrolling the entries are repeating in the cells using the renderer. The cells are not filled with date according to the id. What mistake i'm doing here.

the applicable differences between an ArrayCollection and a Vector in flex? I'm unsure if I should be using one over the other. I saw that Vector is type safe and that makes me feel better, but are there disadvantages?

My group is working on a Flex/AS3 scientific web application that is data intensive. Luckily the only plots involved are line charts. However, each line chart may have multiple traces (up to 24), and each trace may contain up to 2000 points. The user will need to zoom in and out and interact with the data (e.g. data tips, etc.).
The response I'm getting from developers is that's a lot of data to render in a plot in Flash. For reasons beyond the scope of this post, we can't sample the data to reduce the size (this has already been done and nature of the data prevents further sampling).
Rendering speed is critical for this app. What kind of rendering speed should I expect the Flex 4 line chart component to provide for a given number of points (e.g. 1 second to render 1000 points?)
Are there products available that handle plotting large data sets better, which can be incorporated in Flex (I've seen FusionCharts and ZingCharts online but have no idea how they compare with Flex's components)? Of those, which are easy to develop with while still providing a lot of flexibility in look and feel?
I have a control which contains many child elements (about 1000), and I need to sort them.Now I doing that like this:

But this is too slow! How to reorder the childs by my criteria as fast as possible?
