We have a small flash application that has an text box.
under OSX Lion, with flash < 10.3.. it works fine
with OSX Lion and Flash 10.3.. every character typed to it, appears twice.
Remove specific characters inside Spark TextInput while user typing on it, without this causing any distrbance like licking with mouse after the last character or alike.

I've got some text coming in from a database. I get:
' " " instead of single and double quotes.
I'm not sure that all fonts even support left and right double quotation marks (?).
at any rate... is there a relatively simple way to resolve this? maybe scanning the strings for the character entities and replacing them with single or double quotes?
does anyone know if Flash can recognize the ASCII entity number (e.g. ') more readily than the ASCII entity name (e.g. &rsquo?? That may be a moot point as i would have to somehow convert/replace with the entity number anyways..
We use a custom Air Install badge to install / launch an Air application directly from the website simillar to
TweetDeck
This normally handles the install of air if the user doesn't have it already installed.
However, after doing some cross broswer testing, it appears that when a user, (using OSX Lion and Safari or Firefox) tries to click yes when prompted to download the required Air they are unable to click either of the yes or no buttons.
I initially thought that it may have had something to do with the positioning so ensured that the z-index in the css was appropriately set but to no avail.
I beleive it may have something to do with the installer itself rather than my implementation as the same thing appears to happen on TweetDeck too.
Yesterday I installed OS X Lion on my iMac, and now my eyedropper tool in Flash is not working, and it is force quitting about every ten minutes. This is NOT good at all for me, as I am in the middle of an advanced Flash class at my college.

View 2 RepliesAfter changing the Flex SDK to 3.6 (from 4.5.1) so as to target Flash player 9.0.124, the project no longer compiles, producing spurious errors such as XML does not have matching begin and end tags leading me to believe that the compilation process is 'borked'.
This is a pure AS project, and so should have no dependency on the Flex SDK, howver, it seeems to be inextricably linked to the Flex 4.x SDK and Flash Player 10+. I have tried swf-version and -target-player-version in the compiler arguments, but there is still something I am missing to get this to compile for Flash player 9.
For example in Java you can do:List<Person> where Person is the object type.In AS3/FlexArrayCollection which takes any object type. Is there any way to create a list/collection of declared objects in AS3/Flex (or is it impossible due to weakly typed language)?

I succeeded in sending typed objects from a PHP application to a flex front-end using Zend_AMF as per this question. The problem I am facing now is that I would like to send a typed object from flex to PHP and on the PHP side, be able to receive it as a typed object instead of stdClass.
Here is the class in flex:

After some testing, I removed the namespace from the PHP object and moved it into the global namespace. This seems to have resolved the issue. I have tried setting RemoteClass to modules estingCTest and also modules.testing.CTest. $_eplicitType was then set to the same value for both tests. The result is that when I use modules.testing.CTest, this is the classname that Zend_AMF sees. If I use namespace notation, Zend_AMF sees modulestestingCTest, as all the slashes get stripped out. But how can I get this working with php namespaces?

It seens perfct but I can't see it work. The funny thing is that the custom currentBubble - with a dot after you see the code hints but a dot after pb100 - you see no code hints. Well not normal.

Is it possible to receive custom generic typed objects through AMF? I'm trying to integrate a flex app with an existing C# service but flex is choking on custom generic typed objects. As far as I can tell Flex doesn't even support generics, but I'd like to be able to even just read in the object and cast its members as necessary. I basically just want flex to ignore the <T>. I'm hopeful that there's a way to do this, since flex doesn't complain about typed collections (a server call returning List works fine and flex converts it to an ArrayCollection just like an un-typed List).

Irritatingly if I change the result handler to take parameter of type Object it works fine. How to make this work with the value object?
Is the same possible in ColdFusion? Currently I am using .Net/Fluorine to return objects to the client. Whilst in testing I like to pass strings representing the select statement and the custom object I wish to have returned from my service. Fluorine has a class ASObject to which you can set the var 'typeName'; which works great.
I am hoping that this is possible in Coldfusion. Does anyone know whether you can set the type of the returned object in a similar way. This is especially helpful with large collections as the flash player will convert them to a local object of the same name thus saving interating over the collection to convert the objects to a particular custom object.

After upgrading my OSX to Lion my videos on my portfolio site have been showing up as black. The sound is still there though.
I read that disabling hardware acceleration could fix it, but in Flash player 10.2 I was unable to click on the settings button that did that. I upgraded to player version 11 and I was able to disable hardware acceleration and my videos started working again.
Funny thing is that the youtube video player worked fine on both player versions, suggesting that there is something that can be done code wise to circumvent this glitch.
I am using bulkLoader to load dozens of SWFs into my Flex app, and all of SWFs are static (1 frame only). 'Everything' works fine, however, I'm not sure how to handle data from bulkLoader... I am getting MovieClip types for all of my SWFs, and I am not sure how to tell to Image or SWFLoader classes to use some of those MovieClips as source.

View 4 RepliesI've been working in CS5, with an older FLA I originally built in CS3. On the timeline, I have different MCs and button symbols which need to stay in the same coordinate position. Usually if I notice some sort of 'wiggle', I will go and check the position coords by hand, updating the x/y position by typing numbers directly in the Properties panel.
However today, I repeatedly saw the coordinates change -by themselves- after I typed and hit Enter. For example, typing '165' in the Y field changed immediately to '164.95'. With one symbol, this behavior continued, no matter what I typed, with the number changing by 10 pixels sometimes, every time I just selected the symbol. Not only was I not able to keep the symbols at the same coords (I tried making them all 164.95), the 'automatic decimal' numbers would actually change further, as I was trying to correct them. I was only able to resolve this by creating an entirely new MC symbol in the Library, and placing it on a new timeline layer.
I've noticed this sort of behavior before in CS3 and CS4 (the CS4 Alpha slider never wanting to go to 0 or 100%), but never to this extent, or as consistently. It's gone from an annoyance to a genuine problem in my workflow.
Is there a way to make the flash as3 compiler require static typing? I've got a bad habit of not doing it, and it'd be nice to make it throw compiler errors. In the publish settings for as3, I turned on "strict" but that didn't really change anything.

However, I am stuck with a problem: it is not possible to type in the Danish letters ������ in the application UI, it does simply not respond to these. This is probably because the letters were not embedded/included in the external font file (which is a swf), that the application use as a resource. I have tried to swap the font swf-file with a homemade one but it does not seem to be wellformed, since the application now does not allow any writing at all.

I've never seen this type of structure before and I'm having a heck of a time trying to search for it on Google - I've found what it means in just about every programming language except AS3.
I figured out how to get a TextField to maintain focus when the tab key is pressed (using an event listener on FocusEvent.KEY_FOCUS_CHANGE), but what I'd like to do is control the size of the tab character in the TextField so that it is equal to five spaces. (I would just insert five spaces when the tab key is pressed, however due to requirements this is not an option.) Is this possible?

View 6 RepliesI've noticed if I use initialize="myfunction()". Once "myfunction" has ran it will never be ran again if i use initialize. I need to reset a form basically. Or anything else I can use instead of initialize that will run the function every time.
