Flex :: Edit Selected Row When A Button Is Clicked?

I have a very simple DataGrid with 2 columns, some thing like this[code]...
What Im trying to do is to activate the edition of the selected row when the user clicks a button. So far I've been unable to find any example of how to do this. I already tried 6 or 7 different approaches but non works.
How do you get the selected row (NOT selectedItem) of a DataGrid and how can you:
Change the ItemRenderEditor or ItemRenderer on the fly of just that row.
Or enable the edition of that specific row without clicking it.

I need to modify the behaviour of an editable datagrid to this:
-Single-click on a row, doesn't make the cell show a text input field (only selects the row)
-Double-click on a row, doesn't make the cell show a text input field either
but
-Clicking a cell in an already selected row, shows a text input field ready to be edited.

How many of you guys are using "gotoAndStop" methods for your navigation? For example, I'm building a site where the user clicks the nav, and the nav turns a certain color, then when another nav item is clicked, that previously selected item goes back to it's original color, and the newly selected item changes color. Right now I'm using "gotoAndStop" for this but I'd like to know what others are doing. I'm trying to steer away from gotoAndStop and do everything in the code.

I have 3 buttons(say b1,b2,b3) in my app which are under the controlbaron clicking those buttons it will open new view(components)suppose if button b1 is clicked it should highlight the button b1(bg color change).how to go about this sorry if it is noob question as am new to this

I was able to set the text color of a selected LinkBar button by "disabledColor" style of LinkBar.Accordingly, I expect to set the background color of the selected button by "backgroundDisabledColor" style, however, it didn't work; and except "backgroundDisabledColor", I didn't see any other style that could possibly achieve this.

Is there any way to disable a few columns for a particular row in flex datagrid?
I have a datagrid with about 10 or more columns, say for example a few column names are: Item Id, Item Name, Item Status and VerifiedState. Initially I want the column Verified State to be disabled.
Now When the value of the column, Item Status is Review Passed for a particular row, I want the column VerifiedState to be enabled and editable. Is that possible in Flex datagrid.

I have 4 navigation button and like home, about us etc.... And i want to disable home when it is click and cannot clicked it until the user click another button first. means if a visitor is at home page then home navigation is disabled, and all other are active, and when they click at aboutus button then the pages goes to the about us page and the about us button is disabled and other get active. I've got about 6 buttons laid out, one on top of the other in a list format. In their normal state the buttons are grey in colour, when I rollover them, the buttons flash and turn to orange. Now, what I need to happen is this: I want the buttons to stay orange once clicked and only roll out back to grey when the user has clicked on another button in the list. I've been told that the best way to do this is via adding a listener, however I am a little unsure as to how to go about this. I've checked the flash help file and have a basic understanding of how listeners work...but can't really wrap my head around applying it to this situation. Perhaps I will need to have all the buttons as separate broadcasters?

I have tooltips in flex but when a component is clicked the tooltip disappears and the user has to move mouse out of the control and then back into the control to display the tooltip.
Is there a way to prevent the tooltip from getting destroyed on mouse click. I tried calling e.stopImmediatePropagation(); e.preventDefault(); on mouse click event of button. also tried handling and preventing tooltipEnd and tooltipHide events but they are not fire when the button is clicked.

I am using browseForSave() to give the user a chance to save a file before navigating back to a previous screen. As of now the cancel button on the save dialog just closes the save dialog. I want to see if the cancel button was clicked, and if so continue navigating back to the previous screen without saving. Right now the person has to save the file in order to move back. Inside a datagrid, I essentially want to create a "download button" itemrenderer to the right of the name of a downloadable object, resulting in something like the following link: [URL]
The download function operates upon the currently selected row and is called when one of the download buttons is clicked. Therefore, I am wondering if anybody knows of a way to select the row the itemrenderer button is contained within as the active row when one of the download buttons is clicked.

I have a menu with five nav buttons (atcually MovieClips). Each has three frame labels: "on", "stay", and "off". The rollover and rollout animations play flawlessly, but I'm at a loss as to how to give each button a sticky "active" state. Anyway what I need to do is have a movie clip finish playing when a button is clicked and then go to the frame label associated with the button. I hope I'm explaining myself ok. So if I had say 4 buttons Home Gallery About Contact If Contact is clicked then I want the Home page to play (Which is a fade out) and then go to Contact Page (which will fade in). Then If Gallery is clicked then I want Contact to fade out and then go to Gallery page and fade in.

I want to make a button (or graphic) active and visible if another button is clicked. But it must be invisible and unclickable before the other button is clicked. (this is a "find the differences between the 2 pictures game" and I want circles to appear over the differences that the user finds but only after he clicks it)
The button (or graphic) I want to become active has instance name of "sockcircle_btn" The button you click to make it appear is called "sock_btn"
In the first frame of the sockcircle_btn layer, this is my code

Pretend a button is selected - when that button is selected it goes to the active frame which shows that the button is selected.
