Jun 28, 2010I have noticed that I have to put flv files in the same or sub-directories of the application file, for example myproject/bin-debug/flvs/1.flv, and use videodisplay.source="flvs/1.flv" to load.
If I put it in myproject/flvs/1.flv, I cannot load it in VideoDisplay, using videodisplay.source="../flvs/1.flv". However the metadata (duration for example) is retrieved, but play() cannot start it.

Is there any way to load local javascript using StageWebView? I'm not expecting an answer like 'There is a project called StageWebViewBridge' since it does't have all the features I need.

The slideshows and other data are defined in several xml files which are in the other application's program folder. When trying to load these into my AIR app I get the following error:

Flex :: Load Local File As JSON Source?
Nov 29, 2011In a very simple first AIR application (I'm using Flash Builder 4.5), I am trying to accomplish the following on my MacBook:
Read a local file (JSON format) into the AIR app. Parse through the file. Display some selected contents in a grid.
That's it.
I've found an example that does some simple JSON parsing in Flex, but the problem is that it loads the JSON source from a remote web site.
So do I need to load any file-specific libraries to make this work in AIR? Or can I simply refer to the file by using the Mac file-path? I just want the local file to be the JSON source. The parsing is already taken care of.
Flex :: Load A Local File Without Having To Ask The User To Browse To It First In An AIR Application?
Jul 22, 2011I'm writing a small application for myself and instead of using a database I'd like to just use Excel to store the small amount of data I have on my local file system. I want to be able to load that data without having to use the typical FileReference browse() method as it would just be annoying to do every time I use the application.
The code below seems to find the file fine as the file.exists method below and most of the other attributes seem to be correct but the file.data is always null.I'm guessing this is a security issue and that's why I'm running into this problem but I thought I'd ask and see if there is in fact a way around this problem.

Aug 15, 2010I'm creating a facebook application in flex. I'm actually working on the friends component that shows your friends who are using the application. now, each friend has a profile image.
I created the component using a s:List element.
In the Skin Class of the element i configured the requestedColumnCount to 3, which means it shows 3 friends. i added buttons to scroll left and right in the list.
Whenever I scroll to see a different friend, for a half of a second i see no image because the List component is loading the image in order to view it.
is there a way to make the list preload all the elements so i won't have this kind of problem ?

The problem: The scaling works perfectly when we run in the local machine ( Flexbuilder). But when we deploy it to the server its like scaling never existed.. The requirement: when user maximizes the window or minimizes it, the Flexbook should be resized to fit the screen.

While downloading, it displays the "loading" screen.Its main defect is that it can load only one Flash application - the one which it is compiled for. Let's say it's named test1.swf.Is there any way to make the loader support more than one Flash app (for example test2.swf and test3.swf)? I mean by passing external parameters to it and not by creating another loader. Is using Javascript the only way to do it? I don't want my loader to require the Javascript support.

Jan 6, 2011I know there have been similar threads in the past but I can't seem to find a decent definitive answer / workaround for the problem I'm facing.What I'm trying to do: capture ALT+SHIFT+something keyboard events. Pretty straightforward, right?
Issue: When pressing ALT+SHIFT doesn't seem to ever shoot an event. The only combination that seems to work with ALT is CTRL+ALT +something, as pointed out here.
Question: I've read that the browser catches some of the keyboard events, but this happens with the basic flash player too - maybe that catches events too? Would love to know if there is a solution that doesn't involve messing with JS.

Jul 21, 2010I have a Flex app I built. It uses the BrowserManager class to listen for changes in the # part of the URL. When a change is made to the hash my application updates accordingly so you can link directly to a state of the application. Also inside my programming when a user clicks something, all I do is use the BrowserManager to update the # and then my listener will apply the correct changes once its finished. I believe this is the best practice way to doing this in Flex.
I have some issues though. When using the Back button in FF or IE, it gets "stuck". for example if the hash is like #state4 clicking the back button will take you to #state3 then #state2 but sometimes get stuck where you can be on #state3 click the back button, see it flicker to #state2 real quick then change back to #state3 preventing you from going back any further in your history.

Dec 21, 2010What's the best way to communicate between 2 Flex/Flash apps on the same webpage? I need a 3rd party Flash app to call a function on my Flex 4 app (they are ready to customize their 3rd party app how I specify). I use ExternalInterface.call("javascript_function", arguments) extensively. I know there's a bridge to go from Javascript to Actionscript as well. So I guess I could go from their flash app -> javascript function -> flex bridge -> my flex app. Do I have to go through javascript? Is there a better way?
