View 3 RepliesFirstly, although I've been using Flash on and off for years (since CS3) I don't use it very often so I apologise if my issue seems simplistic.Basically, I used Flash CS3 for a few years to create basic animations for clients, involving simple scrolling text, without any problems.Recently I upgraded to the CS4 Master Suite and then CS5 Master Suite within a couple of days of each other and I now need to use Flash to make a change to an old animation.When I opened the CS3 file it appears as expected and I made the changes to the text (changing a word or two within a line of type).When I right clicked on the type relevant frames within the timeline I noticed that there is now more than one version of tween available, and that classic tween was already selected (I think I better buy a new teach yourself Flash CS5 book!)
Anyway, that was allI needed to do so I initially pressed return and the text scrolled across the stage as expected.But when I clicked on CONTROL / TEST MOVIE / TEST (or cmd+Return on my Mac) the SWF file that appears is static and the text does not scroll at all.If I publish the movie using Actionscript 3 or 2 the resulting SWF file is also totally static. But if I drop the SWF file into the relevant website folder and view it through Dreamweaver's browser view facility it works perfectly and scrolls just as expected.Equally, opening it using the Opera browser works too.
I've tried altering the CS3 file and testing the movie in Flash CS4 and Flash CS5 but the same thing happens.It's a bit time wasting and inefficient wanting to test an animation as a SWF file by double clicking on it and only being shown a static image.Is this a well known problem as I couldn't find any mention of it during my search?
I've created a flash animation (the backgroung is moving horizontally and vertically according to the movement of the mouse), the problem is that when I open my SWF file in Adobe Flash Player 10.0 the whole animation is shaking. (In Adobe Flash in preview mode it looks fine)

also, some times and only for some files when I save the cs4 file as uncompressed cs5 and then save that uncompressed cs5 to normal cs5 the conversion works and some times not.
ofcourse any of the cs5 files cannot be saved as cs3 or cs2 for no reasons..
p/s: microsoft office can be saved to any previous versions..
I hope someone here can help me figure out why my Flash CS4 on a Mac 10.6.2 machine crashes unexpectedly every time I open a file. (I have posted the entire crash log below) The program will open, and even stay open when I choose a .fla file for about 5-10 seconds and then CRASH every time. For what it's worth, all my other design collection programs work fine.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalled the Flash app., but it didn't do anything. I have also tried deleting all preference files and application support files in my user, and the problem persists.Does anyone have any ideas? I have a Flash job to get out and no way to work on it![code]

View 4 RepliesI was editing an FLA file which was Read Only due to our versioning system (P4) however, when I did not have a file checked out (therefore was Read Only), I did not get an error when I saved the file (there was even a save progress bar!) - yet when I opened the file again, all the information I had "Saved" was not there. I tested this out on several other non-checked out files (read-only files) and I was still able to hit "save" on all of them - but it did not actually save the file. In none of these instances was I alerted that I was trying to edit a read only file.

But if I don't work on Flash Builder or Flash CS5 for several minutes, Flash crashes everytime ! I have never worked once on the combo Flash CS5 / Flash builder 4 without having Flash crashing !It is very annoying, and a huge waste of time

For some reason I am unable to create a FLV file from a MP4 file with high bitrate. I even created a custom setting and specified bitrate as 2500 but the output file is always around 775.

In my machine I have installed only Adobe Flash CS5 proffesional trial version. Now this installation is not supporting adobe.utils.Extension class in this version. View 1 RepliesI'm making a game with Flash CS5.5 and exporting it to a APK file (AIR for Android).The trouble is that the APK file is really just a ZIP file, so you can extract the content and inside there is my game as a regular SWF file. Anyone can upload this to any website and play the game there.
I don't want the SWF file to work unless opened like it should, inside the APK file through Android.Is there any way to know through ActionScript 3 code if the SWF file has been extracted from the APK file and has been opened as a normal SWF file?
Is Flash a part of Captivate or do I need it to be able to put interactive quizzes into a document. It sort of sounds like Captivate 5.5 is all that I would need. My basic task is to take a PDF file and/or a MS word document and add interactive quiz questions to the document. I don't even need to record them to a database. I have been trying to learn what a bunch of these Adobe products are and what they do and don't do for over a week and finally I got some real help in this forum this morning.

View 1 RepliesI'm having an odd problem that I can't seem to resolve. I'm updating some old animations (created around 2004-2005). Most have gone without a hitch, however one file has been a problem.
First the specs: Windows 7 64bit, Master Collection CS5.5. All updated.
The problem with the file:
I can open it just fine, test the movie, etc. If I try to save the document, it fails, saying "Unable to save the document as...". I can save the file as a CS4 document, which seems to work OK. However, I need to move the contents into a new document. If I try to Copy the laters, Flash immediately crashes.
I having difficulties importing a .mov file into Adobe Media Encoder that came with my Flash CS4 Professional program
I am receiving an error telling me that the file could not be imported.I have QuickTime installed on my PC. The media encoder recognizes the file but is having problems importing the file. Error code is : g:PRIVATEJVCCQAVCLIP68_01.MOV could not be imported
If i open .as file (or something else) in Notepad++ and select any variable or some other text, it will highlight all of the occurences of this variable in text of this opened document. And you can quickly see where this variable have assignemnts and so on. But in Flash CS3 i can only use standard Find dialog to search throug opened .as file and it finds only one occurence, then you hit "Find Next" and you've got another. Not so comfortable. So does that feature exist in Flash CS IDE, or something similar? (i can't find that)

How do i get the SWF to have a solid background when opened by buttons?

View 9 RepliesI have to browse for and open a file in AIR. I can access the file via the File class:

And I can browse for a file via the FileReference class:
var fileRef:FileReference = new FileReference();
fileRef.browse(allTypes);
But I cannot seem to get the file from the FileReference object into the File object.
There is no "path" member exposed when debugging the FileReference after opening it
All the walkthroughs I've seen specify either desktop, local files as the initial view when calling browseForOpen.
Is there a way to have the air application remember the last location a file was loaded from and default back there?
If necessary I suppose the path could be written to the local db, but even still, I do not know how to get the filepath of the loaded file.
I am currently developing a virtual world with Flash CS 3 and AS 3 in the client side. Everything seems fine until I found that the flash player in the browser stops working when you minimized the browser or open another tab. It makes a huge problem in my virtual world, because when one player moves from location A to location B, and in the middle of the animation process (moving the player from A to B) the user minimized the browser then the animation process (and another process I assumed) is stopped. That would make a different location between the player current location (in the client side) with the server side and another client.
My question is how we keep the flash player keep working although the browser is minimized or another tab is opened? Just like most of facebook games or youtube player (keep playing the video although you are viewing another tab).
How can I hide a movie clip (HideMe_mc) which is on Stage when I open my .SWF file? User can unhide it whenever he required.
View 1 RepliesI made a little trivia game that loads questions from an xml file. The problem is, if you leave the app and come back to it, it starts you back at the start screen again. Is there anyway to overwrite this, or is it the same as refreshing a browser page with a Flash animation on it, it'll always keep restarting?
