Flex :: Popup Editor For Datagrid Items - Hangs The Browser

a datagrid which renders some items. clicking on an item would bring up a popup editor (as the item has lots of properties and may not be edited right in the datagrid).
the popup contains just a form and a [Bindable] reference to the item it edits (which is passed from itemClick handler of the datagrid). form's default values are taken by binding to corresponding item properties with {} notion, while form values are bound back to the item using mx:Binding tags.
and now the problem. when the popup is brought up for the first time, everything is fine. however, when after being closed the popup is brought up again by clicking on the same item, the browser hangs (afaik because of change watchers being endlessly fired resulting in stackoverflow or something similar).
we have same behaviour in Safari, IE and Chrome, so i guess it's not to do with something browser-related. removing either [Bindable] from the item reference in the popup or mx:Binding tags from editors suppresses the problem, but of course the editing no longer works.

I am trying to figure out how to open a pop up window in my Air application, in a secondary Window, instead of the main application window.I am using the ReusableFX components, which include a custom DataGrid with filtering and other capabilities. The filtering feature displays a pop up window via PopUpManager when you click on the top of a column in the grid.
PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, FlexGlobals.topLevelApplication as DisplayObject);
The problem is that the pop up window opens in the main application - I am assuming because of the 'topLevelApplication' reference.So, I need a way to open this window in the current Air "s:Window". I am assuming I need a way to walk up : this.parent.parent or this.owner.owner - though I have tried that and it did not seem to work (it said null reference).OR, is there a way to get the current top most window / component (NOT the main application / window)?
Update:I decided to create a new project for the component, and add in the Air libraries. Now I am able to access the "NativeApplication.nativeApplication.activeWindow" call. That gives me the correct Air window. However, it does not seem to be working:
PopUpManager.addPopUp(this, NativeApplication.nativeApplication.activeWindow as DisplayObject);
My popup does not appear. I am assuming because "activeWindow" is not actually a DisplayObject?(so how do I get the DisplayObject if that's the case?)

I want a spark datagrid that allow a user to input numbers only. They can only input number with up to 5 decimal places. I am struggling with this in Spark. I can do it in Flex by using the itemEditEnd parameter of the MX DataGrid.
How do I do this is Spark? Any pointers would be great.

My application has a tree with a custom item renderer, which depending on the type of data at a leaf uses different components as editors. In one case I am trying to use a datagrid so that the user can choose a row that meets his needs (several columns need to be displayed), ie. similar in concept to a ComboBox.To do this I have a function assigned to be the handler for 'itemEditBegin' (for the tree) in which I'm dynamically creating the datagrid, and then using the popup manager to display it as a (modal) popup. So far so good.
However, if you click anywhere (eg. scroll down button in the datagrid) the popup disappears because the itemEditEnd event is fired - why ?In another scenario, I have a DateField setup as the editor, and the user can click on the icon to bring up a DateChooser, scroll through the months, etc. I looked at the code behind this, and it is using a popup, seemingly in exactly the same way as my code !Here is the 'itemEditBegin' code:

I have a data grid with a custom item editor that displays a DropDownList component. When I click the scroll bar in the component, it is firing a focus out event on the list, which is causing itemEditEnd to fire. Why the list is not keeping focus, or how to make it keep focus. I'm using Flex 4.

I have a DataGrid with info like this:
Associate AmountTimeCustomer
John Doe 29amSam Smith
John Doe 210amBerry Cooper
Bill Ace 19amSandy James
Repeating the name and amount gets redundant so I would like it to look something like this:
Associate Amount
John Doe 2
Bill Ace 1
Then when you select one, it expands to show the times and customers for the selected associate. I hope this makes sense...I am currently just using a DataGrid but I can use an AdvancedDataGrid if thats needed...I am pretty sure something like this can be done, I just don't know how.My data is in xml and looks like this:

I want to sort items in the datagrid alphabetically by name.The order should be:
1) The name should first check for upeercase of the name if it is not then it should look for lowercase for the same letter alphabetically.
For example : if i have array of items say{Apple,boy,ant,Bat) then after sorting the list shld be

I'm trying to launch a popup window from Flex, but the popup window needs to have certain properties as one can usually specify with the JavaScript window.open. For example, the popup window should not have a browser toolbar or URL box.I've tried using navigateToURL, which works fine, but I can't find a way to specify the popup window properties've tried using ExternalInterface.call, but the popup gets blocked when calling window.open directly, or even creating a custom JS function that calls window.open.

