I use this arrayCollection to populate a Flex 3 Datagrid. I'd also like to use this arrayCollection to populate a comboBox with the Name node.
In the arrayCollection, I've got the Name listed twice. I've got two rows in the Datagrid.
If I set the ComboBox's labelfield to Name, then the Name will be listed twice in the ComboBox menu. Is there a way to use this arrayCollection and have each Name listed only once in the comboBox?
I can always make another loop and array collection for the Name, but I was wondering if there were a better way.

I have a data grid with an Combobox itemRenderer in it. What I have is a grid with a person id and person name (more stuff in grid but I am struggling with this). In the person name column I have an combobox with all the people on then system's names and id's. What I want to do is when I select a person in the combobox I want the combobox to populate the person name fields (which it does) but I also want to pull out the person id from the combobox and populate the person id column in the data grid as well.

The array is displayed fine in the alert box, but somewhere between my split and creating new collection something is wrong.

I'm trying to setup a DataGrid that contains a column of combo boxes. The values of the combo boxes are defined by data specific to that row. I cannot get this to work though, I'm asking for a solution to this, either fixing what I have below or a recommendation on a different way.One of the columns of my DataGrid has an object derived from a ComboBox for an ItemEditor. If I have a ComboBox component on stage and it has 11 options in it, is it possible to populate a dynamic text field with text based on which one of the 11 options are selected?ComboBox has instance name of 'age' and has 11 options to choose from (Opt1, Opt2, Opt3, Opt4, Opt5, etc.).There are also 11 dynamic text fields (instance and variable names of c1, c2, c3, etc.). I want the text fields to be blank unless the corresponding option is chosen. I trying to populate a combobox from a .php file and return the values of the selection. I have the .php set up to where it outputs something like
&artists=anartist,anartist2,anartist3, etc..they have names..
I already have the combobox set up to where it displays

after you click the dropdown arrow..How would I get it to return a the numerical value for the artist (ex: anartist would be "0" since it is first in the list) and put it into a variable so that when it is selected it could be placed into an eval() function to create a variable such as "albumcover0" to be loaded through a function. I have been reading tutorials for hours to no avail. I want a single function to produce the number from the selected artist and place it into a variable, then go through all of the loadImage(for the "album image") etc functions..they will be functions that I have made already previously and call all of them with the number in the called fuctions (ex: loadImage(0)) where "0" is the number derived from the variable out of the combo box. Ive tried tons of tutorials, I think that it has something to do with me using flash mx 2004, and as2 turned on.
What I have atm is a combobox with types of products in it. How do I populate a new combobox using the product names from an external xml file? I've already loaded the xml file so I don't need that code. What I want is for the names of the products in the label and the child number in the data field (product.type.name[n] - I want n in the data field).

The issue I'm running into is that both getFooTypes and getFooCountForType are asynchronous calls to a web service. I understand how to populate fooTypes by setting a Responder and using ResultEvent, but how can I call another service using the result?

View 5 RepliesI've actaully got all of this working.All I need now is to make the comboBox text HTMLtext so that I can use the HTML tags to color the text different colors or bold them.It might be important to mention that I need to change only some of the things listed, not the entire list. So if my list on the comboBox is "item 1", "item 2", "item 3", "item 4", I only want "item 1" in bold and colored red.
View 1 RepliesI am trying to populate a ComboBox from a ColdFusion component. The cfc is simply querying a db to get a list of products.
However, the code I am placing in the Actions panel:

doesn't appear to be working correctly. The only result I see is a blank box that when I hit the arrow, the first item in the query is returned. From what I have read, I thought that the code above would be all I need. So I'm not sure why:
1. The first item is not automatically selected
2. The rest of the list is not there.
I'm currently working on a project where I have a user defined list of urls which is saved in a local SO. When the movie is loaded the ComboBox is populated with the values from the SO (Stored as array inside SO).I want to give users the option to remove items from this list. So far I have managed to remove the selected item from the combo box, clear out the SO and loop the remaining ComboBox items, but, when I try and load these item into an array to parse back to the SO, the array is created and creates the correct amount of elements, but, each element is populated with only the data from the 0 index item of the ComboBox.My code so far: (This sits inside a button component and is invoked onClick)

Our flex project, which works fine in its current environment with coldfusion 7 single server. We moved this project to Coldfusion 8 multi server, and updated the remoteobject paths relative to the web root.
The error we now receive is

The path to the cfc's from the webroot is is myProject/cf/main.cfc ...
Since Flashbuilder does not support WCF over https, I am considering to use weborb remoting as alternative, but not really sure how flash is going to know weborb location, if they are sitting on different servers. Looked at destination, source fields, but not really find a field called url in remoteObject in Flex.
View 1 RepliesI have a need to validate a field against our database to verify unique-ness. The problem I seem to be having is that the validators doValidation() exits before we've heard back from database.
How can I have the validator wait to return its payload until after we've heard from the DB?
Or perhaps a better question might be (since I think the first question is impossible), how can I set this up differently, so that I don't need to wait, or so that the wait doesn't cause the validation to automaticallly return valid?
In my Flex app, I use one remote object and multiple destinations. Is that a bad idea? It seems to be working just fine except for the one or two fringe cases:It's bad design, but we use the same method name on two different destinations and they seem to conflict when they're called at the same time. Logging errors show a method assigned to one destination as being associated with another.
View 1 RepliesI'm building an application using Flex 4 + Spring Blazeds Integration 1.5 + Spring 3.0.5 + Hibernate running on jboss-5.1.0.GA. I create a simple login form, and when a submit a string via remote object it works fine. But when a try to use an Object its simple doesn't work. Funny is that it even don't shows the Alert that a put! Also, if I remove the tag "RemoteClass" it sends to java but an error occur. Bellow is the code and configs.

I'm on Flash Builder 4.5 and I'm using remote object with amfphp and when I call two method (method1 and method2) at the same time the response of method2 always arrives after method1's response even though method2 is much more faster to return the result.re's the scenario:I set a remote object which refers to a remote php class "Newletter" which contains the sendNewsletter and getProgress methods.Here's the code:-sendNewsletter() reads the email archive and send the newsletter. After each email has sent it writes a log into the database.-getProgress() reads the log wrote by sendNewsletter, counts how many email have been sent, compares it with the total number of the email that have to be sent and return the progress percentageFrom the flex interface the users select a Newsletter to be sent and click on a "send" button which calls a function that calls the sendNewsletter() and then instantiate a loop of calls to getProgress (as you can see when getProgress returns something it calls the setProgress which updates a progress bar and calls getProgress again until the progress percentage reach 100%.
So right after I call sendNewsletter() I call getProgress() on the same remoteClass().sendNewsletter() can take several minutes to complete (in my tests for sending 4 email it takes about 4 seconds so I think that sending thousands of email will take much more!!) and the trouble I'm encountering here is that getProgress() result arrives only after sendNewsletter() concludes its execution while what I would like to achieve is:
I have implemented the login capability to my application using Flex(Blazeds)channelset login. But there is a strange problem, after about 2 minutes of inactivity if I try to perform any operation I see that my channelset has been been forcefully logged out Is there some configuration which I need to do in order to prevent this from happening. I tried adding this in my web.xml, so that the session persists but it didnt help my cause.
