Flex :: Display The Contents After Performing Some Text Filtering?

I want to build an application using air. The application should load the flashlog file and display the contents after performing some text filtering.But when i load the application this clears my flashlog.txt though my file mode is READ.I can understand that running my air application clears the flashlog and prepares it for new logging. Is there a workaround for this.I dont want to open the flashlog file everytime and check for traces from my web application

I need to have a Text Area With Line Numbers, & once the Text File is Imported to the Text Area.. the user must be able to select the line numbers & see the filtered output.
I have implemented the same with Numeric steppers. I am in search of an enhanced component.
are there better Advanced Components for Textarea ? Any Advanced Textarea component with built-in Search/Replace/Filter Capabilities ?

So i think i have fully coded my calculator but it still doesn't seem to be performing the calculations correctly. I can't see where i am going wrong. If i perform a calculation let's say 6*2 it outputs NaN then i straight away + by let's say 5 it outputs NaN again. And it doesn't make the operators display only once, so if i click on '+' twice it will display twice in the display when it is meant to only display once and in one of my functions i cleared the display field so that it would replace the number's when the next operation is performed but it doesn't seem to be doing that. I have been going over the code several times but i can't seem to identify where the problem is coming from.

I have a requiremnt where my Air application loads ZIP files instead of swf.The zip contains all swf ,images and other files.My requirement is when user browses for file in a browse dialog, user selects a zip file and the contents of this zip file should be displayed to the user.

Once I met a task to put filter (blur for instance) onto only a part of a display object.As for bitmaps I just made two of them: filtered upper and unfiltered lower. And then just masked the filtered one with a proper shaped mask. It worked.
As for random display object, the same idea is coming. Draw the display object to some bitmap, put that bitmap higher and mask it with some shape.

I have a block of html text which is displayed to the user in a TextArea. Currently, the I have embedded the HTML as an XML object within one of my classes, but this seems like a terrible design. I would like to put the HTML in an embedded file and load it into an XML or String object.
I've tried to search for how to do this, but my searches return information on embedding images and fonts, not text which can be loaded into Strings.
Is it possible to embedded text or xml files and load them into variables in Flex?

I'm playing around with a messaging type of application. Does anyone know how, or of any tutorials on to "appending" html text to text areas in flex and flex mobile projects? And specifically how I could take that and basically "append" a sprite inline to the text when i need to? I've made a file that reads my URL string and posts it on a text box named queryString and my URL parameter is posted on that text box.
Waht I need to do now is filter that information into 3 diferent boxes, ex:

here is how im trying to load a text file:[code]news_txt should contain some random words from the text file (which is external and i can't edit it)-- so is there anyway i can import random lines from the file. right now, the news_txt displays (iraq0Akilled0Amilitary0Aamerican....) i want duplicate movie clips of news_txt to display one word each from this file (randomly).

Kirupa's tutprial "Using XML in Flash CS3/AS3" when filtering the node values, how can I match a text string say "Stephen" with "Stephen E. Ambrose"

Using the above code it only searches the node which author value is "Stephen E. Ambrose" but I want to search only "Stephen" and want to get this node returned.

The author shows a function that is supposed to trace the contents of any display object. In his example file he has several nested movie clips on the stage and everything works just as it should, this is the code.

Seems like something easy, but I don't see it in the docs. If I have a movieClip or sprite that is 200x200, and I generate an object that is 300x300 and add it as a child of the original mc, how do I clip the bounds so that I don't see content outside of the original mc? Do I have to create and apply a mask?

I have an Air app that downloads a data set of around 100`000 objects and puts the objects in an ArrayCollection.I would like to apply various filters to the data set in numerous screens throughout the app. am a little worried about possible performance issues if I make multiple copies of the collection. However, if I don't copy the collection any filters applied will be reflected in all the screens and this is not the behavior I need.

I have some xml and I am trying to filter it using e4x. My e4x statement looks like this:
model.config.source.fees..fee.(@min<amount).@amount
My xml looks liks this:
<flex><fees>
<fee type="credit" min="0.00" max="200.00" amount="6.00"/>
<fee type="credit" min="200.01" max="370.00" amount="10.00"/>
</fees></flex>
When the e4x statement is run, I get an error message:
Error #1065: Variable @min is not defined.
But if I change my statement to model.config.source.fees..fee.@min it will return an xmllist of all the min attribute values, so min is defined, at least in that statement. Why doesnt the original statement work?

In Flex 4 I have a list where every product in it is rendered through an ItemRenderer. Now, when I filter the list I want to fadeout the products that are removed. I can't add the fadeout effect to the hideEffect of the item renderer since renderers are being reused. Anyone a valid (easy) solution on how the fadeout the products correctly.

I have an Image control in my Flex application:

Because the image is scaled, there are a lot of scaling artifacts. Can I change the image to use a different type of filtering?
