View 2 RepliesMy team and I are considering switching to using the "Flash CS5 Uncompressed Document (*.xfl)" option in Flash CS5 based on the assumption that it will allow better collaboration and conflict resolution when working in a version-controlled (SVN) environment. We would like to avoid the common situation of irresolvable conflicts when multiple people edit an FLA. at least in the initial release of Flash CS5: [URL] Has anyone had success or failure with this approach? Is this a favourable or detrimental change in workflow?
View 1 RepliesI'm having trouble extracting the data from an XML file that I've loaded into arrays in flash.
Ultimately the XML file will sit on a server and will be updated separately from the flash file.
What I am trying to do is get text boxes to pull in the data from an array when a button is rolled over.
As I am building a Flex framework for minigames, I plan to bundle a bunch of graphic assets (movieclip symbols) into a single swf file, which I will load into my Flex application, before extracting the symbols from the swf file for use in my application
View 3 RepliesI have a flash object (with an swf extension). The flash object contains an image which I need to extract and use instead of the swf file..especially for devices not supporting flash. How can we extract the image from an swf (flash) file? what tools can I use?
View 2 RepliesI was wondering if there is an easy way to get just the actionscript out of a flash file apart from decompiling it, as you loose a lot from doing it this way...I also dont have the time to manually rip it out in chunks.
View 3 RepliesI'm using MTASC's haXe to compile SWF from AS. Considering I don't have Adobe CS, what are our options to extract the action scripts from any FLA file?
I mean different versions, like CS4, CS5, etc. Converting older versions to CS5
I have been trying to extract information from this file on YouTube using AS3. I have managed to access ytID (YouTube video ID) along with the ytName (YouTube video name) from a specific channel (called through the loader). I am stumped on how to get the thumbnail URL. I have managed to find out that through YouTube, its tag is media:thumbnail, however, Flash gives me an error for trying to use a semicolon.
ActionScript Code:
I'm building a 10 channel mixer/remixer in Flash. Users can select a "song" to load from an xml driven combo box at the top of the application. In the document class, there is a function that takes the selected item from the combo box and loads in an external swf, which just serves as a library for the 10 sounds of a particular song. I then have to extract each of these sounds by their class names ("Track1", "Track2", "Track3", etc...) and send them off to their respective "MixerChannel" objects. As you can see, the following code block in the "initHandler" is pretty long and redundant. Is there any other way/shortcuts I can use to reduce the code a bit?

I use .txt files a lot with flash to load external news and updates. Although you can use the loadVariablesNum() command to load the .txt files is there anyway to edit and save the external files in flash? e.g. say I have a text box and a submit button in flash is there some way where I can add the text boxes content to a .txt file?
View 1 RepliesI am having a strange problem with frame labels.I am using external swf. files to load content for my portfolio.The Work section contains thumbnails and once you click them they fade in at a larger size using Frame labels with AS2.[code]If you open URL... and click the thumbnails you can see it works perfectly fine. However if you go to the work section from the index URL... it no longer works. I have been trying at this all day but it does not seem to work once i upload to server :/all files (FLA , SWF, HTML )
View 3 RepliesI am using a content loader through AS3 to load some images and then later pushed into an array. I have pushed my image file paths in to an array (arrayImages). But when the loader loads the images it doesn't load the images based on the order they are listed in the arrayImages, instead they were loaded based on their file sizes. Is there anyway that these can be loaded in the order they were pushed to the array? Below is the code that i use to load the images.
function funcLoadImages() {
for (var i:uint=0; i<arrayImages.length; i++) {
var ldrImageLoader:Loader=new Loader();
ldrImageLoader.load(new URLRequest(arrayImages[i]));ldrImageLoader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener( Event.COMPLETE,pushLoadedImagetoAnotherArray);
}
}
I turn to you for help, dear sweet Kirupa Forumites. First, let me explain the problem: I have a flash file reading an external text file for the content. Everything works perfectly for nearly everyone - you click a menu button, and the content text comes up fine. However, a couple of people have found that the text shows up as "undefined". I have checked the player versions of the people where it doesn't work, and it is the same as for those where it does work, so that ain't the problem.
I don't understand why it works perfectly for nearly everyone, but a small number of people have this "undefined" text problem. It seems to be a problem with loading the external text file, but I don't know why. I have a main flash movie, and load the text in the first frame, using the following:
var my_content = new LoadVars();
my_content.load("content.txt");
my_content.onLoad = function(success){
if (success){
[Code]...
I then have a couple of dynamic text boxes in the main movie - one called ErrorText (for displaying an error message to the user) and one called ContentText (for displaying the content). I use an external menu swf which jumps to a specific frame in the main movie, depending on which button is clicked. Actionscript on the main movie frame for the first button does the following, with the other frames similarly configured:
ContentText.htmlText = my_content.content1;
stop();
My external text file is properly configured (content1=blah blah&content2=other blah blah) etc.
Does anyone have any advice on how I can solve this particular weird problem??
loadVariablesNum("testimonials.txt", 0);
gotoAndPlay("load");
This code works perfect when testing, and it works perfect viewing the SWF, but when you view the HTML file with the SWF embedded, it doesn't display the text file content.
I'm about to start a project where there will be a Flash application where the visitor customizes a profile with externally loaded images and texts. Then the visitor needs to be able to download that profile as a dynamically created swf with all that external content baked into the swf.
View 2 RepliesI'm going to implement a file uploading application using flex 3.5 and php. In the flex code I need to read the content of the uploaded file without calling the FileReference.load() method (Since it is a big issue when uploading large files). I checked many online articles and didn't find a way to do this in flex.access the content of this file without using FileReference.load() method?
