Flex :: Flash Player In Chrome Is Not Updating Unless The Browser Is Resized?
Nov 18, 2011
I have a strange issue where Flash Player in Chrome is not updating unless the browser is resized. The app is an online design tool, written in Flex, and one of the features allows the user to upload an image and crop it. The image loads fine, and the crop action does not reload the image but uses Bitmap.copyPixels to create the cropped version.When I test on localhost (though a local server not just straight from the file system) the issue does not happen. However on our QA server the image does not appear unless you resize the browser, when I suppose a screen refresh is forced.I've tried all the usual suspects in AS3/Flex to force a redraw, updateAfterEvent, invalidateDisplayList, etc.we came up with is to resize the browser by a pixel, but this is obviously not ideal and I'd prefer a solution to a work-around.Here's the Bitmap code for reference...
var cropData:BitmapData = new BitmapData( _crop.width, _crop.height );
var originalData:BitmapData = new BitmapData( _loader.width, _loader.height );
originalData.draw( _loader );[code]....
i have my project developed in Flex3, http:[url]....i am facing is, copying(Ctrl + C) the content from screen textarea when the swf is running in chrome browser.suppose, i have to add some text on the stage, so the text area which is opened on the left side, i can't copy the text written in text area, although by right clicking in text area, and selcting the copy option, thats working, but my client has asked for copying the content by using Ctrl + c, although it's working very fine with other browsers,
only chrome is not supporting copying(Ctrl + c), although selecting all(Ctrl + A ) is working.
How do I make my flash game keep picture quality when browser is resized.I built a flash game combining using actionscript and whenever the player or browser is resized it loses quality.Is there a way so, if the browser for example is made smaller the game's picture still keeps its display quality
The following code is okay as it works fine and opens the Projects.pdf file in same window. But the problem is when I use browser back button, it takes me to home page instead of Projects page.[code]...
I want to upload directly to an S3 bucket.I know this can be done in AIR,whether it is actually possible in flex in the browser, or will I have to use some code server side to get this going?
Firstly i am not sure if this is the correct forum, basically i have updated my flash movie on my website, and the updates have taken effect in mozilla and google chrome, however in IE 7 & 8 the old flash movie still displays. I get this is down to the cache and i have tried several code snippets to correct this but nothing seems to make a difference.Is there anything that i can do with the flash code to force the browsers to reload the the movie each time they visit?
I have a problem. I have flash application which loads data from XML files. When I start this application in Google Chrome all XML files loads except one, the largest (100kB).
I want my SWF to fill the browser window, but it's not working in Chrome/FireFox unless the user manually resizes the browser. I'm using Adobe's default, generated html + swfobject.js to show my SWF. In the html, I replaced all flashcontent heights and widths with 100%. Unfortunately, in Chrome when you first open the page the Flash MovieClip doesn't fill the browser and instead retains it's default height and width.
If the user resizes the browser window, everything works fine. Is there a javascript trick or something I can do to make the Flash think it's being resized? I never want scrollbars to appear. I want my application to scale and fill the browser window perfectly -- I want it to get really small if the browser is small and really big if the browser is big. Basically, I want my app to run like a normal Windows app, such as Visual Studio, but in a browser.
I've got an old flex builder 3 project that I imported into Flash Builder 4, and I want this project to run its web applications in my web browser. However, the apps persistently run in the Flash Player instead. This is causing no end of problems because of the flash player bug documented at [URL]..
This might be a simple question, but I'll ask it anyways. I know when I update my flash website I have to clear the cache to view the changes. Now, will all users have to do that to see the new changes, or will the browser eventually detect changes and download the new version?
This question is more about updating swf and xml files on the browser. I have a gallery site that has muliple swf files loaded on the master swf on button click. These swf files loads an xml file. My problem is that whenever I update the xml or swf file, the browser still has the flash cache stored so I have to manually refresh the file to see the changes. As in, I can't just refresh the index.html. I have to refresh the /xml/filename.xml or /flash/filename.swf Which works but then when other people view the site again, they won't know that they have to refresh the files because they don't know the file name or path. Know what I mean? I researched the net and found solutions like using index.php instead of html or using a random variable string like index.php?mod="34342234" but that only seems to update the master swf.
