Flex :: Amazon - Upload From Flex/flash Player In The Browser To S3?
Dec 9, 2009
I want to upload directly to an S3 bucket.I know this can be done in AIR,whether it is actually possible in flex in the browser, or will I have to use some code server side to get this going?
I've got an old flex builder 3 project that I imported into Flash Builder 4, and I want this project to run its web applications in my web browser. However, the apps persistently run in the Flash Player instead. This is causing no end of problems because of the flash player bug documented at [URL]..
I have a strange issue where Flash Player in Chrome is not updating unless the browser is resized. The app is an online design tool, written in Flex, and one of the features allows the user to upload an image and crop it. The image loads fine, and the crop action does not reload the image but uses Bitmap.copyPixels to create the cropped version.When I test on localhost (though a local server not just straight from the file system) the issue does not happen. However on our QA server the image does not appear unless you resize the browser, when I suppose a screen refresh is forced.I've tried all the usual suspects in AS3/Flex to force a redraw, updateAfterEvent, invalidateDisplayList, etc.we came up with is to resize the browser by a pixel, but this is obviously not ideal and I'd prefer a solution to a work-around.Here's the Bitmap code for reference...
var cropData:BitmapData = new BitmapData( _crop.width, _crop.height ); var originalData:BitmapData = new BitmapData( _loader.width, _loader.height ); originalData.draw( _loader );[code]....
Does anyone know how to get the width and height in ActionScript for a Flex application running inside the flash player in the web browser.
e.g. In the web browser I can use the tag to embed a Flex application (as a .swf). To the embed tag, I can provide the dimensions. I would like to get these dimensions inside the flex application action script.
i have my project developed in Flex3, http:[url]....i am facing is, copying(Ctrl + C) the content from screen textarea when the swf is running in chrome browser.suppose, i have to add some text on the stage, so the text area which is opened on the left side, i can't copy the text written in text area, although by right clicking in text area, and selcting the copy option, thats working, but my client has asked for copying the content by using Ctrl + c, although it's working very fine with other browsers,
only chrome is not supporting copying(Ctrl + c), although selecting all(Ctrl + A ) is working.
So I have a working Flash player using Cloudfront, AS3, NetConnection & NetStream. Works with a FLV, but I need it to work with MP4s. It connects to the stream, and outputs the following:
I want to put an Amazon Associates Carousel widget in my flash game. That means loading an external swf. Here's my attempt:
Code: var loader:Loader = new Loader();[code]....
The only additional information I've been able to find is that the error happens in com.amazon.arsenal.loader::Preloader. It would be useful to know what object is null, or what line of code this occurs on (I have the decompiled source of widget.), but I have no idea how I would find that out.
Can you use the FileReference.upload() function to upload files to Sharepoint or do I have to use the SP web services? This is without adding your own ASP.NET Web Services, just using the built in SP Web Services.
I have a server side code written in java and client side code written in flex. As client makes a request roughly every 3 seconds to the server, then I'm pretty sure I'm running into scalability problems at some point.
As far as I can see, I can host the application either in Google Apps Engine or Amazon Cloud. As I understand Amazon offers a do-it-yourself approach and I have to set up and maintain the cluster myself, which I'm not really fond of so I'm inclined to use GAE, which promises virtually infinite scalability if one can conform to the limitations and restrictions of course.
One of the limitations is the number of requests at 500 per second (can request temporarily more by filling in a special form), which roughly translates to 1500 simultaneous users, each pinging after every 3 seconds to the server.
What bothers me is that I really don't know how big this thing can grow and 1500 players definitely doesn't seem like a lot so besides using Google Apps and perhaps AWS (unless it scales better with what I'm trying to do), what other options do I have, which wouldn't cost me a fortune?
I am currently pulling data from an s3 storage account. S3 has a flat file structure but gives the impression that the files are stored in directories. how do I convert this String[]
I am using grails to render the data as JSON for a flex application using an Advanced Datagrid and need a tree like structure, as if you were browsing files on your desktop.
in other words, suppose I want to send data, like text, programmatically from a Windows app (such as a browser plugin) to a Flash app running in the browser. Well, conceptually, an example of this might be a Flash instant messenger with a textbox and button "Send"; so let's say I want to be able to programmatically paste the text and press Send or otherwise activate it. That's NOT what I am trying to do here in reality (i.e., no,I am not trying to spam other people's chat rooms or anything)but just an illustration of a similar situation.I can include in it whatever widget or hack that may be necessary.The reason why this problem is arising for me is that AFAIK the SDK that is providing me the data I want cannot be directly accessed from Flash, so I need a way to pipe the data from a regular app into Flash. can I have the Flash app interact with other apps through localhost IP? Or are there draconian restrictions on which server Flash in browser can and cannot interact?
I have a flex mobile application that I am working on that I am having issues with selecting an image from roll/taking a picture. My application is not tabbed, however one part of it contains a Tabbed View Navigator with tabs across the bottom. Within one of those tabs, I have the ability to upload an image to a webservice that I have created. However, when I select an image or take the picture, it pops back out to the initial splash screen and the application restarts. If I use the component standalone (outside of the tabbed view navigator) it selects the image and uploads without any problem.
