Using the flash authoring tool, I want to resize a dynamic textfield to a particular height.However, it will not allow me to size the textfield smaller than a height that will fit all of the (multiline) text. How can I override this and make the height smaller so I can use scrollbars?
View 5 RepliesI'm using a tweening engine and I need to be able to base the _yscale % of a movie clip off the height of a dynamic text field that is slightly smaller contained within the movie clip. 52 pixels smaller to be exact.I'm very poor at math but I'm guessing so far that some variable needs to be declared to factor the percentage based off the height of the dynamic text field. And I just can't think of how to do that.What I know so far:movie clip height at 100% _yscale = 396 the 'buffer' space above and below the dynamic field = 52.So if my dynamic text field height = 0, my movie clip would be 52 pixels in height. And that percentage in _yscale is 13.1%.I just can't figure out the math for this and how to translate it into ActionScript.

All graphics in this animation area greater than the stage, so I could extend the stage size to 1200 x 450 px.
So, my miz size for the movie is 1200x330 px and max size is 1200x450 px.
Is there a way to show the movie at minimum size or maximum size based on the browser window heigt?
note that the movie is put iside a table in my html file.

If you resize the browser window the flash movie (and only the flash movie) will be shown in different ways. If the browser window is higher enough the whole flash movie is shown. If the browser window is not higher enough, the top and the bottom of the movie will be cut. Of course there is a trick that cuts the movie only to a specified minimum size.
i have this problem with my text field. i have this dynamic text field, and i want to load external text files and show them there. this all works fine and dandy but when i try to make a scrollbar along with it, it gives the height of the text field as the original one from the flash file, not the new text.

I've created a dynamic text field, and set autoSize to true, so it can grow was tall as necessary. I then want to use the _height value to size a container graphic (speech bubble). Here's the (simplified) code:

Returns 19.6 followed immediately by 35.2. It's as though reading txt._height causes it to recalculate, so it's correct the second time. I also tried the textHeight property, which also seems to get recalculated after _height is accessed. This sequence, for example:

i would just like to ask why is the case that when i use embedfonts = true on a textfield, the textfield's text only resizes according to the textfield's height but not the textfield's width. meaning if i make the textfield's height bigger, the text also gets bigger in terms of height, but not width, can't the embedded font maintain aspect ratio according to the textfield height?
I'm only wondering about this because this is not the case when embedfonts= false
how can i make a movieclip and a textfield to resize to the content of the text in the textfield? I mean, if I have a textfield with 3 letters font name XXX and then the content of the field change, how can i resize te textfield so the text dont autoadjust to the 3 letter space?

View 2 RepliesI have a dynamic text field which is just one line of text. For some reason letters like g or p that go below the regular line of text get cut off. I have made the field bigger, and also played around with the _height Property but it doesn't make a difference. I have imported the font into the Library. When I embed it the font doesn't cut off but looks very different. And if I change the field to a static field it doesn't cut off either, but the font looks a little different as well.

However, I want to be able to click these labelnames also, as they appear in this textfield. The textfield is placed just to the right of the menu, to offer shortcuts to visited menu items. I am not trying to populate a textfield with ton of text in authortime, and then clicking some of it - That is not what I am trying to do.

View 9 RepliesI have a sprite menu which populates a dynamic textfield with textlabels as users click individual items in the menu in addition to ordinary actions(gotoAndStop). As these labels appear in the textfield, I want to be able to link them to the frames assosciated with the menu - item frames. As you can understand from this, I am working with the timeline. By enabling html rendering of text in the textfield, I have been able to link these output labels via a a href - tag, but I am not able to call a function from this html. The function I am trying to call uses a switch statement to take the appropriate actions according to which label is being clicked, but the only effect I get is the html opening a browser window...... Unfortunately I do not know how to explain this any better, but here is my code for the following:

I am trying to get the sprite overlay to stick to the edges of the stage when I resize the swf window. It works when you resize the width, but not the height.

I understand how to resize the stage to 100% x 100%, but it seems exceptionally difficult trying to keep a footer MC/Sprite/Shape 20px high yet 100% wide.
I can use EXACT_FIT, but if the browser shrinks or expands the movie clip changes size. Keeping that height static is a pain at the moment!
So, basically I'm just looking for direction. The liquid layout tutorials seem to work for elements NOT stretched 100%...

I am trying to resize a line within a movie clip. I am resizing the mc horizontally, but when I do this the height of the line also changes. I can of course resize the line itself, but this can't be used for tweening. How can I resize/tween a 1px high line horizontally without changing the height as well?

I have code here that allows a user to load an image from their local machine to the SWF (using FileRerence). The movieclip is 500x400 in size and I need the width of the selected image to resize to 500, and crop off any height beyond 400.
