I did this to dynamcy create a instance of a MovieClip whenever my downKey boolean variable was true

works fine, but now I would like to update the position of the MovieClips every frame, I understand that it should be in my enter frame function but I dont understand how to access the MovieClips.

I have some Headline MovieClips that are been attached on the stage on runtime based on an xml file.
Each Headline is placed one after the other vertically on the stage, and each one of them, when clicked, expands showing the description of the headline, pushing the other headline MovieClips down, according to how much _y is the description occupying.
I did a smilar example with some boxes attached on the stage with a loop, one after the other. Each Box, on RollOver, increases by _yscale to 130% for example and pushes the other Boxes down as:

I'm making a simple puzzle-building game. It's working, but I have just spotted an odd in-game behaviour...When I pick up a piece of the puzzle and move to the left side of the swf, the game runs at a playable frame rate. The farther I move the mouse to the right, the frame rate (or at least update rate) seems to drop.The only code it's running at that point is a method that checks which piece is carried and moves that piece's x and y coords to match the mouse.I've already tried using 'updateAfterEvent' with no change.

I would like to know if there is a way to update the position of the thumb on the Slider component when a movie clip plays. Currently I have a movie clip symbol on my stage with the instance name ShapeMC. It has about 10 frames or animation and two actions. the first frame has a stop action as does the last frame. The actions are on their own layer, separate from the actual animation. I also have the slider component in my library, but it is only there so I can reference it through AS3. My AS3 instantiates a variable of type Slider. I then define the properties, like the width, hieght, thumb size, minimum, maximum, as well as enabling livedragging. I did this so the user can drag the slider and move through the Movie Clip symbol. I added a button that allows the user to click it and autoplay the Movie Clip symbol (ShapeMC). All that works. What I would like to do is when I hit the play button, I would like to see the thumb on the slider move along the slider as the Movie Clip symbol (ShapeMC) plays. So if the Movie Clip symbol reaches frame 5, the slider thumb show be seen as being half way through the tread. I tried putting the currentFrame into the .value property of the slider, but that didn't do anything. No errors, but it didn't move the thumb at all.

I have an inputbox and a submit button and prev and next button in my screen. Whenever users enter a text in the input box and clicks on the button, the text value is stored in an array. Then users click on the next button and again enters new value in the inputbox and click the submit button. The new value is added in the array.Now suppose if users want to make correction to the values that they have entered for previously entered values, they can click on the previous button and make correction and click on the submit button. For this I think, we have to remove an array value and add a new value to it. I am confused on how to remove and add a new value to that particular place.

This should be really simple, but for some reason Flash just isn't operating as I expected.I'm trying to make a keypad for a game, whereby the player must type in the correct number sequence to progress. The player will click the number buttons with the mouse and the numbers will be put into an array, which will then be checked with a confirm button.I have set up the array as follows on the main timeline (it needs to be empty until user presses a number button):

I'm using the following parallax class, which I downloaded from fuoridalcerchio.net, but it's no longer available:[code]I created a mc container named parallaxContainer, which holds the parallax items, and defined it's class as ParallaxBox. Then, to initialize the class, I used (as per the instructions that once were posted on the site I mentioned):[code]
Right now I have just added one item for testing purposes (bg) and it works perfectly as long as I don't resize the browser window. I'm no programmer, but as far as I can tell, the class adds items to the array "theObjects" using the function addParallaxItem. The first value is the instance name of the object to add, the second is the horizontal range in pixels which the object is allowed to pan (set to 960 since my stage is 960px wide) and the third is the vertical range(which is set to 0). I can't post the link since my post count is less than 50, but the thing is if the browser window is larger than 960px, the "bg" movieclip shouldn't travel 960px to either side to reach the edge. I'm not very good at math, so I don't know how to calculate the new distance it should travel, which should be less. If someone wants to help, I can PM the link so that you can see what I mean.[code]Obviously, even though the value of the variable is updated, it's not passed to the array.

when i run get lastIndexof for an array I get returned the the size of the array instead of the position here is the code:[code]but instead of returning the last index of it before the current index, it returns the current index (or jus the array length). help!!! it is my first time using lastIndexOf so I am probably using it incorrectly.ps this does not include some of the function run (i know i am passing a value which it does not look like i am using, but i know that part of the code works)

I have a setup where a girl is holding a card on there are words on each card and as time goes by they fall to the ground. The problem I am running into is that the cards never go back into the loop of cards, once they are out I am just left with a blank card. How could I have it reset this?

