i am working on an aplication using flex,adobe air...i have a datagrid with a XML as my dataprovider...during the execution of program my XML is updated....after XMl is updated and saved my datagrid should also get update..I have used Dataprovidername.refresh() method but it is not working.

I have a Spark List container whose dataProvider is bound to a result set coming back from a RemoteObject call. Pretty standard stuff.

The selectedIndex is associated with an HSlider, but that is not the problem. My issue is that I would like to automatically select a certain "preferred" element from the list (only initially...to guide the user).
I tried to do that in a creationComplete event but my data hadn't shown up yet...setting selectedIndex didn't work..
i have a Flex tree control and im trying to select a tree node 3 levels down right after the dataProvider is assigned with a collection object like the following.basically treeItem1, treeItem2, treeItem3 are the nodes in the tree and treeitem3 is a child of treeItem2 which is a child of treeItem1. Assume these treeItem(1,2,3) are referenced correctly from the collection items.
my problem is that if i wait for the whole component to load completely then select the nodes, it open/select/scrolltoIndex correctly. However, if i were to select the node right after the dataProvider is assigned, then it doesn't even open or select (basically the this.treeService.selectedItem is always null).

I am using a combobox to list the contents of a folder. With a button click I use that combobox.selectedItem to delete that folder. After I delete the data is still in the combobox. How do I go about refreshing that combobox?

Both have single columns. Selecting one item from Divsions datagrid should display members of that Division in the Members datagrid. But following code has some problem and Members of a particular division do not show up when respective Divsion is clicked.

The above works fine. I have a Flex DropDownList that is populated with deptNames. When I click the submit button, I am able to obtain the ID of the selected department without problem:

From the comment above, I see that adding person will indeed add the attributes of the person object to the datagrid, except that one attribute is a foreign ID (deptID) from departments.

My Flex datagrid automatically scrolls to the top when I update the dataProvider (ArrayCollection). I do not want this to happen, but I still want all of the objects to update. I am developing a semi-real time dashboard for a customer's management system, that will update often. If it scrolls to the top every time it updates, it will be very difficult and frustrating to use.I've attempted to use the following techniques to prevent this, none have worked.

I need to display DropDownLists in a column of a DataGrid in my Flex application. Here is what I am doing:
First, I have a item renderer function that creates a custom item renderer, and passes it a property that is an IList that will be used as the dataProvider of the dropDownList:

First, how can I call the init function when the renderer is created? Second, when I set the column's itemRendererFunction="rendererFunction", the app will not launch, a white screen comes up. But when I set itemRenderer="components.AudActionDropDownIR", the app will launch, but of course there is no data in the dropdown list.
The flex DataGrid colums are arranged alphabetically by default. I need to order the DataGrid colums as per the order in its dataProvider. The dataprovider is the result of the HTTPService . And the number of columns is not known to us . The number of columns depends on the HTTPService result.

Consider that it's quite possible that there is new data after refresh, so the selected index may no longer appear in the datagrid after a refresh.

Calling a simple refresh (like with a simple arraycollection as a dataprovider, or with a refresh on the Grouping Collection) does not work. Also re-assigning the arrayCollection to the Hierarchical Data and then assigning this one again to the Datagrid does not work (even with calling invalidateProperties() or validateNow()).

View 1 RepliesI have a multi-column DataGrid that I've populated only three of the seven columns with data. One of the columns are editable. The other three are not editable. What I intend to do is have the user enter data into the editable column. Once the data is entered, The other three empty non-editable columns will populate based on calculations done to the value in the editable column.The problem is that when I enter data into a row of the editable column, the data isn't being reflected as entered until I try to add a new row. Is there any way to get the value being entered into the cell right after it is entered without the user having to enter a new row?

View 1 RepliesI have a Datagrid with an ArrayCollection as DataProvider, the arrayCollection is partially generated by a remoteObject call, the dataprovider seems to works at least until I try to edit the field...By the RemoteObject I only receive an ArrayCollection with the field ip, but the datagrid looks for the fields ip, check and save...If I add/edit this new field it works, but only under particular condition

This code always work in the 3 points, so at the end of the call the ArrayCollection is always filled with the new values, but the datagrid refresh the items only in point #1 and #2.
What should I be using to pull information from either DataGrid or DataProvider Cells. I guess itemToLabel(), or getEditingData() doesnt work any more.

In a DataGrid, how can I force data() of all itemRenderers on visible rows to be called when I've made an update to the dataProvider.I'n the following the Grid isn't updated after pressing doSomething. If I have a large list the update is done when scrolling down and then back up again, or in the case of the TreeGrid i open/close a node.