For For some reason, I'm not getting any result returned to me when uploading a file to my server. I'm using a php script, the file gets sent, gets uploaded, but I can't get the return result.
I am firing these event listeners: fileRef.addEventListener(ProgressEvent.PROGRESS, fileRef_progress); fileRef.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, fileRef_complete);
Is it possible to upload a complete folder with subdirectories and files (in the subdirectories) in Flex?
I am using a Flex / BlazeDS / Spring application. The question is not how to transfer the data to the server.The question is: if it is possible to get access to the files and subfolders (recursive) with Flex?
I want to create a custom video like the videos on jibjab, i.e allow a user to upload an image of their face and superimpose this onto a video of a character's face.
I have an HTML form with a file upload element, which is based on Uploadify. Unfortunately, if the browser doesn't have flash installed/enabled (I tested on Chrome and Safari), then the file upload element is completely disappearing, while I would have expected to have at least plain, regular, file upload html element as a fallback.
You can see this behavior even in Uploadify official demo (as of today, 28.2.2011):
none of these work in the situation that flash is installed, but is disabled ! for example, this line:
if (swfobject.getFlashPlayerVersion().major === 0)
behaves the same weather flash is installed and enabled, or installed and disabled I thought about obtaining uploadify API and checking it, but I have found zero examples
How can I programmatically click the browser's Back button from within my Flex application. I'm using deep linking to allow the user to navigate back/forth inside my application. I want this to work when BACKSPACE is clicked inside the application as well, but Flex captures BACKSPACE and the browser doesn't get the event. I don't want to implement browsing history myself within the application, naturally. Can I send BACKSPACE to the containing browser?
I have an actionscript function which is supposed to launch a panel and then fill in Networktopology data inside it.As, network data is too large that it consumes much time and makes browser hang!Even I tried to display busy cursor which also stopped spinning when data was being processed.How can I ensure processing large amount of data does not hang the browser.
A groups of friends are working on a little game that would listen to the microphone as part of the interaction. We've tinkered with processing and flex. What we'd like to know is if anyone has succeeded in:
recording from the microphone using a web app
performing an FFT on this microphone data
In the case of flex, according to the docs "Because sound data from a microphone...do not pass through the global SoundMixer object, the SoundMixer.computeSpectrum() method will not return data from those sources."[1]
My name is Daniel, and im using flash 8. Im building a flash site and wanted to include my audio on a page. I wanted to use a flash player such as [URL] or [URL] to upload my audio then embed it. Do you know how to adapt the player or any other way I could Embed it into my flash site? ps I tried a dynamic text box and inseting the HTML code but that didnt seem to work.
to point out some good tutorials on creating applications in flex that are don't have UI's?Actually, it looks like all I really need to know is how to call afunction upon initialization of the flash object. I tried the creationComplete attribute, but it doesn't work in browser.
I have a file upload script to upload pictures to a server. It has been working fine in all browsers but when I upgraded the flash player to 10.1 in firefox 3.6.6 yesterday it stop working.I retested with another computer and as soon as i installed the flash player 10.1 it stopped working.I did some debbuging and noticed that the error return from the FileReference listener is I/O error.It doesnt make sense because the file is in the server and it works fine in all other browsers.I changed allowScriptAccess from "samedoamin" to "always" without luck. it works perfect in other flash player versions.the HTML that embeds the movie:
I have an app that uploads pictures to the server. When I upgraded Firefox 3.6.6 FP to flash player 10.1 the uploaded stopped working. It still works perfect in other browsers. It works fine in Firefox 3.6.6 but different Flash player version. I did some debugging and noticed that it works fine when I run it in my development environment (Localhost). In the production server it returns I/o Exception but it doesnt make sense because it works for other players and also the file is there. I changed the permissions on the file to 777, the allowScriptAccess to always, tried to make the php path absolute also and no luck. The php file does not use sessions or cookies.

I am using Flash CS4 and would like to use the available browser component in AIR. However, any information I have found online uses Flex to embed this. Is it available in Flash? I was assuming it was part of the AIR architecture, so it would be able to be used in either, but it doesn't seem so.
I need to detect browser/tab closure from within a flex application in order to delete the session information in the server. I'm familiar with JavaScript events but I was wandering if there is an event in flex for application unload or something of that sort ...
I am trying to upload files to my server using a flex program but the swf files are not being uploaded. So I tried to upload other file types such as png, jpg, txt, xml and all of these upload without a problem but swf will not upload.

I recently installed Adobe Flash Builder 4 in standalone mode on a new installation of Windows 7 x64.I can load and build an existing Flex 4.1 project I have been working on, but when I go to run the project in the browser (Firefox 3.6.15), I get:'Launching BensApp' has encountered a problem. An internal error occurred during: 'Launching BensApp'
Clicking the Details >> button reveals:
java.lang.NullPointerException
My project is creating the SWF and container HTML page as expected, but fails to load the browser.
