[code]The row object consists data for different columns of a datagrid. dp.push(row) pushes the data onto the datagrid.Columns with index 3 and 4 have type of "DATE" with whole time stamp being displayed. Is there any method in flex which will help me extract the monnth/day/year from date or timestamp for that matter.

I'm trying to extract relevant information from an xml in AS3 using text and not a node name as the filter, and I'm not quite getting it. Here's a sample xml:

Therefore I got three drop-down-meny to registrate the date of the sale: one for day, one for month and one for year. Is there any way I can convert these three into a Unix Timestamp? (I save the data via PHP intro MySql-database).

View 3 RepliesI have been given an SWF to edit a link in the AS code. The fact is the SWF uses some XML that is generated (actually retrieved) by PHP code from a database. menuXML.load("/sub/page/dynamic.php?genre=" + genre); so the point is we can use the same SWF 'mainfraim' and fill them with different animations/sources based on the link provided in dynamic.php?genre=### Now, I've used Flash Decompiler Gold to extract all files in the SWF and can open it again in Adobe Flash to edit it. When done I enter CTRL+ENTER and there are immediately 4 compiler errors!! Errors:
1x < Unexpected 'if' encountered >
2x < Statement block must be terminated by '}' >
1x < Ecpected a field name after '.' operator. >
How can these errors be present, when the original SWF works perfectly??! If I don't manage to solve this, I'll have to find out how to create an .php file the SWF tries to use which can select the proper resources (from a database I guess) to show them (using ?genre=###)

I've got a php backend which delivers a time (e.g. '07:00:00'). This time is recognized as a string but I need it as a Date. So what I need is: Convert a string '07:00:00' to a Flex Date object. Is there a way to do this (without using regular expressions)?

That is, I want to know if I can completely map all of the data within an object, from another object. I'm aware that this wouldn't work for private (or protected) members, but for anything public, it should be possible, correct?

I used new Date().getTime() in my flex code and tried passing the timestamp variable hoping to parse it at the servlet and convertit into a java.util.Date object. But i am getting a NumberFormatException when i try to parse the variable from the string that i got from request.getParameter.

I am attempting to retrieve metadata from a URLResource. The URLResource is not controlled by me, but passed into a function that I am using. The URLResource is created like this:

Now the URLResource contains the metadata. I will receive a MediaElement resource. How do I extract the metadata back? Here's what the debugger shows (media is a MediaElement object containing the URLResource w/ metadata) :

And a host of other attempts, but can't figure out how to get at that darned metadata.
On the About Us and Services pages there is a link to open up a pop up box. This works fine but for some reason if I change the text in one section, for instance the "our team" pop up box text the pop up box on the Services page "read more" and "paranormal info" box has the same text displayed.I can't seem to find where to change the text for each box individually. I am experiencing a very strange behavoiour of Flex Date object. My web service is written in .Net 3.5 and all object which I am retriving or updating have Creation Date (Date Type) in .Net code.
But when I am calling .Net web service and displaying data in Flex, Flex displaying a different Date than what stored in web service. When I update my object using Flex UI, every time update time is very different than actual update time set by .Net code.

I need to write a small Flash app that will need to extract a video frame from a playing video. It will not need to be saved to the HDD of the user. I just need to get the image data and display it in the Flash movie. The frame to extract will be chosen by the user, which is why I'd like to do this purely on the client side (though I know I could do it from the server side).
