I have a flash CS3 slideshow that loads it's content from an external .xml file. If I export the HTML it plays fine, but if I move the HTML to the site root directory (just outside the directory with the .swf file), and let dreamweaver update the links the flash slideshow will not play. my site is at: [URL] the flash with the .xml is in [URL]

Having some trouble with a slideshow flash file. The snippet of AS is attached below. The play functionality is working fine, but when the slideshow is running, the pause button won't work.

A client is asking for a slideshow to embed into a web page. The slideshow will have a thumbnail bar with arrows on either side to switch to the next or previous batch of thumbnails.This slideshow needs to be linked to an external file that will contain pictures submitted by visitors to the site. The pictures will automatically generate thumbnails that will call a large version of the image when clicked on.My current knowledge about flash and AS3 coding does not enable me to do this. I wouldn't be surprised if it's not possible at all. It sounds like something that needs to be handled by a content management system.

The slideshow will go to the next slide when you click on the picture, but I am in the dark. The flash uses xml to load the picture and I am having a hard time trying to grasp understanding xml.
View 14 RepliesIm working on a slideshow based on the jquery cycle plugin (found here: [URL]. The slideshow slides between different divs where I can put different content such as images and text. However i'd also like to add swf movies to the script wich just on a basic overview works. The video starts playing when the slide becomes visible but stops before it's done and goes over to next slide.
Of course this happens since i have a timer for how long each slide should be visible. What i wonder though is if there's a way with the script for it to dynimacly get the length of the video and not change slide until the video is complete and just do this for swf videos.
URL...I checked this post out and it looks like the normal way for adding a flv, but it tried it on some sample .movs from apple and doesnt seem to work.Do movs have to be encoded specially for playback in flash?
View 1 RepliesI made a preloader which is similar to the preloader in the tutorial from gotoandlearn.Works all fine except, that the swf-file, which contains a movie (with sound n everything) already starts playing, while its still loading. So in fact u can see the preloader loading, while you can already hear the sound of the movie.How can I prevent the external swf-file from playing before it has finished loading?(And I'd prefer to handle the problem with 2 seperate swf-files. I know I could make the preloader in the first frame and tell to skip forward to the second frame when it's done loading...)

View 1 RepliesI finally got to link an external swf movie playing in my main movie... this external mov. has a script that when u move the mouse, a series of panels slide from left to right... when i preview the external movie, it plays fine.. but when i insert it in the main movie, and preview it, the movie plays, but the panel stays there.... static... does not move...
also, when i load a movie, how can i unload it when another is pressed?
I have this text file text.txt and it has a variable in it named song1 with the url of a song file. In flash, I set up this actionscript:

the problem is that I get an UNDEFINED message for the variable song1. But, if I put it in for the variable of dynamic text, the text will show up in the exported flash. I suspect it has something to do with where the variable is being exported to.
Is it possible for a movie to stop until an external file has fully loaded at which point the main movie will then play?

I have tested it with a simple tester.swf that is just a black square with text on and that loads in fine. However when i try to load my slideshow it doesn't appear. I get all of the output from it but it isn't visible.
I have attached the slideshow. As i guess there's something in there that's messing it up.

I am doing this so I can rollover the viewing window and have it appear. I cannot get any code to work to control the timeline (which is broken down into sections with individual MC's in each section.
What I am looking for is the code to apply to the buttons on the external controller to control the playing of the movie.
Does anyone know any good tutoriols on how to create a "slideshow" or "playlist" in ActionScript3? The slide can be either a simple picture, a soundfile or a video. I want to be able to jump back and forth in the slideshow/playlist, and also see how long a slide will be shown. The playlist will be loaded from a pre-defined XML-file.

I have a button that I would like to play a slideshow movie clip. The movieclip instance is "samples". And there are "stops" in each of five frames.
I only want the next frame to play when the "nextSlide" button is pushed. And at the end of the slideshow, loop back to the first of those five frames.
I have a class file that displays a slideshow and preloads each image in an xml file. the code is below. What I want to know is, is there any way to improve this code?

I'm struggling with AS3 trying to play a series of movie clips, one after the other, like a slideshow. There are no button controls, just several layers, each with a movie clip in the first frame. I want to go down the list and play one after the other and then eventually end on the last clip without looping back to the first.

View 5 RepliesI want to make the kirupa slideshow that loads in movieclips instead of images. This is a huge multimedia project and the movieclips will each have a lot of text and graphics in them. I want it to autoplay AND have manual controls like "back" and "next".
I'm not too familiar with autoplay, except in a timeline. How can I make this work if everything is in a movieclip on the first frame? Do I need to use the timeline or scenes or can it be done with out them?
to clarify... I have 20 buttons at the top. Clicking each one of them will open a different movieclip into an empty mc in the middle of the stage. I have back, next and autoplay buttons at the bottom. I want the user to be able to manually control the movies AND to autoplay.
I have a flash file that is 1.5mb in size. As it takes about 6 minutes for someone on dialup to load this file, I have created a smaller swf file and loaded the larger one from it but I don't want the larger one to begin to play until it's fully downloaded. View 7 RepliesI am having some problems showing my videos in flash after moving it anywhere besides my computer.
I published my flash file once as a exe. file and sent it to another computer, where it all worked but my videos, which didn't show up at all.
I also published them as SWF files, then put them up on my free website (where i don't have access to the ftp) and the videos still aren't there.
The videos will play fine in an SWF file on my computer, but i am assuming when they are away from the videos, they don't have a source to access them.
I also tried sending the videos along with the SWF files when sending to other computers and it still doesn't work.
I now have a free hosted website (with wix.com if that makes any difference) with my flash work on, but no videos. I even tried to embed a youtube video into the scenes the videos are meant to appear, and put the videos on youtube, then i discovered you can't put that sort of HTML into flash.
how to show the videos on these sort of website, or even better, how to keep them in original file when sending them, so they show on other computers.
