I want to resize an image which i have held within an array so that they can be used for thumbnails.
images show in full size i want them resized as i am using the same image for both the main image and the thumbnails to help keep the file size down. Below is the code its all working great now apart from the resizing which i have tried doing all sorts and i cant figure it out.
function loadImage(filePath:String):void { //for loop to load thumbnails for(var thumbnum:int=0; thumbnum<6; thumbnum++)
Alright, this question has been sort of asked, but my case is a tad bit different, as I have searched the forum and haven't found the right answer.I need to resize a dynamic text box to its contents. I know about the TextField.autoSize property, but what I need is only a vertical resize, not horizontal. I tried just doing autosize and then setting the width back to the original width, but it didn't work, and in any case it will most likely make the text malformed.
URL...Its a dynamic positioning template, basically.I'm importing docked_icons.swf onto the stage via the holder movie clip (at the end). However, the position is messed up until I resize the window. From there, it's perfect. How do I set the initial position to be correct?[code]
Using the flash authoring tool, I want to resize a dynamic textfield to a particular height.However, it will not allow me to size the textfield smaller than a height that will fit all of the (multiline) text. How can I override this and make the height smaller so I can use scrollbars?
i'm trying to resize dynamic loaded images, they are loaded from a xml file into a existing movieclip in _root. When I try to resize using _height and _width the images just don't show in the swf. I searched the forum and found that _xscale and _yscale works, but I really need to resize the image with _height and _width
I'm currently building an application that allows users to "import" uploaded images into the FUI and move them around to place them where they want. I have three seperate sections where they can do this and each section has a different maxWidth and maxHeight... What I'm trying to accomplich is to be able dynamically bring the image in resize it so that it fits within the _root.maxWidth and _root.maxHeight, while constraining the proportions, THEN I need it to be be placed (if needed) within the boundry of the section they are importing the image to...
I'm grabbing the image via the tree component and continuing from there... here is my code.
I have a background with a border that is behind dynamic images. I am trying to resize the background to custom fit each jpg that is loaded. However, I cannot get the width/height from the movieclip the jpgs are loaded into and I can't get the width/height from the jpgs.
Is it possible to, if you have an array of class names like ActionScript Code: var city01names:Array = ["pic_01", "pic_02", "pic_03" ...] make a new array which would read these names, instantiate them, and push them into a new array containing the instances of all these pictures, which I could then use for a slideshow?
Morning stackers! So my question today isn't dealing with any code, but how to go about this the correct way from the start. I have a video player built to a static size (max: 800x600) which I'll have to re-code every time I need it to be a different size. What I need it to do in the near future is dynamically resize itself and all the elements inside of it based on 1 width variable that it will received either from HTML or XML. Now to me there are 2 ways to go about this:
Start with the smallest size possible and resize upwards, but I'm unsure of how the Flash movie will actually expand upwards as of right now. Or 2, start with the largest size possible (in this case 800x600) and size everything down. Step 1, I think seems to be the better way to go about this (ala YouTube style), but Step 2 also seems like it could be the easier way? A friend of mine mentioned that I should go with the larger size and have elements resize in each class, then fix to the upper left hand corner. However for the player to fit inside of certain div columns on sites, blogs whatever he said that there will have to be an HTML/CSS side of this... meaning that the div containing the resized flash player will have to cover up the areas of the Flash movie that are not to be shown? Is that possible to put a 800x600 flash movie into a div that smaller then 800 pixels wide? And cover it up with another div?
I have dynamic text field that must be a fixed width and height. The actual text that will populate the dynamic text field is variable. What I would like to do is to reduce the font size if the text does not completely display within the text field's dimensions. How I can accurately perform this? Also, I am using AS 2.

I'm creating a dynamic image gallery that resizes the images to fit the gallery size, and then smooths them out.I feel like I'm super close to getting it to work perfectly. The image smoothing always works, but the resizing is kind of iffy. The first image displayed will resize just fine, but when you view any others they're all distorted or squashed. What's strange is that I've traced out the resized image dimensions and they're exactly what they should be, but the images are still not resizing correctly.
Here's my code! I only included the parts of it that are really relevant, but let me know if you guys want to see all of it. It's a combination of a few tutorials that I found. I may be able to provide a live example, but it's for work so I'm not sure how the nondisclosure agreement would affect that.
