then you'll see a confirmation popup for the download, then you choose where do you want to save the file, and the flash movie saves the file!
When ever I try to save a cs4 file as CS5 the adobe flash cs5 will stop responding for no reasons
also, some times and only for some files when I save the cs4 file as uncompressed cs5 and then save that uncompressed cs5 to normal cs5 the conversion works and some times not.
ofcourse any of the cs5 files cannot be saved as cs3 or cs2 for no reasons..
p/s: microsoft office can be saved to any previous versions..
I need a way to be able to download a file without the prompt of save as using filereference i need to download this file, manipulate the file and then later on, upload it back to the server!
View 4 RepliesI am working on Adobe AIR application and some test users report to me about same issue.When they try to save the project file from this application, they have no possibility to add any extension (".txt", ".xml" or any other) to the file.
View 1 RepliesI have a bit of code that I want to change to make it save to the application directory. (the directory the application is installed at). While currently the bit of code I have works it just brings up a browse window for me to pick where to save the file. I want it to default to the application directory though.
How do I change it to do just that.

Is there anyway to download a file with the URLLoader and then save it to the disk without using filereference or anything that uses a dialog? This is what I have but isn't working:

A friend of mine is trying to download the Adobe Flash CS5.5 trial, however he is getting an "Error #2046" whenever he tries to do so. Also happens with other downloadables, browser does not matter.
View 1 RepliesThe app itself will require some data from an online database to be downloaded and stored locally, so that the kiosk can be safely disconnected from the internet while running, and reconnected later to update its data.I'm currently trying to figure out the best way to do this. I figured that the data's easily enough loaded from a server-side PHP script and saved to a local SQLite database for offline usage, but I haven't been able to find any solid method of downloading and saving images. At least, not without using a save dialog.
View 1 RepliesI have a few buttons rigged up for downloading word.doc, mp3 etc
Problem is its opening the file rather than giving a download this file option.
I want to develop an AIR application that will let users of my website download multiple files in a single process. My database stores details of all the files uploaded by a user so I want them to be able to simply choose a location on local disk then download all files they have uploaded to this location.
Are there any good tutorials or source code examples for a simple yet effective AIR download manager developed using Flash CS4. I have come across a Flex based tutorial, so how would I go about using this to develop it in Flash?
How do we save file locally in Flash (ActionScript 3) without displaying dialog. I know we can use the following code to save file locally but it prompts Save dialog. I don't want this dialog while saving file locally.

I want to download Adobe Flash CS3, where can I? This is most likely because my computer won't support the latest version.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to be able to play games on my Blackberry 8230 and I do not know which Adobe Flash Player/Flash Lite to download.
View 1 RepliesI am making a desktop Flash application (AS3). It provides to users an opportunity to save and open their projects.I've used FileReference to open project file
var fileRef:FileReference = new FileReference();
var ourTypes:Array=new Array(new FileFilter("Map Editor type (*.xml)", "*.xml"));
fileRef.browse(ourTypes);
and use file content by using fileRef.data.
var mainXml:XML;
mainXml=new XML(fileRef.data);
User must have an opportunity to add some data in this file (not only read). How can I save new data in the same file?
I need to figure out a way to allow users to save their galaxy in an outer space game that I'm building. At the most basic level, I need to write the randomly generated galaxy (which is an instance of a custom class) to disk and then read it from the disk later. I've not used Air's filestream abilities before and I'm having a bit of trouble. [code]...
View 2 Repliesdownloading a flash movie in a website and save it as mpg. Here's the link [URL]
View 1 RepliesSo I basically have used the fileReference class to allow the user to download a determined file if he wants to.
I use the file.download(URL) function and it works well.
However, the file is downloaded and saved to the hard drive using only the flash player. The browser is not aware of the download, and thus, if I want to show the progress of the download I'd have to make some progress bar myself. I know how to do it, but it would become really tedious and take too much UI space.
Isn't there a damn way in Flash to "send" a determined file to the browser so that it prompts the user to download it? It's an image file, so navigateToURL doesn't cut it since it will just display the image, both if I use a new tab or the current one.
Here is an example of what I am looking to do. I want to figure out how to locate and save the original (LARGE) image shown here in the zoom box.[URL]..
View 1 RepliesThe goal is to download a jpg from server using Loader or URLLoader and save it directly to to a file in the userDirectory.As far as i know, I cannot do this using fileReference without opening a dialogue box.So here is what I got:
var imageLoader:Loader = new Loader();
imageLoader:Loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onLoaded);
function onLoaded(e:Event):void {

I want to download a file in flex. Here is my desired flow User clicks "view" Code goes to backend and get the file as an array of bytes bytes sent from java to flex via a callback flex then opens dialog and user decides where to save the file Unfortunately the last part is not on a user event but on the callback from the server. When I call new FileReference().save(...) it tells me this. An alternative could be
User clicks "view" Flex shows user the dialog and user chooses where to save file Flex goes to backend requesting bytes of file bytes sent to flex and data is saved. For this approach I am unsure how I can make the save asynchronous from the dialog. I want the user to save a file but the data but come from an array of bytes from the backend
Is there any possibility in Adobe AIR to control bandwidth usage with AIR when downloading a file using URLStream?
View 3 RepliesI'm trying to download a zip file through Flash via a php file using this code:

We used Flex to build the web app below. It lets the user build an interactive activity and click "Publish as Flash" to save a SWF file on their local computer.[url]...
Problem:When saving the file, the "Save As Filetype" drop down is empty and end users can accidentally delete the swf file extension in the filename.How can we lock down the extension so it will always have SWF in the extension?
Technique 1? Set "Save As Filetype" to SWF by default.
Technique 2? Click "Publish as Flash". User specifies the filename. File is saved on the server. User presented with prompt to download file. File is downloaded from the server using the traditional browser windows explorer dialog box (the same dialog box if I downloaded a program from cnet's downloads.com)
Basically I created a flash site and uploaded it onto the server provider the client chose using cute ftp. That's all fine but now they want to add a link enabling the viewer to download a PDF straight to their desktop. As I can't upload a PDF file to the Flash library, was wondering if anyone had any tips on creating this function?
