Flex :: Drawing And Binding Results From A Database Token?

I have been making huge strides in learning Flex and I am very much enjoying it, however,one thing I cannot find is how to bind results from a query in Flex. I have managed to create lists etc no problem but when I try to bind one specific value to a variable, it does not work.First off, here is my PHP function:

I'm having some trouble getting around a security restriction of flex. Saving a file is apparently an action that can only be invoked upon user interaction. The problem is that after my user clicks on the save button, I need to perform a database query to get the data for the file I want to save.
Because Flex works asynchronous, I have to make the database call and then catch the ResultEvent in a different function. In that function, I no longer have the user's mouseclick event. How am I then supposed to save this file?

Is it possible for recent versions of flash to directly (or thru Php) access (& update) data from a mysql database and display results based on the data?
So if my database were like this (math scores):User 13Jerry | 20Kane | 7 the flash output would be a bar graph like this (those hyphens would be bars in flash)
Is this possible these days? Google analytics does something like similar to this.
I last used flash somewhere in 2003/4. Never after that :-) I've completely lost touch.

Im writing an IOS game using AS3. Here's the problem- I have an image on the screen that moves around. When the image's y value goes negative (the image is partly off the screen), the frame rates bottom out. I've gone over my code pretty thoroughly, even threw together a few test projects just to experiment. In all the test I do, whenever there is an object that is off screen, even partially, the frame rates drop. It's making scrolling backgrounds impossible. BTW, I'm using Packager for iPhone and a 3G (not 3GS). Frame rates are normally 24 with no problems

I have a dropdown box that is used to select a Category. I need the Flash Application to send the value of Category plus the search string in my textbox to my Access query and return results for each product meeting selection criteria. The Flash Application is calling an ASP.NET web service which in turn queries an MS Access database.
To start, how do I define the category ID and search value in my Actionscript 3 code?I've placed a series of 12 or so objects that will be populated with the product description, title and price. How do I setup each field to be dynamic text associated with the title description and price from my query results? If there are more than 12 products returned by the query, how do I add an additional page of objects to house more than 12 query results?

i've seen a few good examples to save out a png of the current flash display area from a webbrowser from a flash, such as:[URL]what they normally do is stream the image data through a png encoder to a web server somewhere and then decode the image data back to current webbrowser and then trigger the web browser SAVE function, by prompting user to select a path and file name to save, like a download.however, the difference is when you click that save button, you can save your png image directly to a certain location with a fixed file name, such as on your local computer:

im new to this forum and kinda new to flash and php together...i have this project that would load a swf movie on a drawing board and user could draw something over then swf movie. It should be able to save the drawings to the database, so that the user could just load it for later use. for example if the user draws a zigzag line at frame 5 of swf movie and on frame 10 of the swf movie deletes the zigzag line and draw a circle and then saves it. then loads it later, from frame 1 to 4 of the swf movie the zigzag line should not show but on frame 5 to frame 9 it would show and on frame 10 shows only the circle. or just on the specific frame number of the swf movie it will show. like when user draw on frame 6 then on before or after frame 6 it wont show..the second one might be a bit easier to implement.
how do i save the user drawings over the swf movie? and how do i load it? do i have to save everthing (like x and y coordinates, movieclip names) in a textfile? and use that textfile to recreate the swf file drawn? what ways could i implemnt this? hopefully someone to could point me in the right direction.

This is more of a database design issue but almost everybody here uses database integration with their apps so I feel it is important. I am integrating AS3 + mysql + php and need to clear up the database design for multiple students results in various activities. Developing an online e-learning course with a "dashboard" or teacher control panel with all kids results in each activity. I have read the database design rules by Codd etc... understand the need for parent and child tables so information is relational and not duplicated etc... BUT I am not sure how to design the results part. Various students do various lessons with 10 activities which each give a mark out of ten. The table would be updating every few seconds as 10,000 users would be online at the same time
1. Would I create a results table with all the students results going in the same table ie: Tom would be the first row

I want to create a Flex 3 application running in Adobe Air that accesses an SQLite database and I need to keep this database in sync with an SQL server 2005 database running a website.Is this something that Flex supports or is it going to be a custom script? Also, has anybody done anything like this?
Edit: The synchronisation can be done on a daily basis rather than real time. The data will be read only from a front end perspective with a CMS to do updates on the website.

