View 1 RepliesI created some game and would like to let the users play it only on my domain, so to forbid to play it offline or put on some other site. Is there a way to do it? Somehow check domain or so?
View 1 RepliesI want to store some test data for a FlexUnit test in small XML files in my Flex project, and access them trivially for the flex test. How can I load these bits of data synchronously? HTTPService is the way I'd be loading them _a_synchronously, but adding event handlers to my test cases seems like a bit of overkill.
View 2 RepliesI have noticed that I have to put flv files in the same or sub-directories of the application file, for example myproject/bin-debug/flvs/1.flv, and use videodisplay.source="flvs/1.flv" to load.
If I put it in myproject/flvs/1.flv, I cannot load it in VideoDisplay, using videodisplay.source="../flvs/1.flv". However the metadata (duration for example) is retrieved, but play() cannot start it.
I'm currently developing a flex mobile project. I currently need to load local javascript using stagewebview. Like:
var str:String = '<head>'+
'<script src="myLocalJs.js"/>'+
'</head><body>...</body>';
webView:StageWebView = new StageWebView();
webView.loadString(str);
Is there any way to load local javascript using StageWebView? I'm not expecting an answer like 'There is a project called StageWebViewBridge' since it does't have all the features I need.
I'm building an AIR application which will be used to edit slideshows for another app (also built by me, but not in AIR). The slideshows and other data are defined in several xml files which are in the other application's program folder. When trying to load these into my AIR app I get the following error:
fault(mx.messaging.messages::ErrorMessage)#0
body = ""
clientId = "DirectHTTPChannel0"
[code].....
In a very simple first AIR application (I'm using Flash Builder 4.5), I am trying to accomplish the following on my MacBook:
Read a local file (JSON format) into the AIR app. Parse through the file. Display some selected contents in a grid.
That's it.
I've found an example that does some simple JSON parsing in Flex, but the problem is that it loads the JSON source from a remote web site.
So do I need to load any file-specific libraries to make this work in AIR? Or can I simply refer to the file by using the Mac file-path? I just want the local file to be the JSON source. The parsing is already taken care of.
I'm writing a small application for myself and instead of using a database I'd like to just use Excel to store the small amount of data I have on my local file system. I want to be able to load that data without having to use the typical FileReference browse() method as it would just be annoying to do every time I use the application.
The code below seems to find the file fine as the file.exists method below and most of the other attributes seem to be correct but the file.data is always null.I'm guessing this is a security issue and that's why I'm running into this problem but I thought I'd ask and see if there is in fact a way around this problem.
var file:File = new File(fullPath + "\" + currentFolder + ".txt");
if(file.exists) {
var byteArray:ByteArray = file.data;
}
im completely lost on how to do a simple multiline label. The docs say that labels are best used as single lined elements, but that alludes to it being able to do multiline if necessary. Anyone have any clarification on the subject?
View 3 RepliesI'm creating a facebook application in flex. I'm actually working on the friends component that shows your friends who are using the application. now, each friend has a profile image.
I created the component using a s:List element.
In the Skin Class of the element i configured the requestedColumnCount to 3, which means it shows 3 friends. i added buttons to scroll left and right in the list.
Whenever I scroll to see a different friend, for a half of a second i see no image because the List component is loading the image in order to view it.
is there a way to make the list preload all the elements so i won't have this kind of problem ?
I'm developing an application for the Blackberry Playbook using Flash Burrito 4.5 and Flex. I'd like to create a file browser to allow users to load images from the local system into the application. I followed this example [URL] When I click on the Load Image button in the simulator however, the file browser pops up but tells me that "no file was found with the specified filter", even though I don't specify any filter or even if I specify a . filter.
View 2 RepliesI am using a local connection to share data between 2 apps. The receiver has a function that runs every time new data is sent. I need to run another function every time that function runs, how can i do this?

I am writing a Flex application for use on a private intranet with no external Internet access. I want to use Google's 3D Maps Flex API, but it must be connected to the internet to download map tiles on demand.
Is there a way to locally cache the 3D map tiles and data so that I can run this app without an internet connection? And if not, is there a 3D GIS that supports Flex integration and allows for a local map cache?
I am creating a Flex application for intranet use.I need the application to execute files, with different file types (txt, emails, etc.) at specific known locations on the clients computer.Is it possible to give permissions to the Flex application to execute local files? (I have administrative rights on the clients computer)
View 1 RepliesI have 2 flex apps on the same page. I want them to be able to call each other's public functions. I am thinking of using either externalInterface calls or FaBridge to do so.
View 2 RepliesI have a quite different problem with resizing. I have a Flexbook component which uses the middle part of screen (center) with a html header menu and footer. The problem: The scaling works perfectly when we run in the local machine ( Flexbuilder). But when we deploy it to the server its like scaling never existed.. The requirement: when user maximizes the window or minimizes it, the Flexbook should be resized to fit the screen.

