My web designer is no longer working and has left me with a flash file which would benefit from a small edit
The file is made up of a banner which rotates between 3 images. I'd dearly like each of the images to become a link to html files already uploaded to server
The banner can be seen at self catering accommodation belfast dot com
Is it possible to request this on the forum please?
I'm actually relatively new to flash and actionscript but I could say I have fair knowledge about them. So anyway, I usually build flash websites the traditional way using timeline animation and scripting. Today I had a job interview and they said they're looking for someone who can develop any web design into a Flash CMS with a back-end office for the client to edit the content without having to edit the FLA file or any code.
Accordingly, I'd like to know where and how to start. What are the main concepts I should follow/adapt?
I have a flash file that sends some request to php file every 5 minutes. How can I check if the request from flash file has been sent from my website or from other place. I want to be shure that someone is not sending requests from other locations. It is very important for security reasons. Will the following PHP code work?

I'm trying to reproduce a POST request that was captured from WireShark using PHP. This POST request was sent by a Flash (.swf) object, so it's a little bit complicated in configuring the header.It does not print out anything in the end, so there must be something wrong with PHP code that I could not see.Here is what WireShark captured:

I know that I can keep the jpg outside the file and just call them dynamically but I just need to use them in that way.

View 1 RepliesI have one swf file, it is JW Player plugin. It have one actionscript file in which is whole plugin code, and rest of files are jwplayer api files. So i need to open that file (where whole plugin code is) and edit few lines. But there is a problem, because when i try to decompile file with sothink swf decompiler (and few others) - to convert it to .FLA, decompiles simply crashes. It is because of some file from jwplayer api library. So, next thing i tried is to edit via HEX (because there is not much to be edited), but i couldn't find what i needed. So what i need is - is there any way or not? If yes, which program can be used for this?

View 2 RepliesI'm creating an in-house application in flash for my company. I'm pulling a ton of info from a single XML file located on our server. Ten interns will be using the application on their laptops (Air 2.0). Having the data load and populate the application is not a problem. I would like them (in the application) to be able to edit an existing node value (loaded from the XML) and save it (back to the XML file) so that the XML file updates with the new value and the other 9 interns would see the change on their application.
I figure I'll need some kind of php set up, but everything I've read so far deals with creating new nodes. I need to edit and update existing node values from an existing loaded file.

I'm edit a flash file that uses about 11 different fonts. When I toss it into the editor and publish it some characters are missing from the product, such as W's and M's. I've installed the fonts that were included with the flash file into windows7.
View 4 RepliesI am in the middle of creating a website using Flash CS5. I opened up my .Fla file one day to continue my work but I am no unable to access buttons and movie clips. When creating movie clips or buttons I am unable to get inside them, when I hover my mouse over them there is a white hand icon which never used to be there it was always just a normal mouse icon. I double click to enter inside the buttons/movie clips but nothing happens. This happens to existing movie clips and buttons on the page and even when I create new ones. I really don't wanna have to start this website again.

I have a chat server written in Java listening on port 6000 and a client app(using an xmlsocket) in Flash 9. I get these <policy-file-request/>. I understand the purpose and I read the one solution about creating a server on port 843 and serving a master policy file but since I do not have total control over our hosting I cannot use port 843.I also tried replying to the request with "<cross-domain-policy><allow-access-from domain='*' to-ports='*'/></cross-domain-policy>" + "�" but nothing happens.The other really strange thing is that using Firefox the file request waits for the response and does nothing...but in IE7 the file request goes through then it continues to work even with no response, I can send/receive using the socket without problem.Does anyone know a good way to 'satisfy' the file request using the Java server listening on port 6000?

View 3 RepliesI am trying to get a xml file with data into Flex application. There are a lot of examples online passing parameter into f. However, it doesn't really work in my case.here is my code in HTML:

Running my Flash app from localhost (in debug) I can connect/contact the socket server just fine. Note: It doesn't seem as though the server detects any 843 connection (e.g. the policy file port) this way. However, when I move the app to the server itself and run it from there (i.e. from the website), it will send the policy file, get a disconnect (as it should), and then try to execute the regular port stuff but doesn't read anything from Flash. It seems like my Flash app isn't writing to the port as it should, or something else is going wrong. I did also notice that Flash seems to be trying to send the policy-file-request twice.My process right now is like this:
1) Flash tries to connect to port 843. The server responds to its <policy-file-request/> with the policy file.
2) Flash reads it, disconnects from 843
3) Server gets graceful disconnect, then gets another connection on 843.
4) Just after that, the server gets a connection on 2188, but reads another <policy-file-request/>, so sends the policy file again.
5) At this point, Flash SHOULD simply write the string "Test" to the socket (that's in my connect handler). However, my server doesn't seem to read anything on the socket after the second <policy-file-request/>.[code]