I've got a movieclip in my library called primaryCommMC.I'm loading these 5 times onto the stage and naming them commMC0-4 using the following:[code]Right now they're all obviously loading on top of each other. I want to stack these movieclips on top of each other so the first movieclip will be at y=0 and the following at y=(the height of the proceeding MC + 5 (a little gap)).

I have a master MC that's added to the stage via addChild(p2_mc). Inside that p2_mc, I have others MC'S (added to the stage manually, not via addChild). One of them is instanced fond_mc. I want to position that fond_mc in the middle of the stage using that line of code WHEN the stage is resized. Obviously, the following line is into the resize function:
fond_mc.x = stage.stageWidth/2;
I works but returning faulty results because it uses left corner of the mc instead of registration point, which is top and center. I tried all math formula I could think of to no results. Keeps positioning the fond_mc wrongly. I know this is related to registration OR stage measurement. Is there a way to reset stage.stageWidth values INSIDE the resize function?

I am using the following script in a MC to produce an empty movieclip and fill it with evenly spaced movieclips on demand.[code]The last piece of code repeated below should remove one of the attached movieclips when it is created then remove its iteration from the array and loop through all movieclips after it in the array and minus 30 from their y coordinate:[code]When I trace Wine[mc] it produces a list of names of movieclips after it in the array as it should, and the movieclip is removed as it should but the coordinates of the other movieclips remain unchanged.

I am trying to create a movieclip, load a jpg into it, and if successfull, create another movieclip (or even better: create that movieclip right away too), with a textfield in it, and place it under the loaded jpg, depending on the postion and height of the jpg. I tried something like this, but the jpg and text don't show.

If I run the page locally on my machine, the banner looks fine no matter the browser. however, on the free hosting service server, size and position of certain movie clips are messed up in IE, safari and opera. they overlap in places, and u can see the corner of something that's supposed to be off the stage. why? note: the hosting service put some junk after my </body> tag... I'd like to have my movie clips on the stage and run a loop to return their x and y positions, these positions will be stored in an array (startPos:Array) for use later in some other script. I have 7 movieclips on the stage, each with an instance name startobj[a number]
AS2.. Nice all works:

I received help on this site on this info-graphic im doing and the solution was to use an "array" which im not familiar with at all. the person that helped me added the following code that worked:

I am creating a memory sequence game and I was wondering:
1. Is there a way to random position movieclips on the stage without having them overlap each other?
2. Is there a way to have flash draw a vector line from one clip to another in sequence and then have the user retrace what flash did? I have 6 movieclips on the stage, each with their own instance (ex. obj1_mc, obj2_mc, etc.). Is there a way to tell flash to always draw a line between movieclips in sequence even though the movieclips are randomly placed on the stage?

I have a flash project where different movie clips are loaded dynamically according to the data retrieved from an XML file. And they are positioned one after the other as if they were in a menu. Inside those movieclips there is a button that when it's triggered unloads the movieclip so it disappears from the menu/list. Apart from that, I would like the rest of the attached movie clips to tween and move upwards, so the list keeps its form. I'm finding quite difficult figuring out this function. I'm copying the code I'm using :

I use the following code to load some banners: a "banner" is a clickable PNG image. I get the URL it must point to through a parameter of the AdLoader class.

In practice, I create some MovieClip containers (loader_1, loader_2, etc.) and in each container I want to load one image.
What happens: when the images are loaded I want to position each image at the y+10 pixel of the preceding, so if the first is at y:0 and its height is 140, I want the second image at y:150 (and so on). I can't understand what it happens but sometimes the code works, while most of the time it doesn't.

I'm writing a game with Flash CS5/AS 3.0 that tries to simulate depth of field by drawing all the relevant Movie Clips based on their Y position in ascending order, i.e. things lower on the stage overlap things higher on the stage. A MovieClip with a Y position of 10 would therefore need to have a lower index compared to a MovieClip with a Y position of 20, so the second one gets drawn on top of the first.
I wrote a quick and dirty function just to test this. During the trace, I've noticed that the truck's index hits 0 when I go near the top of the stage, but if I go too far up it will completely disappear from the stage. Trace then starts generating this error:

I have a movieclip, which attaches to another movieclip, which scrolls.On click I want to be able to drag that movieclip away from the one it was attached to. When I just removeChild it, it's position changes. I want it to stay in the same spot until it's dragged.Any suggestion, on how I can give it that same position, when not attached?

I have two movieclips in the centre of my stage. One is on top of the other and fade's between them using left/right buttons.I want to change this so that they slide in like a jQuery slider does. I don't want to change the initial position of the movieclips (on top of each other) just change the fade effect to a slide in.
