Flash :: Getting Icons For File Extensions In Adobe Air?
Sep 11, 2010
I'm working on an Adobe Air Desktop App ATM. My question is how to get the icon for a given file extension, but without actually loading up a file of such type.
I had the idea to just create a blank file for the extension and then delete it once i have the bitmap for its icon, but that seemed like too much trouble and kinda inefficient.
So for example i want to get the icon associated with a .txt file, or .html file. Is their any way of doing such without having to directly reference and existing file , or create a temporary one as mentioned above?
I am trying to develop an android extension for air, but I have a problem with resources.According to this : Official adobe doc - FREContext and this Extending AIR by Oliver Goldman We simply have to add the resources we need in the res file of the Native part, then they are added inside the .ane file and passed to the final apk. In order to access them though we have to use getResourceId( "drawable.background_image" ) instead of R.drawable.background_image
But when I generate my extension, the res file is actually not even included anywhere inside the .ane file and also not inside the final apk. And I have found not a single extension on the net using resources (not even in the adobe samples)For this test I simply use the basic Hello world Vibrate test, but I added a new png in the drawable folder. As you can see while unziping the .ane file, then going to META-INF/ANE/Android-ARM the res file is absent. As a result, the program crashes when I try to access my resource FREContext.getResourceId("drawable.ppy_accessory_manage.png")
PS, here is my batch to compile the ANE :
set adt_directory=C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Flash Builder 4.6sdks4.6.0in set root_directory=C:UsershugoAdobe Flash Builder 4.6 set library_directory=%root_directory%HelloANELibrary
I'm totally new to developing apps for android and am just getting started in flash CS5. According to most tutorials that I can find on the web I need to install an extension from adobe.
see this tutorial Creative Sweet TV - Publish to Android 2.2 from Adobe Flash CS5 | Adobe TV However, when I go to adobe's site they say that the extension isn't available anymore and will be integrated with their new version of Flash Adobe Flash Professional CS5 Extension for Adobe AIR 2.5 - Adobe Labs
I just bought a new Mac to run CS5 and can't believe that now it looks like I'll have to upgrade my software, at more expense, in order to do something that was possible only a short time ago
currently I am coding a android mobile app in Flex with the Flash Builder. I am tring to get the Voice Recognition of the Android Platform working but it seems to be complicated. I managed to write a Native Extension that at least displays the Android style voice recognition that asks for speech input. I found out that for the android system the speech input dialog represents an activity where you can wait for the activity's response and overwrite the onActivityResult function. And there is the problem. Since I have to call the Activity "Voice Recognition" in the FREContext the response of the Voice Recognition Activity gets lost.
I'm using Filereference.save() to save a XML file. It's working fine with default filename. But is there a way to force a file extension on the saved file? I'm using "untitled.xml" as the default filename, but if the user changes it to say "myfile", it gets saved as "myfile", rather than "myfile.xml".
I'm using Filereference.save() to save a jpg file. It'sbasically working fine, but is there anyway to force a fileextension on the saved file? I'm using "untitled.jpg" as thedefault filename, but if the user changes it to say "myfile", itgets saved as "myfile", rather than "myfile.jpg".
I am not new to html or flash but, some what new to XML. I created a carousel based off the tutorials and it works great on my computer but, when I create an html file and attach the .swf file the flash file loads but, the icon images or anything from the .xml file doesn't appear. This is what I use to load my .swf file :
I've been looking at the following example for populating a PupUpMenuButton [URL] and would like to add icons to each menu. Ideally, I would specify the icon in the xml and assign it in a similar way to using labelFunction for the text. The only information I've found via google is to create a menu as follows
(seems I can't include more than one url, but it is an example that creates a menu object using the following function):
private function initMenu():void { menu = new Menu(); menu.dataProvider = xmlList; menu.labelField = "@label"; menu.iconField = "@icon"; }
but I would really prefer to build it all from the XML file.
I have three very old flash movies that have lost their extensions and can not open them any more. how can I open them in the newer Flash 9.0 that I have they were originally done on a PC Flash 3.0.
I have developed a video player in adobe flash cs4 and used all vector arts but when I open this fla file in Adobe Flash CS5 and published it, the swf file size more then fla file.
