URL...I checked this post out and it looks like the normal way for adding a flv, but it tried it on some sample .movs from apple and doesnt seem to work.Do movs have to be encoded specially for playback in flash?

If I export the HTML it plays fine, but if I move the HTML to the site root directory (just outside the directory with the .swf file), and let dreamweaver update the links the flash slideshow will not play. my site is at: [URL] the flash with the .xml is in [URL]
View 1 RepliesI made a preloader which is similar to the preloader in the tutorial from gotoandlearn.Works all fine except, that the swf-file, which contains a movie (with sound n everything) already starts playing, while its still loading. So in fact u can see the preloader loading, while you can already hear the sound of the movie.How can I prevent the external swf-file from playing before it has finished loading?(And I'd prefer to handle the problem with 2 seperate swf-files. I know I could make the preloader in the first frame and tell to skip forward to the second frame when it's done loading...)
View 6 RepliesI finally got to link an external swf movie playing in my main movie... this external mov. has a script that when u move the mouse, a series of panels slide from left to right... when i preview the external movie, it plays fine.. but when i insert it in the main movie, and preview it, the movie plays, but the panel stays there.... static... does not move...
also, when i load a movie, how can i unload it when another is pressed?
I have this text file text.txt and it has a variable in it named song1 with the url of a song file. In flash, I set up this actionscript:

the problem is that I get an UNDEFINED message for the variable song1. But, if I put it in for the variable of dynamic text, the text will show up in the exported flash. I suspect it has something to do with where the variable is being exported to.
Is it possible for a movie to stop until an external file has fully loaded at which point the main movie will then play?

I am doing this so I can rollover the viewing window and have it appear. I cannot get any code to work to control the timeline (which is broken down into sections with individual MC's in each section.
What I am looking for is the code to apply to the buttons on the external controller to control the playing of the movie.
I Have a flashmovie thats almost done and will soon hit the internet, but I want to add some animations into the website it�s two gears that I�m about to put at the bottom of the page and when a button releases in the main flashmovie the two bottom gears will turn a few frames and just stand still.These three movies are all separate (main movie, first gear and second gear).
It's a homepage designed in HTML and flash that has this "main flashmovie" in the middle of the screen, the size is about 1500(width)X800(height). And the gears is about 800wX200h placed at the left and right side bottom of the page. Dont worry the site is easy to apply to any screen resolution.I have been looking everywhere for any soul out there who suffering from the same problem but no success. Is it possible to script a button in the main movie to launch two separate movies in their own contents?
I am trying to make a swf with one FLV playback player and 6 buttons. I've got 6 different videofiles that I want to have linked to this swf. Some of the videos are quit large.When starting the Swf, the first video has to start, after playing it, it has to stop. Then you must be able to choose which video to play by clicking one of the buttons. I don't want to have small thumbnails of the video, just plain and simple buttons.I have to have all my files, both fla, swf and xml files in the same directory (I cannot have them stored in different folders, since I have to upload this to a cms system which has limited upload properties).
I've tried to find the right script on the internet, I'm not very good at scripting myselve, actually rather poor educated there.It seems to me that I have to make an xml file with a list of all my videos, I have my default swf ready, with a FLVplayback and buttons.Now there's just the coding part....
I have created two buttons for separate audio files. Essentially if you click on the button it will play and stop. This works great! I have also injected a SoundMixer.stopAll(); to ensure if you click between both buttons that it will stop the current audio file to play the next one. My problem is when I select the 2nd button for the first time everything seems to be working...it's when I attempt to click on the first button again, that it will require 2 clicks and then it stops and plays accordingly...anyone know how I could eliminate this annoying two click process?

I have a "movie player" that plays flv files using the code below (videoToPlay is the name of the file to play and is just a string). I want to use the same setup to play an mp3 file also.I tried using mySound = new Sound(); and then mySound.attachNetStream(ns);, but it gives me this error: 1061: Call to a possibly undefined method attachNetStream through a reference with static type flash.media:Sound.

How can I replace text loaded from an external file with text from another external file? Using setInterval and calling the .load from a function or something? In the example below I'm calling an external text file, could this also work with an .xml file with cycling through the children?

As it takes about 6 minutes for someone on dialup to load this file, I have created a smaller swf file and loaded the larger one from it but I don't want the larger one to begin to play until it's fully downloaded. View 1 RepliesI am having some problems showing my videos in flash after moving it anywhere besides my computer.
I published my flash file once as a exe. file and sent it to another computer, where it all worked but my videos, which didn't show up at all.
I also published them as SWF files, then put them up on my free website (where i don't have access to the ftp) and the videos still aren't there.
The videos will play fine in an SWF file on my computer, but i am assuming when they are away from the videos, they don't have a source to access them.
I also tried sending the videos along with the SWF files when sending to other computers and it still doesn't work.
I now have a free hosted website (with wix.com if that makes any difference) with my flash work on, but no videos. I even tried to embed a youtube video into the scenes the videos are meant to appear, and put the videos on youtube, then i discovered you can't put that sort of HTML into flash.
how to show the videos on these sort of website, or even better, how to keep them in original file when sending them, so they show on other computers.

I added a link in the html page to an external JS file, when I move the JS function to the external JS file the website crushes.
I would prefer to have all my JS functions on an external file so I can use them in the future in other project and it also makes it easier for me to update the site.

Structure: There is 1 main file that loads external SWF files depending on what is clicked on.One of the external SWF files loads its text from external text files. This works fine when viewing the SWF applet on its own. But when viewing as a whole site, the text doesnt appear. Very annoying.I made that particular SWF on my mums computer running Flash MX 2004The flash file itself uses the Scrollbar component from MX.Could someone tell me why the text doesnt load in this scenario? It runs fine on its own, just not as an external SWF.

I have a website banner made in Flash. I have added a music file to it and Play and Stop buttons. I also have a Replay button to replay the banner animation once it stops.
I have put the music on a separate frame so that it will not play automatically when the banner loads. I have made the Play button direct to the frame the music is located at so that when clicked, it will go to that frame and play the music file.
The problem I am currently having is that if I click the Play button more than once, it will play the music file again on top of the current play-through.
So if I click Play, the music will play. Then if I click it again, the music will play again, but on top of the first instance of the music, so two instances of it will now be playing and it sounds horrible.
I would like to make it so that if you click Play when the music is playing, it will not play the music again until the music has stopped.
I want to list about ten videoclips (all mov-files) on my webpage and when i put my mouse over a clip it should start playing - when i remove the mouse from the clip, it stops. My idea was to use a swf-file that i can trigger using a URL like this: preview.swf?path=movies/movie1.mov
1. How do make my swf-file aware of the URL and then play the right file?
2. When the mouse is not over any videoclip i would like have the first frame of the mov-file shown - is this possible or do i need to make screenshots from all the mov-files then?

This is significant only because I can link to external pdf.zips no problem on the timeline but I can't seem to translate the code to the external file.
