Flex :: Create A Popup Without A Browser Toolbar?

I'm trying to launch a popup window from Flex, but the popup window needs to have certain properties as one can usually specify with the JavaScript window.open. For example, the popup window should not have a browser toolbar or URL box.I've tried using navigateToURL, which works fine, but I can't find a way to specify the popup window properties've tried using ExternalInterface.call, but the popup gets blocked when calling window.open directly, or even creating a custom JS function that calls window.open.

a datagrid which renders some items. clicking on an item would bring up a popup editor (as the item has lots of properties and may not be edited right in the datagrid).
the popup contains just a form and a [Bindable] reference to the item it edits (which is passed from itemClick handler of the datagrid). form's default values are taken by binding to corresponding item properties with {} notion, while form values are bound back to the item using mx:Binding tags.
and now the problem. when the popup is brought up for the first time, everything is fine. however, when after being closed the popup is brought up again by clicking on the same item, the browser hangs (afaik because of change watchers being endlessly fired resulting in stackoverflow or something similar).
we have same behaviour in Safari, IE and Chrome, so i guess it's not to do with something browser-related. removing either [Bindable] from the item reference in the popup or mx:Binding tags from editors suppresses the problem, but of course the editing no longer works.

If you create a popup via:[code]It will create a popup and bring it on top of any other visual piece. I have one problem though. This 'popup' needs to stay up even when the user interacts with the background.I would use modal, but I need the ability to interact with the back. Any way to tell the popup manager not to remove the popup when the user clicks off of it?

I'm trying to create a website that is basically a flash toolbar that directs the user to different HTML pages at the bottom, much like this website here.

Do I build the bar in Flash and then the HTML portion in dreamweaver or do I build it all in Flash? Would an iFrame work for this sort of website?

I need to close the popup(adobe flex), non modal window if I click on the parent page of the popup. I have to do the out of focus check and then do some validation before close the popup. So what I was thinking that is there any inbuilt focus check event or do we need to create custom event for that?

I have a web application which contains a data grid. Double clicking on any row of that grid will open a popup (lets call it popup1). Now this popup1 again opens a new popup(lets call it popup2). When I close the popup2, I need pass an Object to popup1. Which is the easiest way to do that?
(PS: While opening popup2 from popup1, I am adding an event listener on Close event of popup2)

I have a parsley popup that can create another popup.The issue comes when I close the root popup, when I open the popup again and click on the child popup, it's actually opening 2 child popups.Any idea why this thing happen?

I needed a file upload feature. I pretty much just copy pasted the code from the flash help and when rendering, flash would show the file browser window when rendered in flash.However, when displaying the swf in the browser, either on my local laptop server or FTP-ed up on my server, the popup would not pop(up).why does it run when publish/test it in flash?

I have created a picture gallery within Flash with 20 or so small pictures. When I click on a picture, I would like to open a page called "picture.html" with attributes. Ive got it working, sort-of, with the following code I found here on this site
in my button I have:

Anyway, its working fine, except I would like to know if its possible to have only 1 "picture.html" file for all my 20 pictures in the photo gallery.
I know that somewhere within picture.html, I need to open an image.jpg. I would like to pass the big picture's file name to the picture.html page from the flash button. So, how would I pass "picture1.jpg" to "picture.html", and within "picture.html" how would I open an image from a variable?

I'm using very successfully the "loadVars.send()", using the POST method. BUT I did not expect to see a popup browser window!? I can shut it down using another javascript, but get a confirmation message (because I didn't open up that unwanted browser window using js)... Is there any way I can call a loadVars send without the popup browser window? I am using: myVars.send ("Aurora.php", "POST"); Using: myVars.send("Aurora.php", "_blank", "POST"); or myVars.send ("Aurora.php", "", "POST"); gets me the same pop up window.

I am trying to figure out how to make buttons on my flash file link to URLs that appear in a window of fixed dimensions (with scroller bars) next to my Flash window. I am aware that Adobe has instructions for creating pop-up browser windows through Flash [URL]. However, what I'm trying to do is a bit more complicated, since I want to have multiple embedded invisible buttons in the Flash window that each take you to a specific URL when you click on them. Alternatively I'd be happy if any button click resulted in a link to a random selection from a pre-programmed list of URLs. This is for ActionScript 3.

how to open a PDF in Flash CS5 that will launch into a popup browser window. In CS3/CS4 I used the "geturl" command and it worked perfect. In CS5, the geturl command always wants to open a url (ex. [URL]) instead of a local file on my drive. Is there any way around this to make it work like the older versions of Flash? Basically stop it from trying to launch the [URL]?

I have my flash site working ok, but want the pop up browsers that are sized to pop up in the centre of the screen, instead of the bottom! Anyone know how to fix this? I'm using the following code on buttons:

I have a flash application that utilizes a lot of popup title windows that do not have parent containers. I'm having a problem when users with smaller resolutions try to use my application because the popup utility windows will often be too large. Note that I do not want to re-size the window as that would eliminate a lot of it's clarity and separation of menu bars and tool icons. I just want my application to detect if the window has a height or width property greater than that of the browser's view frame and then activate the respective scroll bar should it be needed.

I'm developing an application for the Blackberry Playbook using Flash Burrito 4.5 and Flex. I'd like to create a file browser to allow users to load images from the local system into the application. I followed this example [URL] When I click on the Load Image button in the simulator however, the file browser pops up but tells me that "no file was found with the specified filter", even though I don't specify any filter or even if I specify a . filter.

I need to have an .swf running for a game. Within this .swf there will be a "Help" button, which, when clicked, needs to create a new popup window from a different .swf file. Using Flash CS3, AS3. Trying to create a popup book effect. Have made some progress. Now what I'd like to do is play regular Flash timeline animations from within the Papervision movie clips.For example, the popup book opens and vector animations play as regular flash timeline animations from within the Papervison movie clips. Is this possible to do? I've read until my eyeballs are falling out but can't figure out how to play a simple timeline animation from within a Papervision movie clip. I used the tutorial to create a centered popup window as explained in the tutorial below http:[url].... , and it worked just fine in IE and Thunderbird.What i wanted to do next was to make that popup fill the entire screen, and I did that by changing the width and height values in the AS to screen.width/height, and that worked perfectly in Thunderbird, but it doesn't work in IE.
PS. The status bar at the bottom of the window stays there no matter the value I assign it in both of the browsers; why is that?
