Dec 18, 2009in other words, suppose I want to send data, like text, programmatically from a Windows app (such as a browser plugin) to a Flash app running in the browser. Well, conceptually, an example of this might be a Flash instant messenger with a textbox and button "Send"; so let's say I want to be able to programmatically paste the text and press Send or otherwise activate it. That's NOT what I am trying to do here in reality (i.e., no,I am not trying to spam other people's chat rooms or anything)but just an illustration of a similar situation.I can include in it whatever widget or hack that may be necessary.The reason why this problem is arising for me is that AFAIK the SDK that is providing me the data I want cannot be directly accessed from Flash, so I need a way to pipe the data from a regular app into Flash. can I have the Flash app interact with other apps through localhost IP? Or are there draconian restrictions on which server Flash in browser can and cannot interact?

Jul 23, 2009I'm having an odd problem that isn't mission critical since I can use the command line with no probs.In my earlier post http:[url]... I had problems getting the web compiler to work.Now that it's working I use this in a browser to compile: http:[url]...
and I get this error as a result:

Everything is legit and the most recommended solution is that the namespaces aren't correct. I've checked those and they're fine. Other answers I've come across relate to external components causing a problem but as you can see, I'm not using an external component.Here's the kicker. If I do a compile via command line:
mxmlc topsight.mxml
it compiles perfectly.Specs are still the same from the prior post and I'm using the Flex 3 SDK.Not sure if this would help but I did the download from http:[url]... and I clicked on the Open Source Flex SDK - Milestone 3.3

Dec 16, 2010Im here to ask a probably dumb question again. This is related to my previous questions. I current found a way for flash/flex to send a video file(in byteArray) to php. Where php receives and writes it in the local sytem then sends it to the youtube server automatically trhu a script.This is all backend though I have no way to check if the video file was uploaded succesfully in youtube than to check it manually in youtube.
So im thinking of a new php script where it will receive and write the video file from flash. Then opening a browser window where it will automatically upload the video and at the same time track it thru the browser of its status using debug prints perhaps.
Im barely still learning php. I tried to do some research on this but found no success.

The requirement is that 1 user can view multiple windows (or panel, or canvas) of multiple stock symbols at the same time. I want to have 1 button, when I click at that button, a new panel will be pop up in a new WebBrowser tab. 1 user can open 5 or more panels like that in 5 more webbrowser tab to see 5 different stocks. And all 5 panels must be managed by the main Application. So that the Application can send stock price data to those 5 panels.

Jan 17, 2006 I have a PHP mailer form on my site which needs to be published in action script2 to work, but I also have a script set up to open browser windows of a certain size & location which needs actionscript 1 to work? The PHP mailer form has a "Name" field, "Email" field & "Message" field, theses can all be reset with a button. The button clears off any text in the 3 boxes to wipe them clean. The script on the reset button is:

This works fine with section script 2 but not with as1. Does anyone know of a script that resets the .text field on as1 Alternatively is there any way of opening browser windows from a flash movie with browser win controls, eg. centre win, no scrollbars.
Flex :: Flash Projector With Multiple Windows, Each With A New FlashPlayer Instance?
Oct 22, 2010Does anyone know of a flash projector 'project' or 'framework' that uses a new flashPlayer for each window?We've used mProjector, which works well to a point, but I'm very disappointed in the fileIO patterns they use. It is very buggy with regard to reading and writing files.
mdm zinc uses multiple windows, but it is all sits on one flashPlayer 'session'. The same applies for AIR. It is great, but there isn't a way to make each window run on a seperate flashPlayer... extreme number crunching on one window will lock up all other windows.
edit - Just to clarify my needs (since I'm adding a little bounty), the app is an ERP application, built on Flex 3.x, and the size and scope of the project == huge.
tl;dr -- I need an exe wrapper (for windows), similar to AIR, that can have multiple windows, running each window on a seperate flashPlayer instance, and when a window is closed, it blows-away that flashPlayer instance / stage / etc.

Feb 18, 2011I have a timer in my application. For every 30 min, it will hit the web services and fetch the data and updates the UI. The application was working fine till yesterday. Suddenly, because of some issue, the web services were not available for some time. During that period, Application displayed the RPC Error multiple times(More than 100 alert boxes) in alert window. Because of this alert boxes, my application was hanged and i was not able to do anything.
I have tried several approaches, but nothing worked.Finally, I have tried to use a flag. In all the approaches, this looked promising. so i have implemented it.Basically, in this approach whenever we open an alert we will set a flag.While opening and closing alert we will reset this flag.

Jul 8, 2009I have the following problem, I have a flex application that works as a frontend in a client-server-application. In my application I have two sliders and a chart that moves when I drag the sliders, now when I have the following positions
slider 1: 10
slider 2: 20
a request is sent to the server and the response back to my flash. When I now change the sliders to
slider 1: 10
slider 2: 30
another request is sent to the server, because we have changed the position of slider 2. When I now turn the sliders again to the first position.
slider 1: 10
slider 2: 20
no request is sent to the server and the chart is moved correctly because the flash seems to know what he will receive, I think the application has cached the result. This effect only works when I open the flash application in the flash player. When I open it in the browser every slider position leeds to another request to the server. Is there a way to enable the caching also when I open it in the browser?

I want the user to be able to print or save the image. I can use the following code to print the image but flex does not provide good control over printing across multiple pages

I would like to display the image in a browser window so that the user could print it using the built in browser functionality or right click on the image and save it. Can this be done without requesting server side code to do it?

Sep 13, 2011I just got my MacBook and am trying out the Flash BUilder on said platform. I've installed Firefox and Google Chrome on my MacBook but I can't seem to find a way to set which browser would launch my Flex apps whenever I hit the Run button inside Flash Builder. As far as I know, I can locate the Browser property on the Project Properties on my Windows copy of Flash Builder but I couldn't over here at my Mac. Any thoughts?

On firefox, it openes in a new tab, (I have it set so windows open in new tabs), on IE it opens in a new window, and in chrome it opens in a new tab. Please help me fix this problem,

Feb 23, 2011I'm running ant to compile a Flex application, and the build keeps failing when running it on a windows command line. Other people in my team can successfully run the very same build under mac and linux. This is the error shown in the command prompt:

All tokens are set in corresponding build.properties and filter .properties files (and, as I said before, it compiles perfectly under mac and linux). The windows version is 7 Ultimate, FLEX_HOME is set as an environment variable to the Flex SDK 3.5 (the 3.5.0.12683 build that comes with Adobe Flash Builder Burrito). ${compiler.fork} is set to false, to avoid an issue with the SDK and the source files being in different logic drives.
