I am using Flash Builder 4 to develop this as a mxml application, but found that it doesn't allow access to local filesystem. ActionScript 3.0 :: URLRequestHeader Standalone Application

Jun 8, 2010

I am having an issue trying to set http headers when trying to access a web service.

I have read that I need a crossdomain.xml on the server, but is this only when the application is running in a browser - i.e. hosted somewhere.

My scenarion is that I am developing an app to run as a stand alone application (not in the browser) for a 3rd party device.  This device does not support the flex mx packages.

The app calls a webservice and displays data.  The webservice requires to be authenticated.

In JS i can use an XMLHTTPRequest and load the url using "https://username:password@server.com/service.asmxpassword@server.com/service.asmx" - attempting to do this in AS 3 using a URLRequest and URLLoader I get "#2044: Unhandled ioError:. text=Error #2032: Stream Error".

So I try to add a HTTP header instead, but this appears to be ignored - the credentials of the user who is currently logged into the network (idsid) is used instead.

Do i need a crossdomain.xml file on the server hosting the webservice even though my flash application will never be hosted.  The server admin is not happy allowing all domains ("*") since I dont knwo what domain I am in as my flash app is not hosted.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appriciated.  or perhaps there is an alternative way of doing this?

<code>
var urlRequest:URLRequest = new URLRequest("https://server/service.asmx");
urlRequest.method = URLRequestMethod.POST;
urlRequest.contentType = "text/xml";

urlRequest.requestHeaders.push(new URLRequestHeader("Content-type", "text/xml"));
urlRequest.requestHeaders.push(new URLRequestHeader("Authorization", "Basic " + escape(usr) + ":" + escape(pwd)));
urlRequest.data = getSoapData();

var urlLoaderService:URLLoader = new URLLoader();
urlLoaderService.dataFormat = URLLoaderDataFormat.TEXT;
urlLoaderService.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onServiceLoaded);.....

Professional :: Flash Player 10.2.159.1 Standalone Application CRASH With High Graphical Processing

Apr 16, 2011

Flash Player  10.2.153.1and  Flash Player  10.2.159.1 are crashing my standalone application. Later with  version 10.1 the application run ok, never crashes but was taking more than  90% CPU. The  new Flash Player solve the problem of resources, and drop down CPU to  30%, but  the application crashes always after a while, unespectly, or if I open the window of other application.

In  the other hand when I disable the harware acceleration at the swf  settings, the application goes crazy and start to make rapid flashes, and frame rate goes down to 8. [URL]. Right click on the Flash logo, Settings,then UNcheck the hardware acceleration in Display Settings.)

I'm  on a Mac Mini Core 2 Duo with Mac OS X 10.6.7 (the last Snow Leopard  these days). The graphical card is Nvidia GeForce 9400M.

I  did test the application at a Mac Book Pro core i5, Mac OS X 10.6.7,   graphica card Nvidia GeForce GT 330M and the application is more  stable but finally crashes too.

Finally if I export my application  with GPU Hardware acceleration at Publish Settings, my application  crashes almost inmediatly after I open it in each of the computers.

My guess is that the new Flash Version is using my graphical proccesor in a corrupted way.

Flex :: Create Multi-window Web Application?

Oct 20, 2010

I am using flex4, I am seeking the answer to create multi window web application. My application is some sort of complex, currently I only know using PopupManager to create a new window.Should I create each MXML for each window that I want to instantiate? And then load the mxml and put it into the stage? Is there any tutorial describing that? I want the program modular and easy to manager, extend.

The current way I am using is use Group to group up all the controls inside a window, and if user want to open that window, I will display the group and bring it to the front. Is it the right way to do windowing? But I can't support drag.

I want to know if there is any native support for draggable window, or dialog?

Also till now all the controls are put inside a single mxml file, is it possible to put one window(or one group) to be a separate mxml file?

I have an AIR application. It should be moved around the screen with the mouse. In order to achieve this I use the event: this.stage.addEventListener(MouseEvent.MOUSE_DOWN, onMouseDown, true,-2);

It should be activated with the lowest priority compared to inserted elements for example those that should be scrolled, clicked, etc. I tried the solution shown below with the event priority set to -1 because there might happen 2 different events and my moving application event should be the last one to be serviced or shouldn't be serviced at all.

