I am successfully using an Entity Container to allow users to enter a new contactIs there any way to control what columns are shown when the user searches for an Account Name? At the moment 5 columns are shown, but I would like to display different columns and change the display order.

View 0 RepliesI am struggling to come up with a way to efficiently manage Flex entities that have a many-to-many relationships between their JPA/Java counter parts.[code]Both of these entities can exist independently of each other and both have a 1:M relationship with the other. The relationship is not really owned by one side or the other.Within the application there are Flex UI's that sometimes want to see viewers based on movies and other UI's that want to see movies based on viewers.Currently both the Movies.Viewers and Viewers.Movies collections are lazy loaded by JPA which works fine. The problem is that every time I ask a viewer for it's list of movies, then they all get sent over the wire and then within Flex I end up with a bunch of Movie objects that (often, not always) duplicate the ones I already have there.
It seems inefficient at best and could likely cause errors if the duplicate objects are not dealt with.In my real application I have tons of these types of relationships all over some very large object graphs.It almost seems to me that the lazy loaded object collections need to be turned into eagerly loaded collections of foreign keys which are used to explicitly load objects on the Flex side of things. But this seems like I am writing a JPA provider in Flex! Is the correct answer to never store state in a Flex application? (Yikes)I should add that all my value objects have a UID that is created on the server side, so I could somehow use that to find/remove duplicates on the Flex side. But how?
In a Flex Mobile project I have a simple itemRenderer where I'm trying to create an "bubble" texting effect, similar to ichat or iphone (just so you get what im going for). But if the text is longer than the screen it runs off, rather than just going down a line.
If I set Group thats holding the rectangle(to create the bubble effect) and the label to 100% it works and keeps it from exceeding the list containers bounds, BUT the group is always at 100% and looks bad, I'm trying to keep the "bubble" JUST AROUND the text.
Anyway so, at the top of my itemRenderer I tried specifying:

And here's my layout I figured since msg_container has a width of 100% I was hoping bubble_lable_group would just not exceed that but...it doesnt...it just runs off. I tried setting a max width but that does not allow you to input percents. And just to say it 1 more time. I know if i set bubble_lable_group width to 100% it works, and keeps it from going off the edge, but then the rectangle "bubble" stretches all the way across and just looks bad.

I have a loop that goes through data from a book and displays it. The book is not consistent in it's layout so I am trying to display it in two different ways. First way(works fine) is to load the text from that section in to a panel and display it. The second way is to create a new panel (panel creates fine) and then add collapsable panels(nested) to that panel. Here is the code from the else loop.

I am creating an flex Air project,so mxml file will run. I have circles in one Big circle at one side and will be same on other side.
Now how to drag any circle from any Big circle to other side. Or it could be like any two container having circles, then how to drag and drop circle?
For one circle i am able to do drag and drop.But I want one Big circle on left hand side and one big circle on right hand side .And small circles with class names will be in these big circles.Now i want to drag and drop those small circles in big circles.Big cicles should not move. I'm currently working on a custom component which extends Canvas (let's call it SuperCanvas) ; it's basically a container that let you zoom & pan its contents. It would be too long to explain why, but I can't use scrollRect, so I was forced to declare a Canvas object (called innerCanvas)... inside my SuperCanvas (I know, not very nice =/) I would like to know if there's a proper way to "redirect" the creation of my component's children in this canvas.

The dataprovider is the result of the HTTPService . And the number of columns is not known to us . The number of columns depends on the HTTPService result.

In the game the ship should fire when the user pushes the spacebar button.To do this my KeyboardController class should make a new instance of the Bullet class on every tick when the spacebar is down.The problem is for some (probably simple) reason I can't extend the Entity or IEntity class. IEntity is an interface so I understand why I can't extend that, but I'm not sure why it's not letting my extend entity. Heres my code for calling the bullet constructor:

I am getting the values as ArrayCollection, but when i bind it to my Datagrid, i am not getting any values.... though the objects returned from PHP are fine.
I'm having some problems porting a palette shifted animation system from J2ME to Flash. The system is used within a game that construct characters from separate body parts for e.g. head, left arm, legs, eyes, mouth etc. These can then be tinted and animated. Each of these body parts is coloured using a look up table. There is the original palette, then there are 18 other palettes that can be used to tint the image. This way you can configure different looking characters without having hundreds of different images. Each palette has 398 colours, there are 18 different palettes in total.
Each body part contains a small amount of colours, usually around 10-20. Colour A1, Colour B1 etc... Then the body part can be tinted using another set of colours, for eg Colour A3, B3, C3 etc.. It's simply a 2D array. (I have screenshots that help explain if needed) Now I've been trying to use PaletteMap, without success. I believe it uses a full colour palette (i.e. 255 vals per colour), and can't simply change colour A1 to colour A3 etc.
I also tried threshold, but that doesn't seem to be fit for purpose. getPixel / setPixel is way too slow for my purpose. It needs to be pretty fast as each body part is animated. I have a lot of flash programming experience, but never at such a low level! I might have been using paletteMap / threshold incorrectly, but the adobe docs leave a lot to be desired!
1) I have a UI component that extends sprite. I am storing them in Arrays.

Has no effect on that UI components y. Neither does;
(Boxes[i] as UIcomponent).y +=5;
2) I am using Push Button Engine. How do I get an entity to display text? I don't see a Text component in the library.
3) Say I have a sprite or some class that extends sprite and I want to change its graphic to a different graphic, like BrownLeaf.swf for example. I have the BrownLeaf.swf in my ResourceBundle as;

How do you use flex datagrid lockedColumnCount for two columns?
For example, I have 5 columns of datagrid columns: A, B, C, D and E. I want the A and E columns to be locked and the remaining columns able to be scrolled horizontally.
On a DataGrid, setting alternatingItemColors will apply the color scheme to all of the columns of that grid. I'm looking for a way to define different alternating colors for each column.

What I am trying to do is hide an entire column if the content is all null.

In the sample above, sometimes all the data in the "Location Origin" will be null, so under the visible property I put a value which is either true or false depending on the data. But even when all the data is null and the visible property equals false, it still stays visible.

And I'd like a control that is visually similar to that. Currently the datagrid displays the object as:

Which is too horizontal for my case.
I'd like to put a TreeGrid in my application so that the columns can be sorted. If you refer to this sample application, you'll notice that if you
Open a branch node
Sort by one of the columns
Close that branch node
then the TreeGrid starts to get out of wack and duplicate columns start appearing and other columns start disappearing. What I would like is to have the columns sorted only by the outermost nodes.
One attempt I had was to run treeGrid.closeAllItems() before the sort occurred. However, this does not work, because a Sort Column event gets dispatched while closeAllItems is running, so the list gets messed up and listOutOfBounds exceptions get thrown.

Note: COlumn 2 is an itemRenderer which has a combo box.
I have 2 advanced data grids, one above the other. They both have the exact number of columns, and pertain to each other in the same way. But each is showing different data, which is why I split into 2 grids. However, on each one you can resize the columns, what I would like is to make it so that if you resize a column on either datagrid the same column on the opposite datagrid resizes as well, so they are both always lined up.
