Consider there are two text field objects:
TextField1="texta";
TextField2="textb";
Output: texta textb Now I want to select from "ta" in TextField1 to "tex" in TextField2. By the drag of a mouse. I know that by conventional methods it is not possible? Is there any other way to achieve this? And I need to highlight the text also.
For example, say I have 3 RichEditableText objects and I want to be able to highlight them all together:

Is it even possible to make it so all three could be highlighted that way someone could Copy all three at once then past all the text somewhere? I should clarify, The reason they would be like this is because there they are in an itemRenderer so they would each be their own object in each line on the list. It would be nice though if the text could be highlighted and copied like it was all together though. Just imagine the way an end user would expect to be able to drag an highlight any other text in a standard html document to paste elsewhere.

I need the ability to click the Bold button and it bolds or unbolds at the cursor so if I hit the bold button what I type from that point on will be bold until I hit the button again and then it goes back to regular. I am able to change it to bold or unbold by selecting the text and clicking the button but I also need to do it without selecting.

I would like my spark ItemRenderer to be able to render a varying number of graphical objects that depends on the user input. As an example, let's say that I want to render a set of ellipses on a line.I've been using MXML for my most recent batch of ItemRenderers and have loved every minute of it, but I'm not sure how to accomplish the above goal with an MXML IR. In Actionscript I can acquire the list of ellipses locations and draw them programmatically in the updateDisplayList method. Is there an equivalent in MXML?

The input text is an input textfield and the output a dynamic textfield.I have been looking into TextSnapshot but this only seems to apply to static text. Using the htmlText property I could input a string with html tags but that's gonna be complicated I guess. Is there any way of achieving this using TextField.setTextFormat() ?
Is it possible to set focus on a text input component that contains text without selecting the text? I want to be able to focus on the component and have the cursor flashing after the last letter in the field.I am currently using:myTi.setFocus();That correctly focuses myTi but it also selects all of the text currently in the field. Basically it does it with mouseWheel to, but I've set that on off, so it's ok.
But is it possible to disable it when selecting, too?
The text comes from an XML file, and I suppose that scroll happens because of white space on the XML. I tried disabling white space using AS3 but it doesn't seem to work.
I made an AIR app and enabled it so the user can move it around the desktop where they want. One problem is on a page of textfields, if the user tries to select text (click, drag cursor to select the text) the app drags instead.
Any easy solutions other than having to set up listeners for every textfield and "interrupting" dragging?? (AIR 2.7)

I have a flex mobile application that I am working on that I am having issues with selecting an image from roll/taking a picture. My application is not tabbed, however one part of it contains a Tabbed View Navigator with tabs across the bottom. Within one of those tabs, I have the ability to upload an image to a webservice that I have created. However, when I select an image or take the picture, it pops back out to the initial splash screen and the application restarts. If I use the component standalone (outside of the tabbed view navigator) it selects the image and uploads without any problem.

I've created an Flex app. It currently has an drop down menu. With the option to select a Channel. Once the channel is selected the data pulls through. But, what I want to do is just pull through one channel of data as opposed to multiple items of data. How can I achieve this?

I've followed the Flex in a week example, with the drop down menu that pairs the XML data to the XML node set.For the project I am creating, I am just pulling through ONE XML file containing just one node into my application.I am using HTTPService and pulling the data through, but at present the only way for this to work is by using the <s:DropDownList>[code]

im creating a small drag and drop game in AS3-
I have 4 objects and 4 targets,
I want to be able to drag any of the 4 objects onto any of the targets, right now all I can manage is to allow each object drop onto one specific target only.
I thought by calling all my target names by the same instance name eg target_mc that would work but only one target will ever work.
I have a datagrid with 5 columns. The first column has checkboxs and rest four columns have data from the dataProvider.
I have two relating issues: First: I want the row to get selected when I click on a checkbox, or if i click on multiple checkboxes, every row should stay selected in the datagrid for whose checkbox is selected.
Second: If a row or multiple rows are selected, the corresponding checkbox should get selected too.

I have posted two problems with a custom itemRenderer see this post. My primary Problem is, that it always selects a wrong line (one under the one I select). I now realized that this happens, when I save back the content of the itemRenderer to the dataProvider. If I code this part out, the dataGrid works as expected...
View 2 RepliesI'm having a problem displaying data from a function to text box within a tab. If you run the code and click "Select Tab 2 and Fill..." I get an error; "TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference." I'm guessing this is because "Tab 2" is/was not rendered yet. Now if I run the code, select "Tab 2" then select "Tab 1" and click "Select Tab 2 and Fill..." it works the way I would like. Dose any one know a way around this problem.

The over and out events are identical for each (tween expands object and then shrinks it back for the out state).I have previously asked for an easy way to declare those events, and now I was looking for an easier way to handle them.

I have download the theme that all contains different CSS file. I need to dynamically declare the CSS for the application to apply that theme. I have file name Theme1.css, Theme2.css, Theme3.css, Theme4.css, Theme5.css.
when I click on the Theme 1 Button then I need to apply Theme1.css file as source of style. similar like that when I click on the Theme 2 Button then I need to apply Theme2.css file as source of style. Note : css file contains Style for both application and component of the Application.

The download function operates upon the currently selected row and is called when one of the download buttons is clicked. Therefore, I am wondering if anybody knows of a way to select the row the itemrenderer button is contained within as the active row when one of the download buttons is clicked.
I have an array of items that should be selected in my tree control. As you can see from my code below, I bind this array to the selectedIndices property of the tree. The selected Items are not properly selecting in tree(selecting some other items and always root is selected).Flex seems to "ignore" my items (selects some other indices).
