Flex :: Splitting Text By Newline Character "" In Adobe AIR?

I am creating a AIR application in flex. I have a textArea having a string something likAAA BBB CCC DDDQQQ WWW EEE SSSKKPPP SSSL AAASI want this to save this into .txt file. I am using - file.save(output.text,"testFile.txt");But its is saving everything in 1 line. When I open the file using notepad everything is coming as Single line.Does flex provide any functionality using which I can save the contents of multiline Text Area into .txt file?The output string has got the '' but notepad is not able to recognize it. Is it a Flex issue or Windows notepad issue? If it is notepad issue then is there any way to work around this from Flex file io?

I have encountered strange problem. I have created simple Flash text field control and I wanted to compare its content with some other string. This comparison in triggered when user is pressing the button.In Action Script 2.0 code I noticed that a caret return character () was added at the end of the string coming from the input text field.It is easy to overcome the problem obviously, however I would like to understand what is going on. I use Flash CS4 with AS 2.0.

In my application I'm using a custom embedded font for English (Helvetica New) which does not contain characters (glyphs) for chinese unicode range. In the application, wherver chinese characters are avaiable they are not displayed (suppressed) since they are missing in the custom embedded font. How can I make the flash player to use a fallback system font for the missing characters? And the fallback should be for the missing characters alone. For the Engligh characters it should use the embedded font.

In the script, sometimes a newline is added in the beginning of the text field (am using a textArea in adobe flex 3), and later on that newline might need to be removed. I was wondering how to check if there is a newline at the beginning of the text field and then how to remove it.

I enter a set of 4 values in one text box and i display it in a splitted way in 4 other small text boxes using this code:
array.push(Number(t1.text));
array.push(Number(t2.text));
array.push(Number(t3.text));[code]........
But now I need to know how to do the same thing for any dynamic value that is entered.Say I have a text box tt1 and a button b1. When I enter any value (say 6) this number of text boxes are created (6 new text boxes with names t0,t1....t5)I have another text box tt2 and a button b2. When i enter a set of values in it (say 10,66,33,45,2,4) I need these values to get displayed in those text boxes t0,t1,t2..

I'm working on an RPG engine where all the dialogue is stored in an XML file. Ideally like to be able to pass the engine a large paragraph of dialogue text and display it bit by bit inside a fixed-width text field without splitting any words.So for example, if I were to pass the following chunk of text:"Good countrymen, let me depart alone, And, for my sake, stay here with Antony. how do you change the text inside of a text control when a user has clicked a button. I could not find a way to do this. I used an event handler to input a .xml to a string and then to the text control. This doesn't seem to work.

I do a lot of work with GWT but don't have experience of Flex. I was talking to a guy today who was looking at moving some large Flex based applications to GWT due to the Flex application getting too big and using too much memory in the browser. This is a problem I have had before with GWT - browser apps using lots of memory as all the code gets loaded when it starts.
However, in GWT 2.0 there is now a code splitting feature to overcome the problem of the client code getting too big. This allows all the code (javascript) not to be loaded as one big file on start up but instead code split into different files that can be loaded when required.
I was thinking as to if there is anything similar in Flex. I assume the Flex application code all lives in one single SWF file which loads at start-up so this approach is not possible but thought there might be other solutions.

I'm using an auto complete component and a labelFunction so that user have the ability to search by their name or id. Once the search is completed I'd like to extract the data to a query.
The only problem is that I only need the name or id for the query not both, so I'd like to pull from just the id variable...
Currently if the user types - Joe or if they type - 13
Both would return a result of Joe - 13 via the auto complete component.
I'm using a dash - To separate the results visually. So I'd like to know if theres a way to extract text from a text field up to a certain character in this case a dash.

I need to replace multiple contiguous new line/line feed characters in flex with a single new line character.
Example:
The string
"My name is blah blah
My name is blah
"
Should be converted to
"My name is blah blah
My name is blah
"
Hope the example makes it easier to understand.
I am using a component to render it.
I guess using regex would be the easiest way to do this, but still it would be great if people can point me out to references/examples to get this done with ease.
I am using flex 4.5.

It seems that AIR doesn't come packaged with the powerful FTS module for Sqlite (its a hot requested feature)
What are the some other alternatives I can use? I want to be able to do simple boolean and phrase queries. Support for stemming would be great but not required. I am targeting the mobile platforms.
So far I've thought of three options:
Write a simple inverted index and a scorer Do search on server side (last resort b/c it messes up offline capability) Somehow install FTS module with AIR. First indication from googling is that its not feasible (looks like loading of modules is disabled in air)

I'm using the VideoPlayer component in flex 4 to display a clip. I have about 3 or 4 notes that I want to appear at specific points of the video, sort of like caption but not quite. I'm trying to figure out how to use VideoPlayer time to cause another element to appear (text area with the note in it), but can't seem to get it.

I have an application which displays employee information. If the user opening the detailed employee information page is not authorized to make changes I set the TextInput to disabled. Some users are reporting rendering issues with this. The TextInput's text value does not appear inside the box but is misaligned and is outside of the component. You can see the screenshow below of the disabled ID column where the numbers which are supposed to be in the TextInput box are far off to the right.

I have an experimental flex source file(lex.l):

Since there is no newline character in the input file, why the " in lex.l is pattern matched? (The "lines" is supposed to be 0, and the "chars" is supposed to be 9)(I am using OS X.)

The last QUOTE is rendered in a line BELOW "WE AIM TO...". It's rendered like this :
WE AIM TO CARRY ON WITH THE INNOVATION
The ONLY way to render the quote in the same line with "WE AIM..." is to :
a) Either put it INSIDE <fu>
b) Or remove <fu> altogether.
Is this a Flash bug? Am I doing something wrong with css or html?
