I am putting together a website that uses a templating system. It contains a plugin that lets users upload/share music files so anyone can listen to them via the website's flash player.
It works with mp3 files only. Is there a way to make the player play other formats such as wav, wma, mp4, etc?
everytime I look for ways of sending back to XML changes produced in Flash, the tutorial always assume that we are using a server. Is there a way for having a Flash projector that everytime it starts 1-checks for data to load to the projector 2- lets us do changes to data (add, change and remove xml data) 3- and in the end we can save the changes made to the XML file that was initially loaded?

When I convert them to flv files using adobe media converter on the PC then put them into flash and export as swf files, they look good on the pc but will not show on the mac (just white box). Conversley when I make swf files on the Mac (using the FLV files from the PC) they look OK on the mac but do not work on the PC?

In the application data is filled by user and saved in cookies so as to be available even when the user closes the application. However if new version of application is released the user can still access the older version saved in the cahe. How can it be assured that whenever a new version of application is released the application is loaded from the server and not from the cache and at the same time data saved in the older version (in cookies) can also be accessed in the new version.

View 1 RepliesI imported 26 .mp3 files into my library, and linked their classes via AS3 to 26 instances of buttons.
My file size went from about 2MB before I imported them to about 1.6 GB after I imported them. Each of the files is only about 2-3 MB.
I'm experiencing a problem which may have no solution, but I would like to know why I cannot do what I want to do.
PROBLEM: I am attempting to load in an external SWF file and once it is loaded, I wish to directly make the new Sprite/MovieClip into a button. However, the newly loaded Sprite/MovieClip seems to be resistant to be made into a button DIRECTLY. I would like to know why this is.

What is the best way to refresh the page to respond to the changes made to the file. Should I refresh the page, by calling the same url again? Should I use a javascript option. View 7 RepliesI am having some problems showing my videos in flash after moving it anywhere besides my computer.
I published my flash file once as a exe. file and sent it to another computer, where it all worked but my videos, which didn't show up at all.
I also published them as SWF files, then put them up on my free website (where i don't have access to the ftp) and the videos still aren't there.
The videos will play fine in an SWF file on my computer, but i am assuming when they are away from the videos, they don't have a source to access them.
I also tried sending the videos along with the SWF files when sending to other computers and it still doesn't work.
I now have a free hosted website (with wix.com if that makes any difference) with my flash work on, but no videos. I even tried to embed a youtube video into the scenes the videos are meant to appear, and put the videos on youtube, then i discovered you can't put that sort of HTML into flash.
how to show the videos on these sort of website, or even better, how to keep them in original file when sending them, so they show on other computers.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to make a swf with one FLV playback player and 6 buttons. I've got 6 different videofiles that I want to have linked to this swf. Some of the videos are quit large.When starting the Swf, the first video has to start, after playing it, it has to stop. Then you must be able to choose which video to play by clicking one of the buttons. I don't want to have small thumbnails of the video, just plain and simple buttons.I have to have all my files, both fla, swf and xml files in the same directory (I cannot have them stored in different folders, since I have to upload this to a cms system which has limited upload properties).
I've tried to find the right script on the internet, I'm not very good at scripting myselve, actually rather poor educated there.It seems to me that I have to make an xml file with a list of all my videos, I have my default swf ready, with a FLVplayback and buttons.Now there's just the coding part....
I have created two buttons for separate audio files. Essentially if you click on the button it will play and stop. This works great! I have also injected a SoundMixer.stopAll(); to ensure if you click between both buttons that it will stop the current audio file to play the next one. My problem is when I select the 2nd button for the first time everything seems to be working...it's when I attempt to click on the first button again, that it will require 2 clicks and then it stops and plays accordingly...anyone know how I could eliminate this annoying two click process?

If you go to the website: [URL]. The white square is my embedded flash swf file, but as you can see it isn't playing. In Flash, when I test the movie, it plays beautifully. When I put it on my webpage, it's just blank. What bothers me is that I embed Flash swf files frequently with zero problems. The only difference is that this is a video. The swf file is properly uploaded to my server. I've attached the swf file for reference.

But when I update spot_mixdown.mp3 (change sound inside but use same filename) on my website and then reload webpage, a sound is not change.
I am having trouble with editing my flash template in flash cs4. When I try to play the fla file in the timeline it does not play everything in each layer. I have made no changes to the exisiting files in the template at all but there is only a partial background and some text playing.I have tried two other fla files from templates and they are the same.

It plays fine in dreamweaver and when you preview it in Firefox or Safari, But when I upload my HTML files and SWF files it does not play and displays the following message "content on this page requires a newer version of Adobe Flash Player".
