but i want to achieve this dynamicall with arrays, objects, or arraycollection (as applicable).I need to loop through each string path using string methods which isnt a problem but how do i create "DYNAMIC" (depth) children?
Is it possible to, if you have an array of class names like ActionScript Code: var city01names:Array = ["pic_01", "pic_02", "pic_03" ...] make a new array which would read these names, instantiate them, and push them into a new array containing the instances of all these pictures, which I could then use for a slideshow?
I have an array collection of strings and integers (which I have displayed in a data grid) and I am wondering if it is possible to export the array collection into an html table? or even a text file for the user to download
I found some pages that had an export to .xls files but I want to stray away from that for now.
While making my choice b/n Array and Arraycollection I get confused why whould I use one and why not another. I have read the theory in langref but apart from that is there some general advantages/disadvantages of one over the another that you have learned from your experience.
If I am a subclass of an Array, how do I access an element?
class ArrayOfFoo extends Array { public function getFooAt(anIndex : int) : Foo { return this[anIndex] as Foo; // <---- looks for an object attribute (named "0", for example) } }
I could wrap an array instead of subclassing it, however lacking a universal IArray interface, that is less than useful for standard and custom functions expecting an Array.
i have a question while reading Flex 4 Cookbook i came across the method to dynamically adding control to the container controls but nowhere i came across with how to provide them with the dynamic properties and events like they have created a button dynamically inside a group control but what good a button be if i cannot give it an event dynamically. in the same way i want to add a tree view inside a vbox but what good that be if cannot provide a data provider to it dynamically.actually i am creating an web application where i add the tree view to a vbox and i want to the data provider should also be dynamic depending upon the option i have selected in the combo box.
I have 4 buttons, all have a number (1 - 4)I want these numbers to be entered into a dynamic box every time one of the buttons is clicked.The dynamic box should only have 4 characters in it, so when a button is clicked, the first characted is dropped, they all move along one and the new character (entered by pressing the button) is added to the end of the string of numbers.I assume this is done in an array somehow.Set an array of 4 elements.when the button is clicked, [0] = [1], [1] = [2]... etc.Then [3] = the number of the button.And then this array is assigned to the box.
I want another array which takes the values of the price from the 1st Array. Can we do something like this? private var another_price_array:Array = [all_array.price]; This second array will be used to populate a ComboBox, or can I populate the combo directly from the first array itself?
I'm using C3S Flash and working in a button. The text on the button is set to 'dynamic' and I'm trying to display an array value in the 'var' field.
Is there any way I can use an array value in a dynamic text field? I can display the entire array by putting the 'menuarray' name into the text 'var' field, but if I try to display a subset of the array like 'menuarray[0][1]' it displays nothing, even though this subset holds a value (it shows up fine in the trace window).
Is there any way to get around creating dozens of variables just to display array items?
I was wondering if it was possible to create the name of a NEW array dynamically. I have tried the following with no success. Does anyone know if this can be done?
Actionscript Code://Tried and failed_global["newArray"+newArrayNumber] = new Array();//Tried and failed_this["newArray"+newArrayNumber] = new Array();//Tried and failednewVariable = _this["newArray"+newArrayNumber];newVariable = new Array();
I'm having an issue with pushing the node contents of my XML to an array. I'm real close and have tried a ton of things, but I'm hoping to get a push here.. The below code works fine, but is limited to 22 chars... I'd like it to parse the node regardless of length by first calculating the length and then looping through the push based on that int (tileWidthNumber). It's important to ignore the commas from the node, and the push each value to the myMap array.
i load an xml file of unknown depth. i "read" it with the of a recursive function. i have declared a results_arr which is the array that will hold the xml data, both attributes like results_arr[xml.name().toString()] = xml.attribute(); and text if there is any on each final xml node. the problem is i am having a problem applying it to the code. here is the code for parsing the xml data :
Code: private var xml:XML; private var results_array:Array; /// array to hold data
I have a flash file with about 32 empy MovieClips on the stage.Basically what I need to do is take an array of images and load them into these empty MovieClips. Hope this makes sense so far.This array will be dynamic and will come from a PHP file.The problem is I'm not sure how to do this? I don't know to take an array in flash and allocate the images to individual MovieClips.
Does anyone have a good tutorial on how to load dynamic text fields with values from an array? There are tutorials on the net but nothing seems to work for me. I'm beginner and need to have it explained in full detail with nothing missing.
i am trying to create a menu which is 100% on the fly. the menu item names are stored in a multidimensional array with attatched sub menu items/names. i am trying to create a mc and a txt field for each item in the top menu. i am trying to also store the newly created mc's and txt fields in an array or their own so i can manage the menu motions/tweens better.however, i get several errors, why wont this work?
This should be simple but I can't come up with or find the answer anywhere. All I want to do is create a series of Arrays with instance names generated on the fly. I then want to reference these later. I have a "for" loop with a variable "count" that I want to add to a base name of rowArray and use the result to create an Array. I would think that it would look something like this:
i defined a global array in the first frame.When the user clicks on a button a value is inputted into the array, and they can click on several so all the different values are stored in an array.I want to display the last value of the array, so the last button they clicked on, on a separate frame.so i define my array like:
_global.purchases = new Array();
and the code on my button is:
on (release){ _global.purchases="awhite"; _root.gotoAndPlay("checkout_page"); }
and the code on the frame with the text box is:
var arrayCount = purchases.length; var latestValue = arrayCount-1; if (purchases[latestValue]=="awhite"){ imagename_txt = "A White"; }
However, the text doesnt display at all. If I trace my array then I get "awhite". If i trace arrayCount I get "6" and "5" for latestValue. But if i try and trace purchases[0] then I get "undefined".

What I'm trying to do is, generating some movieclips in a loop and putting them into an array and then enumerating the array and set an endpoint for each instance of that movieclip:
lastT is the time where the scene was run for the first time. So i'm comparing the time for each instance to that "initial time" and check if its larger than myLevel which varies for each of the instances. So this code first runs for all the instances, each having a different "myLevel", then I expect to see they moved differently. But the result I currently get is all of the instances move to the lowest "myLevel" value and then stop.
I'm trying to add an instance of a MovieClip inside an array. Inside the House Class is a property called HouseObjects. Inside that array, I created a Comp and a Light class. MovieClips are dynamically placed on the stage, via linkage. The MovieClips also act as "toggle buttons." If the button state is ON, value is 1. If the button state if OFF, value is 0.
If the value is 1, I am trying to add MovieClip instance inside the onList Array. Inside that array will be all the instances that have a button state ON.
I created a property called objSelect.
var objSelect:Object;
That variable holds the currentTarget selected. I'm trying to pass it to function trackItems to either push/pop it in the onList array, based on the button status.
I receive an error for this line: onList.pop(objSelect); Incorrect number of arguments. Expected no more than 0. public class House extends MovieClip {

I'm trying to create a dynamic text field which displays the first number contained in an array named _root.arr. I set var to "_root.arr[0]" to catch the first number in the array. Unfortunately it doesn't work because it shows just a blank text field.
I've also noticed that if I just set var to "_root.arr" all the numbers contained in the array will be displayed separeted by a comma.
So, how can I just display the first number in the array?
This should be really simple, but for some reason Flash just isn't operating as I expected.I'm trying to make a keypad for a game, whereby the player must type in the correct number sequence to progress. The player will click the number buttons with the mouse and the numbers will be put into an array, which will then be checked with a confirm button.I have set up the array as follows on the main timeline (it needs to be empty until user presses a number button):
ActionScript Code: keypadnumbers = []; Each number button then contains a variant of the following code (numbers differ):
