Sep 8, 2011im using an open source program called Festival that generates text to speech, and in ubuntu i call its method text2wave that converts text into a wave file. I am looking into converting short paragraphs to wave files, but the problem is that each wave file ends up being approximately 1.2MB in size. The wave file is recorded at 16khz, and while recording at 8khz halves the size of the wave file (sacrificing sound quality), the wave file is just simply too large. These paragraphs have to be served many times to the clients and our server can not support that much bandwidth. Is it possible to compress the file on the server, and decompress it in my flash script (on the client side) and play the wave?

Due to the nature of their hosting environment, the Flash movie will run in its own <iframe> tag.The Flex app calls out to our REST services via HTTPS, and authenticates with an HTTP cookie. This works beautifully in Chrome, Firefox, Safari... everything except IE. I compared requests from Chrome and IE using Fiddler, and noticed that they are identical, save for the HTTP Cookies. IE omits several, including the one used for authentication.

Dec 2, 2009I'm trying to load an xml file from via http into my flash 8 file. Locally it works fine but when on the server it fails. I assume this has to do the flash security sandbox. How do I get around this. I own the servers so is there some sort of fix that I upload to allow the swf to receive the data?

Jun 21, 2010I have been trying to insert flash file but I keep getting error messages that:
Not Found
The requested URL /annimations/Snow.html was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
I firstly publish flash into both swf and http files. Then, I opened view source of the http file and pasted the code onto the dreamwaever file.

In addition, I deleted code that swfobject.registerObject(FlashID) on the http file. The dreamweaver gave an error message that the code swfobject.registerObject(FlashID) can cause error when downloading the flash. Finally all http, swf and flash files were uploaded. But I still got the error message above. In the past, I managed to upload flash using the method above, although I did not get any message regarding swfobject.registerObject(FlashID).

Feb 9, 2011I'm trying to build a workaround for embedding my (downloaded) flash videoplayer. (it's the JWplayer...)
At the moment, when somebody wants to embed the videoplayer they have to include the swf with all the added flashvars (url...). That's messy, and it feels a bit risky... people who know what they are doing can also just remove the plugin and other added data, resolving in me not being able to track pageviews etc.[code]...
Turns out that, when I use file_get_contents on a regular test file, info.php, that responds through a $_GET['var'], the above stated code works, but when I use it on the flashplayer, it doesn't...
As in: the flash file does not seem to be accepting (or responding to) the added header variables...

Jul 24, 2011We have a lot of crossdomain.xml files at my company. Every service that has Flash availability needs one. Keeping them in sync is annoying, so I'd like to be able to have just one crossdomain.xml file hosted somewhere, and then http redirect (302) all the requests to that central location. Is this possible? I can't find documentation anywhere on the web about the rules.

Jul 13, 2010i'm trying to integrate with a plain http service which has both http/https flavors available for consumption. sadly they never thought of a flash client consuming these services and it will take another 6 months to roll a crossdomain xml policy file on their service (there security team has to approve the process, pm team has to include it in their roadmap and blah blah). i've already implemented the flash client which works fine from a flash ide security sandbox. is it possible to get around this crossdomain policy requirement.
my flash file will always be hosted as [URL] and i will be communicating with [URL]. i'm saying [URL] because they do some loadbalancing at the backend and allocate random servers on connection (which is fine from their server side design perspective). I tried putting following two lines in the constructor of my movie clip, but couldn't pass through the security sandbox error:

Jun 3, 2011I've got a small client/server test application where I have a Flex app that makes an HTTP request of a server app. The server app is a script running on my local machine, listening on port 8001. The client is a swf that I am running locally, and uses mx.rpc.http.HTTPService to make the page request.
The HTTPService is being set up as per below:
_HttpService = new HTTPService();
_HttpService.url = "http://localhost:8001";
_HttpService.contentType = "text/xml";
When I make a basic page request, my server app is first receiving a "GET /crossdomain.xml HTTP/1.1" request, which is failing since I don't have a crossdomain.xml file in place. The reason I don't have one in place is because this is all happening on my local machine (for now) and I shouldn't need one (I don't think).
I definitely had this code working before without a crossdomain.xml when I was using Flex 3.x. I thought I had it working with Flex 4 as well. Now I'm using Flex 4.5. Is there an issue here, possibly due to security policy changes?With all of this happening on localhost, why is the Flash player requesting a crossdomain.xml file?

