I am using Flex Spark Slider as a time-line for a Flex video player custom component I have created.
I want to prevent the user from clicking on the slider and changing its value, but at the same time I should be able to change the value of the slider programmatically.
Setting the "enabled" property for the slider to "false" doesn't help as then I am not able to change the slider value programmatically.
I have a custom component, containing a List displaying items from an XMLListCollection:

Also if I click twice, only 1 mouse click will cause my custom event to be dispatched (because obviously there is no change between the items). how to make my List only react to mouse clicks? UPDATE: Yes, I've tried using "change" event for the List before, but then I have the problem that it is fired, even if the List scrollbar is clicked.
I am using a flash swf from the website[url]...where it allows me to upload images via an xml file to the flash movie. However the flash movie is changing the mouse cursor to hand-cursor when passing the mouse on it, and also it is allowing users to click on the movie, while I wanted to leave the mouse cursor to remain as an arrow, and prevent users from clicking on it, I tried the following code, whereby I used another flash movie to call the dewslider swf, but in IE it is not working, although in firefox it is ok..[code]...

Where the user has to click on a specific part of the screen to play the next video. I'm using Flash cs3 to do this and again i'm new to this so i don't know how to navigate very well. View 3 RepliesI'm trying to prevent a default chart item roll over highlight in a Spark column chart.If you look at any of the chart examples on this page , when you roll over any of the chart series items, they turn a darkened shade of their original colour. This is what I want to prevent.
So far I have had no luck with using the itemRollOverColor property, as this only allows you to set it to one specific colour for the whole chart (my app has several different coloured series on the chart at once). Also, trying to leverage the itemRollOver event (with preventDefault() etc) hasn't worked either.
I would like to have a spark datagrid that wordwraps all rows where relevant. At the moment it appears like the width of a cell is dependent on the contents of the first row and then subsequent rows are word wrapped. For example:

How can I get the datagrid to dynamically resize to 100% of the container width and for wordwrapping to happen on all rows? (not just rows after row 1)
I'm using a spark combobox in my AdvancedDataGrid, as an itemEditor. At some point I noticed that clicking on the scroll bar arrows would close the CB - very annoying. After much research I found this on Stackoverflow which completely solved my problems - One more and last lingering issue left though: when selecting an item from an open dropdownlist the mouse click seems to propagate to the cell below once the dropdown has closed. I assumed that the fix above would take care of this last issue, but it doesn't seem to. I tried to override the item_mouseDownHandler for the CB and stopImmediatePropagation() of the mouse event post its usual behavior, but that also seems to have no effect. I also tried setting the mouseChildren property for the skin['dropDown'] to false, but that impairs the whole functionality.

I am having an issue with my ItemRenderer, which I am using for a spark List. My code is the following:

The thing is, if I scroll the list, and click on an item, it does not trace 'arthur' ! Why is this so ? I must trace that all the time that someone clicks in the list!
EDIT: If I remove change="model.selectSet( productSetList )" in the list, it works!! but I cannot remove that, some suggestions ? How can I switch that to another function?
I've been reading a lot about the benefits of Object Pooling. Found some "tutorials" online, all above my skill level. Can anyone please show me an extremely simple example of an Object Pool. What my game does is creates Ball objects when the user holds down the mouse, stops when user lifts up mouse. I need to store these Ball objects in an array(or Vector), and hit test them with other objects, removing them from the stage when the hit another object. I'd like to create a pool of say 20 of so, created once, and recycle them.

Similarly, If the mouse hovers over the bottom (red) part, the List scrolls upwards, and the lower the mouse is hovered, the faster the list would scroll. I have a component extending a Spark List, and when I scroll using the mouse wheel it scrolls too much in one go. I have tried looking for the handler that deals with mouse wheel scrolling in the List class and VerticalLayout class to override but I cannot find it.

I need my Application to be scrollable in a web browser, so I've add a Scroller containing all my components. When the browser window is too small to contain all my application, scrollBar appears.

When I scroll with my mouse cursor outside of the List, everythink works fine. When I scroll with my mouse cursor over the List, nothing happends.
It looks like the mousewheel event is stopped by the List, even if the List does not have a scrollbar.
I'm using the slider component to control the volume of an MP3 but also need to use the arrow keys to move a character. When you place focus on the slider component, the arrow keys move the slider rather than the character. How can I disable keyboard control of the slider altogether? Is there a way to do it temporarily.

The main problem is that every type of sweeping on the screen also fires the taphandler().. how to identify the correct event? I tried to to my taphandler only if(!event.buttondown) but no success.
The slider thumbs in my Flex 3 application usually work correctly, but often they seem to become insensitive to mouse downs on what should be thumbPress events. It turns out that mouseOut events are being fired as the mouse moves away from the edge of the thumb towards the center. The thumb is sensitive to mouseDown events only when it is in the "over" state.
I am seeing the same behavior: Displaying the default thumb rather than my custom class Using a hitArea sprite (I tried a child TextInput sized to cover the thumb with alpha 0). Can anyone suggest either a fix or a workaround? I can identify the faulty mouse out events, but then don't know how to compensate, for example, by reestablishing the "over" state, or perhaps with programmatic control of the mouse.

I was successfully able to do it when they click backspace or delete and then started typing any alphabets. BUT no luck when they highlight the entire textfield and typed the number. The "$" will get deleted, which I don't want that.

If I scroll by clicking with the mouse on the scroll bar and trying to scroll with the mouse wheel after that, there is a problem: The interval of the scrolling is oversized, instead of scrolling one item down (or up) the List scrolls 4 items down (or up).

My Flex application is heavily keyboard-oriented. It uses 100% of the browser window and I'd like the user to be able to start using it immediately - as soon as it loads. However, it seems that the application is only first "activated" (i.e. the activate event fires) when the mouse clicks somewhere inside it, which is very inconvenient for my keyboard-heavy app.
Can I force an activation of my app at some point during/after it loads? I hope I don't have to display some silly "click inside to activate" overlay every time the page loads..
In certain browsers ([cough] Chrome [/cough]) the focus is lost whenever the user switches away from the browser (or even touches the address bar) and is not regained when switching back. So the solution has to take in consideration not just the first focus when the page loads but also "re-focusing".
I've installed Flash Media Server and send stream to it use Flash Media Live Encoder via [URL]. And on my website, I've embed code to play this live stream via [URL]. All ok!
But, any user can install Flash Media Live Encoder and connect to my FMS, publish his/her stream (because url to publish and view is same) My question is: how to prevent end-user publish stream to my FMS, only allow end-user view my live stream?
I'm using Flash HSlider component. I used a slider with several thumbs. I'd like to prevent the user from draging just the middle thumb, but can drag other thumbs. I don't know how to do it.

This is a portion of what I have, and I am not sure if the logic is correct:[code]I have looked at similar examples on this site but still have not reach any solution. I am hoping that someone who knows FLEX can help me to basically launch a function via a series of Keyboard shortcut. For example: Alt + mouse click, or Shift + mouseclick, or something along those lines. The reason is that a simple mouse click already does something else on the screen.
