I have been trying to extract information from this file on YouTube using AS3. I have managed to access ytID (YouTube video ID) along with the ytName (YouTube video name) from a specific channel (called through the loader). I am stumped on how to get the thumbnail URL. I have managed to find out that through YouTube, its tag is media:thumbnail, however, Flash gives me an error for trying to use a semicolon.

ActionScript 3.0 :: Extracting Multiple Classes From An Swf File Using ContentLoaderInfo.applicationDomain.getDefinition

Jan 14, 2010

I'm building a 10 channel mixer/remixer in Flash. Users can select a "song" to load from an xml driven combo box at the top of the application. In the document class, there is a function that takes the selected item from the combo box and loads in an external swf, which just serves as a library for the 10 sounds of a particular song. I then have to extract each of these sounds by their class names ("Track1", "Track2", "Track3", etc...) and send them off to their respective "MixerChannel" objects. As you can see, the following code block in the "initHandler" is pretty long and redundant. Is there any other way/shortcuts I can use to reduce the code a bit?

ActionScript 3.0 :: Embed Asset Without Flex?

Jun 28, 2011

I am trying to implement a card game using Flash Professional CS5. Since flex makes the final size bigger, I do not want to use Flex for now. I have some difficulties to bind code logic with assets. I have a Deck class and Card Class and 52 card images which are converted to movie clips.

Option 1: I can create linkage to those movie clips means that I will have 52 different classes for each card and I have to create 52 different classes to put my functionality for each card.However I do not want to create 52 classes so is there any other solution?

Option 2: I found embedding asset paths to classes in Flex like that;

Code:
[Embed(source="xxx")]
public var customClass:Class;

So is there a way to make it without using flex in action script code?

Flex :: Programmatically Extracting A Frame From A Video In Flash?

I need to write a small Flash app that will need to extract a video frame from a playing video. It will not need to be saved to the HDD of the user. ActionScript 3.0 :: Extracting Data From XML?

I have an xml file that I am reading from. I am them taking the data and putting it into an XML object named condechiXML.

var condechiXML:XML = new XML();
var XML_URL:String = "condechi.xml";
var condechiXMLURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest(XML_URL);[code]...

What I want to do is run a for loop for every branch in my xml tree where I access a property in each branch. I have the for loop working using the length attribute for xml but when i want to use:

for (var i:uint=1; i<=condechiTotal; i++) {
trace(condechiXML.condesa["lote["+i+"]"].loteid);
}

my trace returns blank lines.

Flash - Extracting VideoFrames From A SWF?

Aug 30, 2011

have a SWF that I want to extract VideoFrames from.They appear under this name when the SWF is opened with 7-Zip (VideoFrame).Obviously, extracting them in that manner accomplishes nothing, as they are not in any recognizable image format.I have loaded the SWF into Flash Professional CS5, and am able to view all the Bitmap objects (assembled in a "UI", overlaying the video animation at one corner) in the Library, but I cannot find an enumeration of the video frames anywhere, or even find the object displaying them.

EDIT: I do NOT want to simply export the entire frames of the SWF, as there are several UI elements overlaying the video. I know for a fact that the entire video frames are present (just partly covered up). I want to extract the frames of the embedded video, not the SWF frames.

IDE :: Extracting Data From LoadVars?

Jul 11, 2010

I am using the loadVars class (Flash 8) to load key/value pairs from a mySQL database through php (example &pic1=pic1.jpg&pic2=pic2.jpg&...).

The ultimate goal is to create a dynamic slideshow with a variable length, depending on how many pics were submitted by the user. Since the associative array object returned by loadVars does not share the "length" property of indexed arrays, my guess is that the values need to be converted into a new indexed array before being able to use them in the slideshow.

Actionscript 3 :: Loading A SWC Asset By Variable Name?

May 23, 2011

I am trying to load assets from an SWC into a SWF at compile time, in as3. I'm getting the information about which assets to load from a JSON file. I can do so statically, but when I try to define the names dynamically, I'm running into problems. So for example I can do this:onemech[+ tmpObj.id] = new mech3 as MovieClip;And it loads the asset named mech3. But what I would like to be able to do is something like

var mechtype:String = "mech" + mechtypenumber;
onemech[+ tmpObj.id] = new mechtype as MovieClip;

Obviously, that doesn't work.I looked around a bit and I found this here, which seems to be angling toward what I need, but I can't figure out how to apply what's said there to my specific situation.

ActionScript 3.0 :: External Asset Package - Swf - Swc?

Aug 19, 2010

When I was building apps in as2 - my main method of project distribution was to create a bunch of different swfs, each representing, probably, a timeline, some code, and a set of graphical assets. Tho cumbersome, it meant that I could progressively load large chunks of the project as needed, at runtime.

Obviously - working in as3 - this changes a bit. My last project ended up being a bit too large, even when all assets had been optimized - mostly because I just embedded them in one swf and loaded it (kinda long load time). So - new project, wondering what solid methods are available for loading packages of external assets. I could, obviously, just load everything individually, but I would like class linkage and symbols already defined - rather than doing this manually for bitmaps.