Should I use FLV to play video on mobile device? RTSP required or can be use RTMP? Is NetStream and NetConnection methods different from Flash Player in Flash Lite Player? How to play 3gp video using RTMP stream ie.ns.play(mp4:mobilevideo.3gp¯, 0, -1, true) is it ok or any thing else required? For mobile browser and computer browser,can I use single player or I have to make different player for computer browser and mobile browser? It would be better if I can do it with single player for both mobile and computer browser. Sample code required for testing. Aug 4, 2009if I repeat this IIS topic, I couldn't find the answer to my problem any where on the internet. I installed FMS Dev 3.5 on Win 2003 Server with IIS 6.0 enabled. I don't have any issue with port 80 Listening, I used the IP address 192.168.0.21 for my web application (IIS) and 192.168.0.22 for FMS (I only have one network card and port 1935 is open under firewall). I can play the sample videos (RTMP, HTTP, and Dynamic Stream) using the Flash Media Start Screen (or from the location C: Program FilesAdobe Flash Media Server 3.5webrootindex.html) without any problem.
I then modified the IIS Default Website to look at the "webroot" folder (C: Program FilesAdobe Flash Media Server 3.5webroot). From IE, I can access the default web site by enter http://192.168.0.21/index.html. The website loads up correctly, and the RTMP video is playing perfectly. However, if I click Play Video (HTTP) or Dynamic Stream (tab), I receive "Connection Error. Please press Play to try again." I look at the log file (access.01.log) and see the error log "Session disconnect

Jan 6, 2012I'm looking for a tool to facilitate mulitple webpage file uploads from a single file browse dialogue. I know this has been asked previously, but I can't find anything current.I'd like to check file size prior to upload, and I gather Flash is still the only way to do that cross-browser? Ideally, I'd like an upload progress metre.I'll be using Linux and Apache servers, but don't have access to install add-ons such as PHP APC. Again, I assume something flash-based is the only option there?
I've looked at SWFUpload, but that appears to be another of these projects where the developers have become quite zealous and turned a simple concept into a full suite of tools for the masses.It seems quite cumbersome and I don't think I want to use it for my purpose.I'd prefer not to have to write something from scratch for this.suggest a non-Flash alternative if there is one? I do need full cross-browser compatibility without too many layers of degradation, so anything HTML 5 probably isn't what I want.

Aug 26, 2011I'm trying to replicate the motion of a 'mexican wave'. I am using Flash CS5, and using AS2. I've created a 'jumper' graphic and animated it in a clip so it jumps once - up then falls back to the ground. I've pulled the clip in to the main timeline and replicated a bunch of times so I have a row of 'jumpers'. I've given each instance a unique ID. Then I'm telling each clip instance to start playing, in sequence, using the following code:

In the clip, I have put stop() in the last frame to try and stop it looping. So this works ok, but the clips seem to loop - I can't get them to stop.

Oct 8, 2009I am having some problems showing my videos in flash after moving it anywhere besides my computer.
I published my flash file once as a exe. file and sent it to another computer, where it all worked but my videos, which didn't show up at all.
I also published them as SWF files, then put them up on my free website (where i don't have access to the ftp) and the videos still aren't there.
The videos will play fine in an SWF file on my computer, but i am assuming when they are away from the videos, they don't have a source to access them.
I also tried sending the videos along with the SWF files when sending to other computers and it still doesn't work.
I now have a free hosted website (with wix.com if that makes any difference) with my flash work on, but no videos. I even tried to embed a youtube video into the scenes the videos are meant to appear, and put the videos on youtube, then i discovered you can't put that sort of HTML into flash.
how to show the videos on these sort of website, or even better, how to keep them in original file when sending them, so they show on other computers.