I have a mySQL database hosted I am connecting via PHP, I have 1 mxml file and 2 php files (I know I can use just 1 but I am learning and this was easier for me to use for troubleshooting). The issue is no matter what I change on the datagrid the update does not show on the datagrid unless I close out of IE and reopen it. I have updated the mxml code to only show the needed code for the program to run the update.
I am new to Flex and have an issue I hope you all can help me out with.

I am planning on using Flash Builder 4/Flex to write an AIR application which is primarily based around recording, storing and analyzing data.I'll be creating charts etc that need to update in almost real time.It's essential to me that the application be able to function without an internet connection so I need a local database of some variety,but I would also eventually like to build in online synchronization of the data where either database can be update each other based on newer information. Moreover, some type of encryption would definitely be welcome, and speed is a large concern
Synchronization: Primarily updates/additions/deletions will be done on the offline database, but ideally I want to have a web interface that will allow the same updates/additions/deletions and will be synced (beyond that I'm not sure exactly how to do it as I can model that based on what is most achievable).I'm wondering if there's any prebuilt engine that could handle the synchronization of 2 databases. I may end up having the web interface only be for additions, which would be significantly easier to sync.. and I may start that way, but i want to build with technologies that will best allow me to implement full online crud at some point.

Here is the issue: a client wants his entire equipment inventory accessible by persons navigating to his jquery mobile site. The inventory that exists on the desktop site was, as I understood, built with Flex. Is it possible to access this database for the jquery mobile site? I believe it is. I did suppress warnings in flex compiler using "-show-binding-warnings=false". But what I am interested to achieve is to suppress run time warnings (especially binding warnings - since I am getting data in model mostly in XML structures and it is fine for me if its unable to bind to its nested child nodes) in console (I am working on flex on Eclipse with the flex plug in). Is there a way to achieve it?

first one shows playheadtime of videodisplay and another is also used for same purpose. the difference is that when we are in add mode(decided from a flag variable) both should show current playheadtime using binding. but when we are in edit mode(again decided from flag) the latter label should remain static, to be more specific, the value retrived from database.how can I do that using actionscript. I tried ChangeWathcer but I found it a bit tricky. Is there any other simpler way or am I missing something. following is my code.

I want to load key/values configuration pairs stored in XML file. To bind a collection of data i know i need to use the ArrayList class, but the problem is that i want to be able to bind the loaded values using their corresponding keys and not by their indexes in the ArrayList object. For example i want to be able to do this :

I have a datagrid that gets its data from a webservice.When data from the webservice is retrived it calls the following function:

The intent is when I hit a update button, it compares arrRegOld with arrReg and see if any values have changes. The problem is whenever I change values on the Datagrid it changes on both the dataProvider and on both ArrayCollections.What should I do so that the binding applies only to one ArrayCollection?

I'm having some troubles with binding data. I have an application that contains a viewstack of components. Let's say I have comp1, comp2 and comp3 inside the viewstack. Each component, has its own data class --> comp1Data.as, comp2Data.as and comp3Data.as. All values in each component are binded to the corresponding data in it's data object.
A click in a control in comp1 leads to comp3, the same goes for comp2. Clicking a control in comp2 leads to comp3. When going from comp1 to comp3, comp3Data.as is initialized and and comp3 displays the binded values. When going from comp2 to comp3, comp3Data.as is also initialized but the binded values are not displayed...

I am using flex SDK 3.5. I have model.as and in it i have an ArrayCollection (name it arr_mod) which is Bindable.
From my mxml i link to this arr_mod in three places:
1) in DataGrid i set dataprovider={arr_mode} ...
2) in Button i add new item to the arr_mod this way: mx:Button .. click = "{arr_mod.addItem(new Item)}"
3) in textBox i want to add mx:TextBox text="{mySpecialCounterFunc(arr_mod)}"
note that in the Script of mxml arr_mod is Bindable as well as in the class definition in model.as
The problem is, that when clicking on button, mySpecialCounterFunc is not called! it should be called, since i use {} and this should listen to changes in arr_mod (a change that was made in the button should cause a new item to be added.. and than the listener to respond). While The DataGrid is updated correctly! By the way, if i change arr_mod to simple String or Int it works.. i.e. mySpecialCounterFunc is called Why??
