Flex :: Daisy-chained ListCollectionView Not Reflecting Changes To Filter In Source Collection

ListCollectionView is often promoted as a great way to daisy-chain different views of the same data. You have some source collection and then use ListCollectionView + filterFunction to wrap the source data and present a subset of that source collection. When the source collection changes (either adds or removals), the chained LCV gets updated automatically. However, if the filterFunction for the source collection changes, it does not appear to propagate to the chained LCV:

At this point, I would expect justMatts to receive a CollectionChangeEvent and rerun its filter. Since all Matts have been filtered out of the source object, justMatts would be empty as well. However if you look in ListCollectionView code, they don't handle a CollectionEventKind.REFRESH which is what gets fired when source gets a new filter applied. Am I doing something wrong here (using wrong class, etc) or does nothing in Flex support the changes to source filter.
I can get this working as I expect it to by manually dispatching a CollectionEventKind.RESET on source, but I was hoping to not have to subclass anything.

I'm using this AC in a repeater to display each error. After each error is shown, I've placed an "Accept" and "Deny" button. Once the user clicks either one of these buttons, I'd like to call a function that removes the particular error from the AC. Here's what I have so far:

However, my data provider is a ListCollectionView that I use to filter items. When I set a filter criteria, it will hide a couple of items from the TileList but there is no animation like when I remove an item. Is there a way to animate the TileList when an item is filtered ?
I have an (empty) ArrayCollection that I wrap with a ListCollectionView. Then I add a series of items to the ArrayCollection, but these are not showing up in the view.

transactions contains 150 items, filteredTransactions contains none. I originally thought it was the filter I was applying, but even when I remove the filter, I still get no items in the filtered list.
Do I need to add the items to the view as well as the underlying collection (this would seem to defeat the purpose of using a view though...)?
LinkeSetFx has its own CollectionEvent, but I don't know how to map the LinkedSetFx event to mx.events.collectionEvent(I want use it in ComboBox). i have a Air Project in which i have added three extenal source folders. but when i reopen project or strat flash builder again i get icon on those folder like this but when i open the configuration for that project and try to validate the path and adding it again i get message like this but the path is valid. proof is this pic what could be possible error,,, is there any way that i when ever re-open project i get no warning and able to navigate through the linked source code. now i am doing it
When I get a collection back from the service tier, I create an ArrayCollection and apply a sort. When I add an item to the collection later on, the sort is still in place? It seems to be the case. I thought I was only sorting it once, not applying a sort that will stick??Here is the method for adding an item:

In my flex application im using two datagridfirst datgrid is for items collectionssecond is for bank details.if i click one row in first datagrid (which has the items collections)...a unique code is taken from the grid(which is primary key).then, i have to select two or more banks using itemrenderer checkboxes in second datagrid(which has the bank details)ow, have to bind the bank details(one or more banks) with that one primary key in first datagrid. to an single array collection... and have to show it in another new datagrid(thirdone)
I have a video playback system that runs in a loop as it traverses the playlist of videos, doing something like this:On playback start:

The way I have it coded/hacked works fine, but is less than ideal, especially as I plan to build on it. It looks something like this:[code]So, what's a better way to handle this? For an interactive timeline/map I've made in the past, there were a number events that were triggered at certain times during audio narration. Each event was unique (some were animations, others were text labels that appeared, etc), but I unified them as classes with a common 'time' property and common public go() function, and threw them into an array. As the narration played back I would check the 'time' property of the next object in the array, and once it matched I would call the go() function for that event, increment the phase position (so I know which array index to check next), and continue.

I have a slider in my movie (depositAmount) and in the component inspecter it has Initial value for the slider. In my first frame I have an input field for depositAmount and i want the position of the slider button to reflect that. So if the min and max deposit amount are 0 and $10,000 respectively and the user inputs deposit Amount as $2000, I'd like to position the slider button 1/5th of the way across the slider. Is that possible? At the moment the slider button will just reflect the initial value position.

What I would like to do is add a custom 'stylename' to various components which I can then use to get a collection of these objects and therefore process their visibility property.
The idea is I want to hide various components based on what roles a logged in user has - I just want to make this flexible by adding an array of rolenames to a custom property or use the stylename property on a Canvas or Panel etc.

To achieve a zoom effect in our 2D flash game, we make the background of the game much bigger than the visible stage. This becomes a problem when the background is complex or when we apply a grayscale filter to the background. Is there a better way to do zoom? Or, is there a way to apply the filter to only a specific area of a movieclip?
I have a collection in Flex and I have sorted it by a date field, so the latest elements appear first in my view.
In order to do this I have applied a sort field like so:

Now I want to be able to use a cursor to findFirst() in that collection based on the id. However in order to do that I have to also pass through the published date in the findFirst() method. This is a real pain as I don't have the published date at that time, (or it's expensive to get).
As you can see I am having to get it from the modelLocator in my application, and basically look up the item...
Ideally I would like to pass a wildcard though for the date in the FindFirst() function, as the id is the only thing I care about when searching. However it seems it Flex I can't do that.
The other option that occurred to me is to resort the collection before searching, but that would cause my view to re-render (as it's bound to the collection) on the collections refresh event. Plus it seems rather silly to have to resort in order to search.

I have an array, crewPositionsAC that contains a list of position abreviatations - EP, PR, DR, WR, and so on. These positions are read in through an XML file each time my flex application loads. Also being populated from an XML is a project. Within a project, there are positions (a student assigned to a type of position listed within crewPositionsAC). These positions are not necessarily in the correct hierarchy order dictated by crewPositionsAC. I have all the positions within an ArrayCollection (positionsAC) with the following structure:
Then, the user can click a button to add another position. When the "Add Crew Member" button is pressed, the user is presented with a list of possible positions to add. Currently, I simply add another array to positionsAC. This results in the recently added crew member to placed on the bottom of the list. I need to take positionsAC and reorder it based on it's [2] item (role) based on the hierarchy defined in the crewPositionsAC. crewPositionsAC has the following structure:

Im trying to populate a tree control with an external xml file brought in via arraycollection but i need to group the xml data to display in the tree Okay my external xml file is called parts.xml and it looks like this:

additionally what i intend is for the user to have huge tree of parts and they select a node at the partnumber level and drag an drop it on to a datagrid where all the other tags of the part gets displayed.
Ive tried and tried many things without any luck. even now im thinking maybe if i looped through the array-collection and created a new array just for the tree to get it to display the way i need it, then when the user dragged and drop a part onto the grid i would have code that would look for that part number in the original arraycollection and add it to a new array just for the datagrid... i still dont know how i would create that new array for the tree!! cause the xml data is grouped by partgroup and then grouped again by parttype before you get the individual part numbers
I have an array collection that I would like to limit to say 100 items. I tried setting up a filter function where the return was:return (myAC.getItemIndex(item) > 100);but the value was always -1. For whatever reason it couldn't find the item, even though the item is definitely there.I'm able to do this with a while loop:while(myAC.length > 100) myAC.removeItemAt(100);
I have two xml files, defect. xml and employee.xml. But the files havea common field but with different names in each file. I want both the files to be merged in to a single array collection.
The structure of my defect.xml file is:

Now, if I give datafield as "employeeId" in the datagrid with defectList as dataprovider, I get the employee id of the corresponding Employee Name.