I'm really wanting to incorporate this great floating text technique from levitated.net but updating the ActionScript for Flash Player 8 compatibility is beyond my knowledge. Can anyone lend a hand? Tnx.
I am using an external preloader (loader.swf) to load the movie (ayproj.swf). The preloader works fine when running the .swf file in flash player and when simulating a download in flash cs5 but when i upload it to the internet and open the index.html in which the flash is in a 100% frame it either sticks on 100% (Ff and IE) or just says "pl" (chrome) - the initial text in the dynamic percentage text box.
I am trying to play an FLV file in a flash player but it is not working in IE9 and Chrome. Works in firefox though.url...Theres 2 videos in the above linked page. One uses a simple flash player while the other uses JW player.Both give a "video not found" error in IE9 and Chrome. Both work in Firefox 5 though.(the link to the flv file is given as text on the page)
if there's a way to automatically update the flash player if the user doesn't have the required version. If there's no way, can i make a button to download it directly from my site so the user doesn't have to go to the adobe webpage?
I am designing a fairly simple site made up of a swf (AS3) in an html page. I'm relatively new to it all, but was doing ok until recently! The problem I have is this: The swf within the html loads perfectly from my local drive in all browsers, but when published to the remote server does not display correctly in Safari or Chrome... It is fine in Firefox.
To see it correctly, use Firefox and the link below. To see it fail at the preloader (in fact, it distorts the design of the pre-loader and goes no further) use Chrome or Safari. [URL] The site is unfinished, so there are other issues you may find which I am solving, but this is the one of concern.
I can't remove the right-bar on Internet Explorer: [URL]. In Firefox and Safari everything is perfect... I use overflow-y property to do it. Is maybe not supported bye IE ? overflow-y:hidden;
I have a full-browser flash site, with a movie clip horizontal nav bar at the bottom of the page. I've got everything working well (the background rescaling to fill the browser when the browser window size changes, the horizontal nav bar at the bottom....) for the most part. One thing is really getting to me however. Check out the example I made here: the nav bar sits in the middle of the page. The moment you re-size the browser, it pops into the desired location near the bottom and stays there, even if you continue to re-size. However I want it to appear where it should at the bottom of the window on page load, without having to re-size the browser windowIn the following code, main is the placeholder for the image slideshow that runs in the full browser, menu_mc is the menu.
Does anyone know how to get the width and height in ActionScript for a Flex application running inside the flash player in the web browser.
e.g. In the web browser I can use the tag to embed a Flex application (as a .swf). To the embed tag, I can provide the dimensions. I would like to get these dimensions inside the flex application action script.
Does anyone know how to align objects (movieclips) to the stage, let's says I have a logo and menu positionned on left side and collection of pictures in middle of stage.
I want that after the browser window is resized, the objects are still in the same places but moves dynamically to left side without hiding to user view.
How do I make my flash game keep picture quality when browser is resized.I built a flash game combining using actionscript and whenever the player or browser is resized it loses quality. This really annoys me...Is there a way so, if the browser for example is made smaller the game's picture still keeps its display quality
When the browser is resized, how do I make the movie resize?in the HTML parameters, I put width 100% and height 100% and in the .swf file I have: Stage.scaleMode = "noScale";Stage.align = "TL";ow, I notice if I were to shrink or make my browser stretch out. The swf doesn't resize on it's own to fill the space when larger or resize when you shrink the browser width/height. I've been told to use a listener, but I have no idea how it works, I've tried putting in scripts with no luck.
If you set a .swf with wmode transparent mode and register the Event.RESIZE in it. It will not work correctly in Chrome and will ultimately crash the Flash Player. Of course same thing in FF, EI or any other browser works like a charm. Setting wmode to window fixes the problem but anyone knows a work around with wmode set to transparent?
