I'm giving users the ability to upload an image to my Air app, then displaying this image in an image control. But I need to allow for PDF uploading in the same manner, so I need to convert the PDF to an image. I only care about the first page of the PDF they upload for now. What I'm doing is:
1) User browses for a file with the file reference control
2) User chooses the image or PDF to upload
3) I encode said image to base64 and store it
4) I then load from that base64 with something like:
I am building a flash widget for uploading files, but I want to display the thumbnail with html/js, once I have the file loaded via Browse into flash and have access to the raw data, is there a way to convert that to a base64 encoded dataURL so I can send that back out to JS to create a thumbnail like ?
I need to take a .swf Flash file, ideally from a URL (but I can read the file from disk also) and create an image preview of it (png, gif or jpeg is fine).I am using Adobe Coldfusion 8 so I'm looking for a Java solution. I need to get the first frame of the Flash movie only.
EDIT: I need to do this on the server in Java/CF at runtime - it's got to be automatic - I'm not looking for screen-grab software.
I am changing image through flex every time i change it saved into server directory with same name(which i am referring to show). So when i refresh my page my browser didn't send new request to server since it's already in request.so didn't getting new image.Tip:- when i clear browser history it will come with new image
The solution should be straight forward but I cannot find it, my problem it's that I'm reading a xml, and one of the properties inside the xml it's a Bitmap path(string), when I`m reading this xml I would like to convert this string to a Bitmap Obj so I can use through my MXMLs.

i've googled a bit, and found some information about flex sdk, and it's command-line tool for compiling .as to .swf (./bin/mxmlc), but any information about converting .fla to .swf in linux!
how to convert a file I have on my server (pdf/excel/ppt) to a ByteArray. The reason I want to do this is to display the dialogue open/save as to the user and I must set the Content-Type to octet-stream. The dialogue shows fine with just navigateToURL() but for pdf's it is the user's local browser setting. For a URLRequest I must set the data as a ByteArray. I'm trying to use the code located here:
I am new beginner, is it possible the covert flex data grid to CSV file format with out use any backend (java, php ..) file?. Because I tried with out use bankend. is it convert or not?

Any best way to upload the image file by using Flex 4 and PHP. I have searched online but most of them are using Flex 2 or older version. I am just curious if there are any new ways to do it. I just found a good one here... [URL]
I have created a booklet in InDesign cs4 that includes page turn transitions. I have saved it as a SWF file and it works perfectly on my PC with the ability to sweep through the page turns. My issue is now, what type of file can I export the SWF file to so that I can view it on an iPad and am still able to have the page curls?
I've written this piece of code to use a PHP script to send data to Flex.[code]...
If there is no way to use HttpService for this end (i.e. send image files), how can one do it then? I've seen it in an app I worked on so I'm positive it can be done.
I need the user of my Flex application to be able to save a snapshot of part of the UI to a local jpg file. I got the screenshot part down - can generate an image out of any given control. However, the only way I see to let the user save the image locally is to send to my server which would return it with the appropriate Content-Disposition.
I wrote these functions which I use in conjunction to scale down some BitmapData and save it as a PNG. However, the scaledImage.draw(originalImage, scalingMatrix, null, null, null, true); line with smoothing set to true does not have the intended smoothing effect when I save the bitmap data as a PNG using the second function. The resulting image file is not antialiased at all. Is there anything I'm doing wrong here?
public static function scaleImage(originalImage:BitmapData, size:int):BitmapData { // Calculate the scaled size.
I'm currently working on a chat with uploading an image and sharing it. The problem is I can upload and display the image but I can't share it to the other side. Here is some code:
My flex (flash builder 4) project references (embeds) a flex library project (ReusableFx). I have it working fine when it builds and runs, but I am struggling with a Design mode error "Design mode: Error during component layout...". In the flex library project there is a 'default.css' file which references a png file. Specifically like this:
[Code]...
It works when I build and run, I see the icon, but the problem is that design mode must work different in flash builder and breaks with this line. I tried a few things with no difference:
we use Flex Charts to generate reports and want to be able to have these reports emailed out on a scheduled basis. To do that, we need the SWF to run (as if in the browser) to fetch the report data and then have its contents converted to PDF or a static image. This needs to happen server side with no interaction from a user. Currently we solve this via an AIR app that can read the report file, but a static image or PDF would be much more desirable.
I wonder if this is possible using Flash or any of the other Adobe products.

Is it possible to convert the text above into an image? Generate dynamic images isn't problem but generating dynamic images which takes html tags into count is for me problematic. (the <br /> shouldn't be displayed instead it should generate a new line) So I was wondering if Flash had some ideas how it can be done...

I'm working on somewhat of a templated system where I've got a SWF file as a template and then people upload their own images and place them in the certain masked areas of the SWF to create like a scrapbook page.
My question is this, what would be the best way to convert those images to an image that people can save and thus print? Would I have to do this while their viewing the SWF or is there a way to generate an image with some sort of command line tool that I'd pass the swf the user's settings to make the SWF unique each time?