View 1 Repliesi need to make a sort of template for a group of files. it must contain both text and images (sort of help files where there is text and explanatory figures). i have to make this template 100% dynamic, meaning that i don't know the amount of text or number of images or where those images will be within the text. my client should be able to add text and images without having to edit the swf.
i know how to make textfields and movieclips during runtime, and how to load dynamic text and images, but the main problem is that the client wants the images inbetween paragraphs - not in a seperate place. -how do i set breakpoints in a dynamically loaded text -how do i position the images? -how do i position the rest of the text?
My question is how possible creating streamable audio files /mp3/flv/ from multiple input files. The server is vps linux without soundcard, installed flash media server 3.5. My task is creating mixed mp3 output file.The input files are 2 mp3 file = 2 channel, uploaded to a server by the user.Controls: volume pitch, equalizer, fading that is controlled from client side flash appThe problem it should be in real time, when the user control the volume pitcher channels etc could be heard the result in the client's flash player on client side.For that purpose I tried to split the audio files into 1 sec pieces, and changing the splits only, and when done joining them together.
Feeding them to flash media server there was more problem:-the server streamed not the actual file but probably from cache -the streaming was always stopped after 1-2 seconds - using client side dynamic streaming /without joining the files / only the last file was played - using server side playlist playing more files was not played all the files So the question which way possible creating streamable files, or is there a better solution than splitting them.
I'm in the process of making a web page that'll successfully checked as XHTML 1.0 Transitional ([URL]), but as soon as I place in the fixit.js script under the flash object and view the page in IE, all the flash elements turn white. Quote:

Anyone knows how to place in flash files in xhtml files on IE without manually controls by clicking on the flash file.
Is there a way to extract a swf from an exe? I overwrote my original FLA , and the only trace I have of my old work is in an EXE file. I want to convert it to swf then import is to flash. Is there anyway at all to get an swf from an exe? I know that vice versa is possible.
View 3 RepliesThe XML file format is:
<xml>
<condesa>
<lote>
<loteid>H50601</loteid>[code]....
I have an xml file that I am reading from. I am them taking the data and putting it into an XML object named condechiXML.
var condechiXML:XML = new XML();
var XML_URL:String = "condechi.xml";
var condechiXMLURL:URLRequest = new URLRequest(XML_URL);[code]...
What I want to do is run a for loop for every branch in my xml tree where I access a property in each branch. I have the for loop working using the length attribute for xml but when i want to use:
for (var i:uint=1; i<=condechiTotal; i++) {
trace(condechiXML.condesa["lote["+i+"]"].loteid);
}
my trace returns blank lines.
i was wondering, how can i extract thumbnail from a flash-video file, then display it in a listbox.the listbox is suppose to have many videos which i need to extract thumbnails from programatically with actionscript.the flash-player is going to be on the web, and the extraction must happen when the swf file is loading, therefore, the method must not be too time-taking.
View 4 Replieshave a SWF that I want to extract VideoFrames from.They appear under this name when the SWF is opened with 7-Zip (VideoFrame).Obviously, extracting them in that manner accomplishes nothing, as they are not in any recognizable image format.I have loaded the SWF into Flash Professional CS5, and am able to view all the Bitmap objects (assembled in a "UI", overlaying the video animation at one corner) in the Library, but I cannot find an enumeration of the video frames anywhere, or even find the object displaying them.
EDIT: I do NOT want to simply export the entire frames of the SWF, as there are several UI elements overlaying the video. I know for a fact that the entire video frames are present (just partly covered up). I want to extract the frames of the embedded video, not the SWF frames.
I am currently working on a project which relies on variables and constants defined in an external .swf-File. As I don't have the sourcecode to the .swf file I need to extract the content of these variables by decompiling and copy&pasting the variables by hand. I was wondering if there is a way to extract these variables by analysing the bytecode using c++ for instance.
View 1 RepliesOnce an MXP has been built, is there any way to un-build, extract, or otherwise view the FLA files from which it was compiled?
View 1 RepliesI am using the loadVars class (Flash 8) to load key/value pairs from a mySQL database through php (example &pic1=pic1.jpg&pic2=pic2.jpg&...).
The ultimate goal is to create a dynamic slideshow with a variable length, depending on how many pics were submitted by the user. Since the associative array object returned by loadVars does not share the "length" property of indexed arrays, my guess is that the values need to be converted into a new indexed array before being able to use them in the slideshow.
connecting web service to AS3.i have a response from XML i.e.
<s:Envelope xmlns:s="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<s:Body>
<GreetUserResponse xmlns="http://tempuri.org/">[code]....
I want to extract Welcome out of it. I am unable to do so.
my question could sound noobish, but... I'm having a headache trying to do a very simple operation. I have loaded a SWF with Greensock's SWFLoader, and now I want to instance a Bitmap with linkage "DotMatrixPattern" and use its Bitmap content to create a pattern with beginBitmapFill: the problem is... how do I extract the Bitmap from DotMatrixPattern? I am able to instance DotMatrixPattern, but then? DotMatrixPattern.rawContent?
View 1 Replieswhat I'm trying to do is make a preloader that will preload about 20 external SWF files before it lets you get to my main file. I want to do this because my main file needs the SWFs to be ready to go once its done loading. I have looked around and i found a few ways to do this with the "if (loadedBytes>=totalBytes)" and the code loops back till the files are done loading... this would be just what i need but i cant seem to get it to work. the file just seems to start loading my files but does not loop and just runs the time-line even once i state what frames i want it to loop.
View 6 Repliesbasically my issue is that im trying to extract a certain color from my bitmap data, i have the bitmap data being created from an image the user specifies and i can/have drawn that onto the the stage, which works fine and dandy but what i need to do is extract a color from the image and present just that to the user but try as i might i cant get it to work
