I'm using MTASC's haXe to compile SWF from AS. Considering I don't have Adobe CS, what are our options to extract the action scripts from any FLA file?
I mean different versions, like CS4, CS5, etc. Converting older versions to CS5
I have been given an SWF to edit a link in the AS code. The fact is the SWF uses some XML that is generated (actually retrieved) by PHP code from a database. menuXML.load("/sub/page/dynamic.php?genre=" + genre); so the point is we can use the same SWF 'mainfraim' and fill them with different animations/sources based on the link provided in dynamic.php?genre=### Now, I've used Flash Decompiler Gold to extract all files in the SWF and can open it again in Adobe Flash to edit it. When done I enter CTRL+ENTER and there are immediately 4 compiler errors!! Errors:
1x < Unexpected 'if' encountered >
2x < Statement block must be terminated by '}' >
1x < Ecpected a field name after '.' operator. >
How can these errors be present, when the original SWF works perfectly??! If I don't manage to solve this, I'll have to find out how to create an .php file the SWF tries to use which can select the proper resources (from a database I guess) to show them (using ?genre=###)
I have a flash object (with an swf extension). The flash object contains an image which I need to extract and use instead of the swf file..especially for devices not supporting flash. How can we extract the image from an swf (flash) file? what tools can I use?

I have managed to access ytID (YouTube video ID) along with the ytName (YouTube video name) from a specific channel (called through the loader). I am stumped on how to get the thumbnail URL. I have managed to find out that through YouTube, its tag is media:thumbnail, however, Flash gives me an error for trying to use a semicolon.

I'm building a 10 channel mixer/remixer in Flash. Users can select a "song" to load from an xml driven combo box at the top of the application. In the document class, there is a function that takes the selected item from the combo box and loads in an external swf, which just serves as a library for the 10 sounds of a particular song. I then have to extract each of these sounds by their class names ("Track1", "Track2", "Track3", etc...) and send them off to their respective "MixerChannel" objects. As you can see, the following code block in the "initHandler" is pretty long and redundant. Is there any other way/shortcuts I can use to reduce the code a bit?

i was wondering, how can i extract thumbnail from a flash-video file, then display it in a listbox.the listbox is suppose to have many videos which i need to extract thumbnails from programatically with actionscript.the flash-player is going to be on the web, and the extraction must happen when the swf file is loading, therefore, the method must not be too time-taking.

EDIT: I do NOT want to simply export the entire frames of the SWF, as there are several UI elements overlaying the video. I know for a fact that the entire video frames are present (just partly covered up). I want to extract the frames of the embedded video, not the SWF frames.
I am currently working on a project which relies on variables and constants defined in an external .swf-File. As I don't have the sourcecode to the .swf file I need to extract the content of these variables by decompiling and copy&pasting the variables by hand. I was wondering if there is a way to extract these variables by analysing the bytecode using c++ for instance.

I just need to get the image data and display it in the Flash movie. The frame to extract will be chosen by the user, which is why I'd like to do this purely on the client side (though I know I could do it from the server side).

I've created a flash animation (the backgroung is moving horizontally and vertically according to the movement of the mouse), the problem is that when I open my SWF file in Adobe Flash Player 10.0 the whole animation is shaking. (In Adobe Flash in preview mode it looks fine)

also, some times and only for some files when I save the cs4 file as uncompressed cs5 and then save that uncompressed cs5 to normal cs5 the conversion works and some times not.
ofcourse any of the cs5 files cannot be saved as cs3 or cs2 for no reasons..
p/s: microsoft office can be saved to any previous versions..

But it does not work=( - gives me Error: Error #2030: End of file was encountered.
How to get a full bytearray from stream to use it as normal bytearray?
I'm working on an Adobe Air Desktop App ATM. My question is how to get the icon for a given file extension, but without actually loading up a file of such type.
I had the idea to just create a blank file for the extension and then delete it once i have the bitmap for its icon, but that seemed like too much trouble and kinda inefficient.
So for example i want to get the icon associated with a .txt file, or .html file. Is their any way of doing such without having to directly reference and existing file , or create a temporary one as mentioned above?
I'm building an Air app that uses an .app/.exe file as a bridge to hardware devices.
Ideally, I would like to include the executable with the Air app installer and launch the external program together with the Air app.
How do decide which OS specific file to launch?

I am trying to use the SecureSWF demo to package an Adobe AIR application in order to determine if we should buy the full version of SecureSWF for our project. The AIR file was created with the Flash CS5 authoring tool (not Flex).
However, I have not been able to find clear instructions on how to secure an AIR file using the software. I opened the installer (my_installer.air) in the program and it prompted me to find the adt.jar file; however, searching my system I found about 10 of these, relating to different Adobe programs. I chose the one associated with Flash CS5. I selected my certificate and signed it with the correct password. Right now I am just running in test mode to try to get a working file. However, after running secureSWF on the file, it will not install, giving the error "The application could not be installed because the AIR file is damaged. Try obtaining a new AIR file from the application author."
I have a feeling that this has something to do with either the adt.jar file or the certificate not being signed properly. But I have no idea what to do now and we really need to be able to obfuscate this project.
Has anyone used secureSWF with AIR before? Am I doing this wrong (i.e. should I be using the program with the project's swf file instead?)

View 1 RepliesI hope someone here can help me figure out why my Flash CS4 on a Mac 10.6.2 machine crashes unexpectedly every time I open a file. (I have posted the entire crash log below) The program will open, and even stay open when I choose a .fla file for about 5-10 seconds and then CRASH every time. For what it's worth, all my other design collection programs work fine.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalled the Flash app., but it didn't do anything. I have also tried deleting all preference files and application support files in my user, and the problem persists.Does anyone have any ideas?
