ActionScript 2.0 :: Array Not Updating In Dynamic Textbox?

This should be really simple, but for some reason Flash just isn't operating as I expected.I'm trying to make a keypad for a game, whereby the player must type in the correct number sequence to progress. The player will click the number buttons with the mouse and the numbers will be put into an array, which will then be checked with a confirm button.I have set up the array as follows on the main timeline (it needs to be empty until user presses a number button):

I've made a imput box (textbox) with the name "user" I've declared an array:
var word = new Array(500); word[0]="";(I need this for first word from a text)
When I try to compare the user.text to word [i] for example even if this values appear at trace() the same, the if (user.text=word[i]) give me everytime false.
I created a text area on my stage using the text tool, then converted it to a MovieClip symbol. I called it ScoreLabel and I clicked "Export for ActionScript". I named the instance of the text area scoreLabel. However, when I do this in my code:
scoreLabel.text = this.score;
it doesn't change. That line is in my Main.as file, which is the document class. How can I change the text shown in this text area using ActionScript? Maybe I need to import a library?

i have 2 set of textbox, 1 set of the text box contain 6 textbox and the other set of text box contain 12 textbox. how do i make it like for the first set of textbox to compare with the second set of textbox? eg. 1textbox1.text = 2textbox1.text and the first set of textbox right, each of the 6 textbox have to compare with second set of textbox which is 12 textbox.
I was looking through the posts on how to update dynamic text fields without using a submit button or other method which would cause the entire scene to be called again.

The issue I found is I can't get it to do what I want, which is to add a series of variables together.
I modified the code to this:

It works, but if I type in say " 4 " into the 'num1' input box the total box (dynamic field) becomes a " 4 ". But when I enter in say a " 5 " into the 'num2' input box the total box becomes " 45 " (no " 9 ").
I have an inputbox and a submit button and prev and next button in my screen. Whenever users enter a text in the input box and clicks on the button, the text value is stored in an array. Then users click on the next button and again enters new value in the inputbox and click the submit button. The new value is added in the array.Now suppose if users want to make correction to the values that they have entered for previously entered values, they can click on the previous button and make correction and click on the submit button. For this I think, we have to remove an array value and add a new value to it. I am confused on how to remove and add a new value to that particular place.

Right now I have just added one item for testing purposes (bg) and it works perfectly as long as I don't resize the browser window. I'm no programmer, but as far as I can tell, the class adds items to the array "theObjects" using the function addParallaxItem. The first value is the instance name of the object to add, the second is the horizontal range in pixels which the object is allowed to pan (set to 960 since my stage is 960px wide) and the third is the vertical range(which is set to 0). I can't post the link since my post count is less than 50, but the thing is if the browser window is larger than 960px, the "bg" movieclip shouldn't travel 960px to either side to reach the edge. I'm not very good at math, so I don't know how to calculate the new distance it should travel, which should be less. If someone wants to help, I can PM the link so that you can see what I mean.[code]Obviously, even though the value of the variable is updated, it's not passed to the array.

works fine, but now I would like to update the position of the MovieClips every frame, I understand that it should be in my enter frame function but I dont understand how to access the MovieClips.
I've made a website in Flash, it's the 1st time I've made a site with dynamic loading text.The text loads, that is fine, however, when I update the .txt file, the webpage does not update until I delete my internet history. This obviously no use as I can't expect returning visitors to delete their cache every time they visit.

I have a dynamic textfield on my stage with the instance name trackText.
I have declared public var trackText:TextField;.
When I trace trackText.text it gives me exactly what I expect but the actual text on the stage does not update.

I have some nested movie clips, with a dynamic text object at the end of the chain - if I don't update the the text in the dynamic text field, then it displays fine, however if I set the text at anytime through actionscript, the text disappears. I have tried all sorts of embedding/not embedding font - combinations, but nothing works.Here is a code snippet:

I am definitely setting the correct field in this long list of objects, but for some reason the text in the main_menu_mc... object isn't updating. Interestingly, the text associated with the testing_txt object updates just fine.Below is a small screen shot of the display while running the swf... menu_item8 is obviously the one without any text...
I've created a flash banner which loads 3 images. Each image is loaded using a Loader object. Each Loader object has an event listener which points to the same function. In this function I compute the loaded/total bytes, then I update a dynamic TextField.
The problem is that the TextField doesn't change its text only when all the images are loaded, which means at 100%. I used a trace for percent and it works fine. From what I've read until now, it seems that this can be caused by a lock-up of the UI?

on my onEnterFrame function, I just want to keep updating a Dynamic Text Box location. It's giving me more trouble than I anticipated, and the solution is probably very easy. I have spent 30 minutes (give or take) on trying to figure it out, but to no avail. This is what I have at onEnterFrame:
I am trying to write a preloader for multiple images of unknown size from an external source. Therefore I am counting the clips as they complete and using this as the progress in a dynamic text field. im trying to learn and understand actionscript 2.0... so i figured the first thing i would do is make a simple rpg. What i have done so far is make 4 way movement and now im trying to make a hitTest where the "char" touches the coin and it updates the dnyamic text with the instance of currency and then unload the clip.[code]also i am using flash cs4 so if you need me to reupload it in older format just ask.
I am producing an interesting interactive project. I have 9 sliders from 1-100 that will adjust a total figure. If this total figure adds up to 100, it should stopDrag();
Now this works, however if you move the slider faster than the frame rate, it doesn't stop at 100. I have tried updateAfterEvent(); but not sure of any other options.
Also, I need to be able to drag any sliders back down but not up once it has reached 100.

I've been working with Flash for over 3 years, but I can't figure this one out. I've got a body of text, half of which are bulleted points designated by <li></li>. It's loaded into a html-ised dynamic textbox.

It displays fine as is. However, if I make the box selectable, and select any part of the bulleted list, the ENTIRE body of text turns into a giant bulleted list, including the non-bulleted portion at the beginning. I've managed to replicate this bug with Flash 8 and CS3, using a variety of flas made from scratch.
What I'm after is either loading an asp page with variables or connecting to an SQL database in order to pull out some values to display in a flash movie. When we have is a daily food menu, which I want to display in flash using a dynamic text box. Looking around on the internet, I believe that I can either pull it from the SQL database, or load an ASP page and pull the variables from there.
I have a sort of login, where you enter four digits, if correct you go to another frame. If incorrect you'll have an mc displayed. Easy stuff. Now I have a keypad where you punch the numbers in, and they display inside a dynamic textbox. I have a clearkey mc that I'd like to have operational. My initial thoughts were to use atm.textfield.text == "" that way it'd clear it. Nope, no luck. Any ideas on how to reset a dynamic textbox to blank?
For my problem, i using 5 random generated number and display it in a dynamic textbox, then i computed the 5 number using a formula and put the result in another dynamic textbox (name it as text_string). Then i create a button that function as to read the value in the text_string text box, for example, if the number is 5 then gotosomewhere, else terminated. Therefore, no matter what the result is the flash still terminated, it seems that the button unable to read the value in the text_string text box.