Code: var thisWidth:Number; var thisHeight:Number; var maximumHeight:Number;//height to which movieclip to be resized
am trying to have a moviclip on the top right corner of the flash movie no matter the size of the window like here.It works in the swf file but not in the html.The top right movieclip's position is set to
I have a Flex custom BorderContainer component which has text inside of it. If I were to add this in my main Application inside of a panel, the BorderContainer goes outside of the width bounds of the panel due to the text being a set size. I have all of its components in percentages so that it re-sizes when shrunk, but the one part that contains checkboxes and labels (lots of things with text) mess up since the font size doesn't change.
I am pretty positive that the results I am looking for can be done through embedding the font, though I have not been able to come up with a solution from online. I am trying to do this with a CSS style since I will be using it for many different components (I dont just want to change it in the flex code directly).
EDIT Solution:
I attempted to use the ratio as www0z0k had suggested but it caused some serious issues when it was re-sized quickly or to a small screen (the component would not re-size correctly because it was multiplying by the ratio. What finally seems to have worked for me and caused no issues was that I ran the code and found the width (1152) and height (842) of the container.
I then created a const variable of widthX = 1152 and heightY = 842 and in the onResize() function I coded the resize like this: (where bottomGroup is the id of the borderContainer I am trying to resize)
So far I have found some examples of embedding fonts in the <fx:Style> and attempted to remove any delaration of fontSize but that doesn't seem to work.
<fx:Style> @namespace s "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark"; @font-face {
I have a dynamic text field being fed html formatted text from an external text file, and is set to autosize vertically (left), works no problem. I have an animated movie clip behind the text field for a background, so the text looks like it's inside a (animated) colored box. How do I make the background movie clip autosize (vertically) along with the text box above it?
I'm using a tweening engine and I need to be able to base the _yscale % of a movie clip off the height of a dynamic text field that is slightly smaller contained within the movie clip. 52 pixels smaller to be exact.I'm very poor at math but I'm guessing so far that some variable needs to be declared to factor the percentage based off the height of the dynamic text field. And I just can't think of how to do that.What I know so far:movie clip height at 100% _yscale = 396 the 'buffer' space above and below the dynamic field = 52.So if my dynamic text field height = 0, my movie clip would be 52 pixels in height. And that percentage in _yscale is 13.1%.I just can't figure out the math for this and how to translate it into ActionScript.
I am working on image and i like to scale or resize the image by dragging and resize option.same working as "free transform tool" in flash (design part); i need same functionality in application.
I'm having a bit of a problem here. As per the title, my flash swf file works fine when tested from the IDE, but when I publish it and open it through the browser, the stage doesn't seem to resize along with the window.I post below a bare-bones example. The "back" movie clip should resize, only it remains at the starting dimensions
I decided to try to use setInterval for myanimation, which is just a mouse trail.However, I'm trying to get teh mouse trail to be a dynamic mask.In my previous swf this was achieved by using a holder mc with the animation inside and then using this as the mask. But this time I just canpt seem to hit on the right way to get it to work. The code I am using for the mouse trail is:
Code: var i:Number = 0; var myInt:Number; var t:MovieClip;[code].....
in the function, but now the trail doesn't resize and the mask still doesn't work.
I have Buttons which I have rotated vertically within a Canvas, that is working fine. The problem occurs, when the user resizes the window to a small size a vertical scroll bar appears, I would rather have each button squashed upto a smaller size.
I have a main movie here that loads in an external swf through a container mc. everything is aligned and positioned to where it should be, and they are also set to that value onresize. the problem is, when my swf is loaded in, it works fine and is in the right position, same when you resize it. BUT, if you resize the window before the swf is loaded, it misaligns, until you resize!!
I have 4 buttons, all have a number (1 - 4)I want these numbers to be entered into a dynamic box every time one of the buttons is clicked.The dynamic box should only have 4 characters in it, so when a button is clicked, the first characted is dropped, they all move along one and the new character (entered by pressing the button) is added to the end of the string of numbers.I assume this is done in an array somehow.Set an array of 4 elements.when the button is clicked, [0] = [1], [1] = [2]... etc.Then [3] = the number of the button.And then this array is assigned to the box.
I'm using C3S Flash and working in a button. The text on the button is set to 'dynamic' and I'm trying to display an array value in the 'var' field.
Is there any way I can use an array value in a dynamic text field? I can display the entire array by putting the 'menuarray' name into the text 'var' field, but if I try to display a subset of the array like 'menuarray[0][1]' it displays nothing, even though this subset holds a value (it shows up fine in the trace window).
Is there any way to get around creating dozens of variables just to display array items?
