ActionScript 3.0 :: Bitmap Palette Shifting Using 2D Lookup Table
Oct 29, 2010I'm having some problems porting a palette shifted animation system from J2ME to Flash. The system is used within a game that construct characters from separate body parts for e.g. head, left arm, legs, eyes, mouth etc. These can then be tinted and animated. Each of these body parts is coloured using a look up table. There is the original palette, then there are 18 other palettes that can be used to tint the image. This way you can configure different looking characters without having hundreds of different images. Each palette has 398 colours, there are 18 different palettes in total.
Each body part contains a small amount of colours, usually around 10-20. Colour A1, Colour B1 etc... Then the body part can be tinted using another set of colours, for eg Colour A3, B3, C3 etc.. It's simply a 2D array. (I have screenshots that help explain if needed) Now I've been trying to use PaletteMap, without success. I believe it uses a full colour palette (i.e. 255 vals per colour), and can't simply change colour A1 to colour A3 etc.
I also tried threshold, but that doesn't seem to be fit for purpose. getPixel / setPixel is way too slow for my purpose. It needs to be pretty fast as each body part is animated. I have a lot of flash programming experience, but never at such a low level! I might have been using paletteMap / threshold incorrectly, but the adobe docs leave a lot to be desired!

There are around 6-7 states in my application. Now, I need those changes to be made to all of those states. How do I do it? As of now there are multiple lines like this in one state :

Aug 27, 2010I have 5 Cairngorm Events that I am dispatching at the same time(one right after the other) - all of which call a separate HTTP Service. This works fine when I run the application locally however when I deploy my project to a Glassfish server, it only works intermittently, with the app hanging when it doesn't work.
My temporary work around to this is to chain some of the events together so less call are going out at once, but I don't really like this as a viable solution because it slows down performance.
Is there a maximum number of HTTPService requests that Flex can make at once before it hangs?

In this DataGrid column, I require number validation on only the data with the type="NUMBER" field set. The problem is, when I try to declare a NumberValidator within my PromptingColumnRenderer actionscript code, the view recycles the renderer, and the NumberValidator attempts to validate non-numeric rows. What is the best way to validate only the rows with the type="NUMBER" field set?

I tried using BindingUtils.bindsetter:

ActionScript 3.0 :: Loading MovieClips From The Library With Dynamic "lookup"
Nov 22, 2009I have a row of thumbnails with photos of people. When I move the mouse over each photo I want to load an "information card" about each person onto the stage. I have the card for each person as separate MovieClips in the library, named Card_person1, Card_person2, ...
In each thumbnail I have a property wich contains the name of that person, called "namn".
Now, I was thinking I could attach the same listener to all thumbnails:

Feb 16, 2010I made a simple flash video with Dreamweaver that would not play on my website and my ISP, EasyCGI said the script code was bad. So I made the flash movie again with Flash Pro using actionscript3. Now the skin shows but the movie still does not play and my ISP still says the code is bad. However if new version of application is released the user can still access the older version saved in the cahe. How can it be assured that whenever a new version of application is released the application is loaded from the server and not from the cache and at the same time data saved in the older version (in cookies) can also be accessed in the new version.

Dec 5, 2010I have a swf that I have created that make a few HTML posts. When I run and compile the swf locally, it successfully makes posts to my php code hosted on my domain. However when I then upload my swf to my domain, and then alter the embed tag to have a fully qualified path to my hosted swf, the swf will load correctly but it will make any HTML posts to my PHP scripts. The reason that I have an an embed tag with the fully qualified url in it, is that my goal here is to be able to place the html embed code on a number of different sites.
I have it working on a single remote site, and it has a wild card crossdomain.xml file in it. However when I try to apply a crossdomain.xml to any of the hosted sites, or to my computer locally nothing runs when the I use the embed with the fully qualified URL, if I just the locally hosted swf on my computer the HTML post work just fine. I feel this is related to the crossdomain.xml file, however I guess I'm not understanding some aspect of the security model.

- MOVIECLIP1, with more than 30 run-time drawing shapes that modify on enterframe.
- and MOVIECLIP2, wich should contain an exact copy of MOVIECLIP1 drawed data.
The point is that MOVIECLIP2 will be as a "reflection" or "shadow" of movieclip1. I won't need to do any interaction with it, only apply filters. Is there anyway that this can be possible - rather than having to draw the same shapes twice on both movieclips?
