Actionscript 3 :: Fluorine Request Not Being Made In Some IE Versions?

Apr 15, 2011

We have a really strange problem with a piece of Fluorine integration we've built. We have a form with a Captcha on it; the Captcha image is populated from a .Net/AMF webservice inventively titled GetCaptchaImage.ashx and can be reloaded from a text hyperlink within the Flash.

In some versions of IE (particularly IE8, but it may also be others), irrespective of IE version emulation and wmode, clicking the text link causes the HTTP call to our Fluorine gateway successfully to be made, but the call to the webservice does not follow it. Inspecting the HTTP transactions with Microsoft Fiddler, [code]...

why on earth that second call wouldn't be making it to the webserver? I can't see why the Flash wouldn't be issuing the HTTP GET but, equally, I can't think of any reason why a browser (let alone just this browser) would be suppressing it. I'm not a Flash developer (I run the .Net team here),

I have a application developed in flex deployed on server. In the application data is filled by user and saved in cookies so as to be available even when the user closes the application. However if new version of application is released the user can still access the older version saved in the cahe. How can it be assured that whenever a new version of application is released the application is loaded from the server and not from the cache and at the same time data saved in the older version (in cookies) can also be accessed in the new version.

Web Development :: Easiest Way To Get The Absolute Path Of Directory From Browser?

Dec 8, 2009

I allow my users to upload files from a directory. I use SWFUpload so that they can upload multiple files easily. However, I need to get the absolute path of the directory from which they are uploading.A little research tells me that it can't be done in plain HTML/Javascript or in Flash.Java applets seem to support this, so that's what I'm planning on using. I guess ActiveX can also do it, but I don't know much about ActiveX stuff, so I would rather avoid it.Also, I can assume that the users are using Windows (XP or greater) and IE.It there an easier way (other than writing a Java applet) that I'm missing? Having the user type in the directory into a textfield is an option, but not a very good one.

This xml is updated this time. This xml contains all the items that are connected to the index.hml which runs the flex app. That is why its refreshes. But i don't want my flex application to restart too.

Php :: Send POST Request With X-amf (Flash) Request Header?

This POST request was sent by a Flash (.swf) object, so it's a little bit complicated in configuring the header. It does not print out anything in the end, so there must be something wrong with PHP code that I could not see. Here is what WireShark captured:

POST /engine/ HTTP/1.1

Host: abcdef.com

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0

ActionScript 3.0 :: Should A Second Request To The Same Flv Be Handled By Browser Cache

Aug 6, 2009

I have a bunch of flvs that I want to play seamlessly. I figured the safest way to ensure a seamless playback was to preload the files first using a class called bulkloader. Once they have all loaded I start using the flvplayback component with .load() on mulitple vp depths.

My reasoning was the second time the flv file is requested (through the flvplayback.load method) it has already been cached in the browser cached from the previous call so it will be pretty much instant. When I test this with Charles proxy (throttled but with caching allowed it makes two calls for each flv and both are requested from the server ignoring any caching.

I wonder if there is a special case where flv's don't get cached. The bulkloader class uses a netstream object to download the video and I wonder if that has different behaviour to a loader object when it comes to caching.

Data Integration :: SendAndLoad XML Request That Works Perfectly But Inside Of Any Browser It Stops ?

Sep 20, 2006

I have a simple sendAndLoad XML request that works perfectly on 95% of the computers I have used. I have check crosssite stuff and everything i can think of. Its not browser specific ,os specific, or flash version specific. On these computers I can run the same flash file on a standalone player and everything works flawlessly but inside of any browser it makes the request for the XML file and stops right there. After a while like 10 minutes flash gets tired of waiting and returns not found. I can navigate to the xml file via the same browser. Upgrading Flash doesn't help. The only thing consistent is it only happens to windows computers. The requested URL is the complete URL. I have changed this and still the same.IE or Firefox still the same. Version 9 player in both. I have montiored network traffic and see the request made and maybe a response but flash has moved.

Relative/Absolute Link In Posting F4V File To The Web?

Jun 12, 2009

I am working in Flash CS4.  I have successfully run a .wmv file through the Media Encoder, converted it to a f4v file, imported it into Flash, and published it with a skin to a folder on my hard drive.I am learning this on my own (no one else in my state agency knows Flash - we are just getting started with posting videos on the Internet, and this is the test case).I get the following four files in one folder on my hard drive (I have put in parentheses what I think the files do, please correct if I am wrong):

oil.f4v (the movie file)

Test.html (the html page in which the swf file is embedded to play back the movie)

Test.swf (the swf file that is embedded in the html page)

SkinUnderPlayStopSeekMuteVol.swf (the skin file that is linked to from the Test.swf file??)

My question is:  As long as these four files stay in the original folder, the html page plays the movie perfectly.  As soon as I rename the folder, nothing works.  It appears to be a question of re-establishing a relative/absolute link among the files? I want to post these to my live site in order to test, but of course that won't work yet either.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Absolute Path To File Via FileReference?

Sep 8, 2011

I am wanting to allow a user to select an image from their computer to use as a BG. FileReference does this job well, however it does not provide the absolute path to the selected file.

I want the selected BG to stay in their "save" (local SharedObject cookie) so that it can be loaded the next time they come back. But since FileReference only provides me with the filename, I'm not sure how to go about storing this information for later. I could, I suppose, store the image data into the cookie directly, but that would be terribly inefficient since many BG images are rather large for a cookie.

how I can go about finding the image file path that the user selected, or efficiently saving the image they chose?

Flex :: Not Loading Flash Crossdomain.xml / Bad Request

Jan 9, 2012

I have a Windows Server 2003, with a domain: "mydomain.com" and everything goes right until the Flash application tries to load de crossdomain.xml, because it tries to load it from "servername" and obviously the request fails. Currently I have read all about crossdomain.xml , what it is, where it goes although I can not find what I have to do so my flash application requests the crossdomain.xml from my domain "mydomain.com" and not from my server "servername".

- The domain is up and can be accessed from the internet

- The crossdomain is on the root folder and also can be accessed from the internet