I didnt even make my .swf file in adobe flash.. i made it (embarrassingly in keynote - and exported the file as a .swf file) ok. i'm working on this file for close to a week - yesterday i noticed the file when exported - was 1.4mb ... and today - when i exported it it was 6.9mb!
I've created a flash animation (the backgroung is moving horizontally and vertically according to the movement of the mouse), the problem is that when I open my SWF file in Adobe Flash Player 10.0 the whole animation is shaking. (In Adobe Flash in preview mode it looks fine)
When ever I try to save a cs4 file as CS5 the adobe flash cs5 will stop responding for no reasons
also, some times and only for some files when I save the cs4 file as uncompressed cs5 and then save that uncompressed cs5 to normal cs5 the conversion works and some times not.
ofcourse any of the cs5 files cannot be saved as cs3 or cs2 for no reasons..
p/s: microsoft office can be saved to any previous versions..
I try to open the macromedia flash 8 version flash file in the Adobe Flash CS4. At that time one "Font Mapping" window came. In that Window "The document "Name" contains one or more fonts currently not available on your system. The text will display and publish with the font mapping below".
I'm using MTASC's haXe to compile SWF from AS. Considering I don't have Adobe CS, what are our options to extract the action scripts from any FLA file?
I mean different versions, like CS4, CS5, etc. Converting older versions to CS5
I am trying to use the SecureSWF demo to package an Adobe AIR application in order to determine if we should buy the full version of SecureSWF for our project. The AIR file was created with the Flash CS5 authoring tool (not Flex).
However, I have not been able to find clear instructions on how to secure an AIR file using the software. I opened the installer (my_installer.air) in the program and it prompted me to find the adt.jar file; however, searching my system I found about 10 of these, relating to different Adobe programs. I chose the one associated with Flash CS5. I selected my certificate and signed it with the correct password. Right now I am just running in test mode to try to get a working file. However, after running secureSWF on the file, it will not install, giving the error "The application could not be installed because the AIR file is damaged. Try obtaining a new AIR file from the application author."
I have a feeling that this has something to do with either the adt.jar file or the certificate not being signed properly. But I have no idea what to do now and we really need to be able to obfuscate this project.
Has anyone used secureSWF with AIR before? Am I doing this wrong (i.e. should I be using the program with the project's swf file instead?)
I hope someone here can help me figure out why my Flash CS4 on a Mac 10.6.2 machine crashes unexpectedly every time I open a file. (I have posted the entire crash log below) The program will open, and even stay open when I choose a .fla file for about 5-10 seconds and then CRASH every time. For what it's worth, all my other design collection programs work fine.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalled the Flash app., but it didn't do anything. I have also tried deleting all preference files and application support files in my user, and the problem persists.Does anyone have any ideas? I have a Flash job to get out and no way to work on it![code]
have doing my project in flash cs5.5. But then suddenly my file cannot open it.It appear like this "an error occurred opening file C:....menu.fla" and also "Flash cannot parse this document." "The following JavaScript error(s) occurred:".
Has anyone been able to successfully implement a service to serve the required socket policy file to FlashPlayer?I am running the Python implementation of the service provided by Adobe at
I'm just starting out with my first Adobe Air project (I'm a pure AS3 developer by trade).I'm planning to build an image editor which supports layers. I'm wondering what the best way would be to store an entire project including layer data (images) to a users hard disk.I'm wondering if there is any pros/cons in creating a custom file format for my application. The idea is I will be able to store an entire project in a single file. This will be done by writing meta data to the file's header such as the image dimensions, layer names, layer data offsets etc...I'm trying to be mindful of the issues which might arrise such as maintaining backwards compatibility after adding new project features/meta etc.I guess I'm asking whether people have any advice or experience with creating a custom file format for Adobe Air and if there are any other 'out-of-the-box' solutions to saving 'complex' data to a users hard disk.
I published an app to Air 2.5 (.air) from Adobe Flash CS 5 and afterwards also to Air Android (.apk) Since then I receive this error message if I try to publish as .air again:
Error creating files. Icon file is missing.
I tried to delete and recreate the folder and pathes but the error still appears.