No errors occur during the build process and an AIR file is created.The problem is that when I install the AIR application and run it, there is no UI at all. The process is running because I can see it in Task Manager but I can't see the app window. I've commented out all of my initial code so just the first window should appear but still nothing.

Css :: Dynamic Font Size Flex 4 To Resize When Window/panel Is Resized

Feb 11, 2011

I have a Flex custom BorderContainer component which has text inside of it. If I were to add this in my main Application inside of a panel, the BorderContainer goes outside of the width bounds of the panel due to the text being a set size. I have all of its components in percentages so that it re-sizes when shrunk, but the one part that contains checkboxes and labels (lots of things with text) mess up since the font size doesn't change.

I am pretty positive that the results I am looking for can be done through embedding the font, though I have not been able to come up with a solution from online. I am trying to do this with a CSS style since I will be using it for many different components (I dont just want to change it in the flex code directly).

EDIT Solution:

I attempted to use the ratio as www0z0k had suggested but it caused some serious issues when it was re-sized quickly or to a small screen (the component would not re-size correctly because it was multiplying by the ratio. What finally seems to have worked for me and caused no issues was that I ran the code and found the width (1152) and height (842) of the container.

I then created a const variable of widthX = 1152 and heightY = 842 and in the onResize() function I coded the resize like this:
(where bottomGroup is the id of the borderContainer I am trying to resize)

bottomGroup.scaleX = width / widthX;;
bottomGroup.scaleY = height / heightY;

END EDIT

So far I have found some examples of embedding fonts in the <fx:Style> and attempted to remove any delaration of fontSize but that doesn't seem to work.

<fx:Style>
@namespace s "library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark";
@font-face {

Flex :: Sending POST Variables To A Browser Window From AIR Application

EDIT : I need the window to be visible, this is why I absolutely need to use the navigateToUrl() function

I already know that I CAN'T DO something like this, that the AIR application will send the variables using the GET method...

var vars:URLVariables = new URLVariables();
vars.myVar = "Hello my friend";
var req:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://example.com/my-page.php");
req.method = "POST":

Flex Web Application - Prevent Framerate Drop When Window Is Invisible?

Nov 20, 2011

So there's been a new "feature" in the flash player since version 10.1, which reduces the player's framerate to 2 fps when the application window is out of view. This is good news for performance, but it can break some functionality, such as the Timer class.

I have an application which uses a Timer to display a countdown. Given the nature of the application, it is required for the Timer to complete its countdown even if the user is not there to see it. Imagine that you need to give the user only 10 seconds to perform a task. If the user minimizes the window halfway through the counter, they can take as much time as they want and still have 5 seconds left when they return to the window. This apparently can not be avoided with the newer flash players.

In Air applications there is the backgroundFrameRate property which can be set to prevent this behavior, but this is part of the WindowedApplication class, so it seems that it is not available in a web application. Does anyone know a way to keep a constant frame rate even when the window is not visible?

Flex :: Open A Browser Window To View An Image Created By An Application?

Aug 26, 2009

I have a flex 3 application that creates an Image from a canvas which the user draws on. I use the ImageSnapshot class to create the image

var imageSnap:ImageSnapshot=ImageSnapshot.captureImage(myCanvas);
var imageByteArray:ByteArray=imageSnap.data as ByteArray;

I want the user to be able to print or save the image. I can use the following code to print the image but flex does not provide good control over printing across multiple pages

var printJob:FlexPrintJob=new FlexPrintJob();
printJob.start();
printJob.addObject(myCanvas, FlexPrintJobScaleType.SHOW_ALL);

I would like to display the image in a browser window so that the user could print it using the built in browser functionality or right click on the image and save it. Can this be done without requesting server side code to do it?

Actionscript 3 :: Set An Application Size According To The Screen Size (for Mobile Devices)?

Oct 19, 2011

I am developing an AS3 application (not a Flex one) using Flash Builder 4.5. My application can set its graphical components automatically according to stageWidth/stageHeight. My problem is with the actual application size. If I do not specify width/height in the SWF meta tag, my application is compiled according to the default (550x400?). If I do specify (for example 800x480), I won't be able to support other resolutions correctly.

Is there a way to tell the compiler to see the application size according to the device's/stage's sizes?