I'm trying to do something with eventListeners, but i still do a lot of messy code, so wanted help of those who already know flex.
I'm have a DataGrid, and its itens are added by another component, no problems with that.
I have buttons to Add, Remove and Edit the items inside the DataGrid. No problem with that too.
But i want those button to be enabled when the DataGrid as at least one item, and when it doesn't as any, all three buttons should be disabled.
EDIT: Forgot to say: I think eventListeners are the best way.

I am trying to display a list of items in a datagrid from a XMLList.

My current code allows me to retrieve every Series into an XMLList and then i have a nesteddatagrid class that allows me to do things like.

However this displays the datagrid with two rows, the first row has 1 in the Series column and then the two files crammed into the second cell in the same row. The second row is the same but has the number 2 in the Series column and the two series #2 files crammed into the cell next to it.If i do not use the nested data class i can pull the files using Series.file instead and all 4 of the files list correctly, however i do not get the Series number for each...

Is there a way to have ungrouped and grouped items mixed in the same datagrid?
For example, think of a grid that lists the root items on a C: drive.
Obviously, we would want the Directory Structure to be group and expandable. But the files on the root drive would also be shown on the list, however they would not be grouped.

I have a DataGrid where some number of the columns can have a labelFunction. The nature of the labelFunction result can change problematically(eg apply formatting,bypass formatting. How do I get the DataGrid to re-render the visible items so that the labelFunction will be run again to get the new data.I've tried the invalidateDisplayList, validateNow, and tried dispatching ResizeEvents on the DataGrid.

If you create a popup via:[code]It will create a popup and bring it on top of any other visual piece. I have one problem though. This 'popup' needs to stay up even when the user interacts with the background.I would use modal, but I need the ability to interact with the back. Any way to tell the popup manager not to remove the popup when the user clicks off of it?

I have a datagrid with different types of columns, like I have checkboxes, combo boxes and text Inputs as the column types. Now I want one of the column type to a link, with the label "view". All the rows in that column are link with the same label "View" and on clicking it, I want a Pop up window to be opened?

do you know any browser-side component, in HTML/Javascript, Flash, Applet or Silverlight, that would allow source code edition with syntax highlighting and auto-completion.
CodeMirror has a good syntax highlighting support but does not seem to support auto-completion.If no such editor exists do you know any way to implement auto-completion using HTML and javascript or any other browser-side technology ?

I need to close the popup(adobe flex), non modal window if I click on the parent page of the popup. I have to do the out of focus check and then do some validation before close the popup. So what I was thinking that is there any inbuilt focus check event or do we need to create custom event for that?

I have a web application which contains a data grid. Double clicking on any row of that grid will open a popup (lets call it popup1). Now this popup1 again opens a new popup(lets call it popup2). When I close the popup2, I need pass an Object to popup1. Which is the easiest way to do that?
(PS: While opening popup2 from popup1, I am adding an event listener on Close event of popup2)

I have a parsley popup that can create another popup.The issue comes when I close the root popup, when I open the popup again and click on the child popup, it's actually opening 2 child popups.Any idea why this thing happen?

I needed a file upload feature. I pretty much just copy pasted the code from the flash help and when rendering, flash would show the file browser window when rendered in flash.However, when displaying the swf in the browser, either on my local laptop server or FTP-ed up on my server, the popup would not pop(up).why does it run when publish/test it in flash?

I have created a picture gallery within Flash with 20 or so small pictures. When I click on a picture, I would like to open a page called "picture.html" with attributes. Ive got it working, sort-of, with the following code I found here on this site
in my button I have:

Anyway, its working fine, except I would like to know if its possible to have only 1 "picture.html" file for all my 20 pictures in the photo gallery.
I know that somewhere within picture.html, I need to open an image.jpg. I would like to pass the big picture's file name to the picture.html page from the flash button. So, how would I pass "picture1.jpg" to "picture.html", and within "picture.html" how would I open an image from a variable?