View 3 RepliesI have created a simple SWF-loader in ActionScript 3.0. It loads an SWF from a server and then plays it. While downloading, it displays the "loading" screen.Its main defect is that it can load only one Flash application - the one which it is compiled for. Let's say it's named test1.swf.Is there any way to make the loader support more than one Flash app (for example test2.swf and test3.swf)? I mean by passing external parameters to it and not by creating another loader. Is using Javascript the only way to do it? I don't want my loader to require the Javascript support.
View 1 RepliesI know there have been similar threads in the past but I can't seem to find a decent definitive answer / workaround for the problem I'm facing.What I'm trying to do: capture ALT+SHIFT+something keyboard events. Pretty straightforward, right?
Issue: When pressing ALT+SHIFT doesn't seem to ever shoot an event. The only combination that seems to work with ALT is CTRL+ALT +something, as pointed out here.
Question: I've read that the browser catches some of the keyboard events, but this happens with the basic flash player too - maybe that catches events too? Would love to know if there is a solution that doesn't involve messing with JS.
Is it possible to have an AIR application built in Flex run as process or receive intents? For example if I wanted to make a calendar and each time there was an event at a certain time, have the AIR up which isn't running in the foreground, pop-up and inform the user that "it's time". Can it be done with the current stable versions of both AIR and Flex SDK?
View 1 RepliesI have a Flex app I built. It uses the BrowserManager class to listen for changes in the # part of the URL. When a change is made to the hash my application updates accordingly so you can link directly to a state of the application. Also inside my programming when a user clicks something, all I do is use the BrowserManager to update the # and then my listener will apply the correct changes once its finished. I believe this is the best practice way to doing this in Flex.
I have some issues though. When using the Back button in FF or IE, it gets "stuck". for example if the hash is like #state4 clicking the back button will take you to #state3 then #state2 but sometimes get stuck where you can be on #state3 click the back button, see it flicker to #state2 real quick then change back to #state3 preventing you from going back any further in your history.

What's the best way to communicate between 2 Flex/Flash apps on the same webpage? I need a 3rd party Flash app to call a function on my Flex 4 app (they are ready to customize their 3rd party app how I specify). I use ExternalInterface.call("javascript_function", arguments) extensively. I know there's a bridge to go from Javascript to Actionscript as well. So I guess I could go from their flash app -> javascript function -> flex bridge -> my flex app. Do I have to go through javascript? Is there a better way?
View 1 RepliesI´m looking for any kind of information on this subject, kinda hard to find. I´m a ruby programmer and i´m looking for ways to create web apps with RIA, like Adobe Flex.
View 3 RepliesI've looked at a few demos from adobe that show apps built with Flex 4.5 running on iOS from simple list views to video capture. This has made me wonder if its an effective solution to build cross platform mobile apps.
For those of you who have taken Flex 4.5 mobile for a spin, what is your impression on the capability and performance on iOS. Is there anything you can't do with Flex 4.5 mobile that you couldn't with a native app? Are there any limitations?
I always thought that separating the UI from the logic is the way to go like the use of class files in Flash CS3/CS4 or MVC in web frameworks but recently there are plenty of examples and posts using ActionScript embedded in MXML.
View 4 RepliesI've got an old flex builder 3 project that I imported into Flash Builder 4, and I want this project to run its web applications in my web browser. However, the apps persistently run in the Flash Player instead. This is causing no end of problems because of the flash player bug documented at [URL]..

View 1 RepliesI have a task to make simple game that deployed as a facebook app using Adobe Flex. Like most facebook game, I need to show high score, compare score with friends and some other similar functionalities, which I think need some sort of database thing.

I have an Actionscript 3.0 app that I've made using a trial copy of Adobe Flash Builder 4.5.
Now, Flash Builder license has expired. Is there any way to compile my code without using Flash Builder?
I read somewhere that there is a free compiler to do that. What about Flex? Is free? I can use my actionscript code with Flex
