How to tween/add effects for the action of tree expanding/collapsing in an AdvancedDataGrid in flex.
I googled a bit, searched the livedocs, but there doesn't seem to be a concrete example for the same.
I have added an event handler for itemOpening event for the tree component inside the handler basically ido myTree.selectedItem = event.item ; and then add the new data inside myTree.selectedItem.children.push(newData); But It do not show simultaneously instead I have to close , open the branch again to see the new data. I think I need to refresh something after adding new data but dont know what? below is the code but without the declaration , script tag etc

What I'm trying to do is have a 3 state tree expansion. I have three different icons for "expand" "collapse" "semi-expanded" which I want to use to show a partially populated tree control with all nodes initialized to semi-expanded state and then on clicking the "semi-expanded" icon it gets data from server and populates the tree and open that branch with "expanded" icon.
I tried looking for it but couldn't find anything close to it except the 3-state checkbox but don't know how to use it on 3 state icon when tree would only maintain 2 states.
I have a partially populated Tree component and I have to invoke a remote service when User expand (not when he select) a node to retrieve it's leafs. How I know witch node have bee selected.
I'm using Flex 3.3.
The tree should have a minimum row count of 4 and a maximum of 10 (beyond which it should display the scroll bars). So, I have a tree with rowCount="4" and I want rowCount to change up to "10" depending on the currently expanded nodes. In debug I can see two of the tree's properties which I could use[code]...
But these are not accessible from outside so I can't find a way to understand if the tree is expanded or not.
I am looking for the function or event, which is called when tree node is expanded/colapsed inside Tree object in Flex 4.5.

View 2 RepliesI have an AdvancedDataGrid tree with a ArrayCollection as its dataprovider. Now, for instance, i drag a leaf from one node to another node. To catch the event I'm adding a Listener to dragComplete.

My Problem: I want to know the new node where the leaf was dropped. Actually i would have expected that in the event there is a property like dropParent. This is not the case.

The problem with this is that while the show event plays perfectly, the item disappears from view before the hide effect has a chance to play. Is there a simple way to handle adding animations to this workflow?
I am working on a Flex AdvancedDataGrid with a flat ArrayCollection dataProvider. The requirement is that when the root nodes is closed, the root row should show a subtotal data and when the root nodes is opened, not show the subtotal data.

Using RecursiveDirectoryIterator of PHP i am able to create directory tree and can even flatten it using RecursiveIteratorIterator class , but I want to create directory tree structure which TREE component of flex understands . The following is an array structure in php which flex understands.

I'm trying to make a Flex Tree Component display the children of a sprite in a hierarchical way. Moreover, dragging the items on the FlexTree would resort and reparent the items. I have special Elements set as Folders. This would allow other elements to be added there as a children by dragging an element on the tree and dropping it there. I have a failed attempt which works, but breaks when I try to add folders. Basically, it fails at reparenting the items by dragging and resorting folders and that Does anyone know of a component or something which can do this, has anyone have created any of this or could anyone give me a clue?

I looked at the AdvancedDataGrid but the user does not want to have a tree-structure in any of the columns. Looking to see if there are any hints/tips for modifying the DataGrid or AdvancedDataGrid to produce an "HTML Table with rowspan" look.
View 1 RepliesI have implemented drag and drop between 2 AdvancedDataGrid, but the default behaviour from Flex displays the row data during the drag using the grid item renderer showing all 5 columns.
Instead, I would like to display an icon / image or my own custom item renderer during the drag and drop.
Is there any way to detect if AdvancedDataGrid itemClick event is actually caused by the user dragging? I'd like to take action on click, but ignore drag.

Anyway my idea below (in the nested if clause I want to check if the newly clicked item's processing data is already in the added Array Collection) is not working, but I assume there must be a better way to differiante if an click was made on a already selected row.

I would like to add new row on the fly (runtime) to my AdvancedDataGrid.I can add it to the data model, but couldn't find a way to make the table render and show the new row.What i am seeking for is to create an effect of expandable item, where clicking on row will show "additional information" (like a drawer) and clicking on row expand button will reveal it's children.I saw examples of this for dataGrid (http:url...), but not for AdavancedDataGrid.Only way I found to do this is to add a new child and use openItem, but this cause the other children to be visible as well.

I've got a subclass of AdvancedDataGrid showing a tree-like data structure. How can I, given the index returned by calculateDropIndex, get the item at that index? After reading through reams of code, it seems like the least terrible way is:

The other option seems to be tinkering around with the iterator property... But, judging by the way I've seen it used, that will get pretty harry pretty quickly too. So, how can I get the item at a particular index in an advanced datagrid without going insane?
Is it possible to use a renderer for for a treecolumn in an advanceddatagrid and still keep the hierarchal functionality? If I use a renderer provider I lose the the arrow for the tree dropdown. I want to keep the tree functionality and change the display of the column.(and not just the folder image)

I've a problem, I'm using an AdvancedDataGrid. It loads about 3000 records with about 20 columns. I constantly get Flex execution timeout because the grid executes a lot inside LayoutManager. How can I make it asyncronousely or faster at all?

how to query an ADG (or its rows) to figure out how many rows are currently visible (i.e. not collapsed) when displaying different levels of a hierarchical collection?In other words I'd like a function that tells me that 7 lines are visible in this view and 1 line is available in this one.

I'd like to sort dates according with the datetimes as well(just clicking in the header of the column), there is an examplen of the expected behaviour:
