Suppose I have two tabs in my app:

I go into Tab1, and start pushing other views onto the stack
navigator.pushView(Tab1View1)
navigator.pushView(Tab1View2)
and so on....
Now I want to jump directly, with NO TRANSITIONS, from one of the views deep in Tab1, into one of the views in Tab2. How do I do this?
I I have a view in Flex 3 where I use a tab navigator and a number of views inside the tab navigator. I need to be know which view was clicked because of it's one specific view then I need to take action, i.e. if view with id "secondTab" is clicked then do something.
I have set it up to be notified, my problem is that I need to be able to know what view it is. Calling tab.GetChildByName or a similar method seems to only get me back a TabSkin object.

does anyone know how to disable that slide animation and just have the action bar instantly change to whatever action bar the next view contains, but still do a slide navigation for the rest of the view. My Action bar doesn't change on every page so seeing the same image reload repetitively in the action bar.

In flex mobile projects, we have the spark.components.ViewNavigator component, but this isn't available on a pure AS3 mobile project. These two links are both making their own libraries for view navigation...

Here is how my movie is set up.
Frame one -> MovieClip #1
Frame two -> MovieClip #2
within each movieclip there are 10-15 frames.
Here's the problem. I want to be able to go from frame one in MovieClip#2 to the last frame in MovieClip#1, via a button click.
I Am trying to create a navigation system where the navigation(nav_mc) will slide into screen anytime the mouse is over the plash player and then slide out when the mouse is off the flash player.
I have achieved this quite easily using an invisible button(stage_btn) over the entire flash, with event handlers to initiate tweenlite tweens of the navigation in and out of screen on MOUSE_OVER and MOUSE_OUT
Now i have buttons in nav_mc, that dont receive focus if nav_mc is below the main stage_btn and if i bring stage_btn above the nav_mc it means that when i rollover nav_mc, then stage_mc looses focus and slides out with all my navigation buttons...
Any ideas on the best way to handle this situation - or go about doing the the entire ting in a different way?

I understand that all business logic related to a View resides in the Presentation Model associated with that view, however, I am confused when it comes to View specific logic.For example, I have an indicator that needs to be positioned relatively to list items depending on which list item is selected. Is it acceptable in the Presentation pattern to put the logic that will position the indicator in the View and simply have that logic run in reaction to a selectedIndex property changing in the presentation model?The reason I am considering this is that since the Presentation Model does not have a reference to the view it is difficult to come up with an ideal solution for manipulating view components.

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to create a custom tab navigator that has to look like. Also, when there's a rollover, the borders of the arrow have to be in blue (like the label in the current tab). For that purpose, I've created a custom component: a hbox containing a label and a canvas with 3 images inside (for the arrow tip that has to change depending on the currentState). Then, I thought of overlapping the components in order to get the blue highlight color (ex: arrow button 3 is over arrow button 4. The image of the arrow tip in button 3 will be transparent outside the arrow, so that we can see the black color of the following button).
I'm now trying to position the components inside the canvas ... but I cannot. After the creationComplete event, I assign the label text and I was calculating the coordonates of the component but it doesn't take into account the label width... -_-'
I am adding a tab navigator to a title window here. Once the title window is closed, it can be reopened using the button.But on opening the title window second time in this manner ,the content of the children of the Tab navigator(here, a label) is not visible.

My problem: I have a tab navigator, with many forms in each tab. But I have a single global save button.Problem is, if I don't open a Tab, it doesn't get initialized and therefore the forms it contains do not exist..
How Can I make it as if the user had clicked on every tab?
This is a general question on optimization technique and am more than willing to rewrite a majority of my code as I am moving a lot of it to a library.My concern applies not so much to flex performance as I have used methods that have reduced cpu/memory footprint so performance is quick when inside a view.The problem I have is with the navigator.pushView which seems slow, I do call my init function on creationComplete for the view but I have it factored so my init looks like:

I have one .mxml file (the Application) with a ViewStack (with 4 views) and a ControlBard, obviously I can change the views with it, but what I want to do is: in view #1 I have an image which I want to convert to a "hyperlink", so when I click it I go to View #2, is this doable? Also I would like to pass somehow some data (like a String) to that View #2 (lets say the it's a user avatar I click so I want to go to the second view which will show me his profile, that's why I need his name/id).

And the 3rd tab contains the combobox with values:"basic", "advanced". by default the vaule is displaying "default". When i select the linkbutton on the first tab, the "advanced"should be displayed in the comboBox on the 3rd tab. and the problem is , when click on the first tab link button , at that time the 3rd tab is not initialized. Bottom line is I don't always need to peer into SWC's, and I don't like having a 'default package' automatically created for me. Not sure why the interface wasn't made simpler, allowing access to more power and complexity only if necessary. I want to focus on the code, not on how to navigate and use the bells and whistles in the coding environment.
After reading James Ward's post I'm considering using a proxy rather than a crossdomain.xml file. I have a java app, which includes a flex applet, on one tomcat instance and a java web service on another tomcat instance. Does it make sense to have a single (Apache httpd) proxy handle requests for both the app and the web service, thus eliminating the cross domain restriction?how to deal with the cross domain issue are welcome.

I have an object being passed between flash and flex using the a custom event. I am importing a library in flex containing a copy of the object's class. The classes are identical. But when I attempt to access the object in flex I get this error:

I am getting the error when I pass the apiobject to serverApi.makeApiCall. That function takes a ApiObject as its parameter. Initially, the data object is created with with the apiObject key with a ApiObject as the value (done in flash).
I would like to tak emy existing AS3 or Flex project and compile it to run on native C++ code. Is there a way to do this? What sort of solutions exist? I do not want to change my AS3 code.

I have a website with a flex application. The flex application has no user input - except for clicks for navigation. The website also uses no scripting language - i.e. no php, asp, jsp or cfm.
The website just consists of one page which contains the flash file for the flex application. The source code of this page is here: [URL]
I have been advised (by a software program used by my client) that this website is vulnerable to a reflective type XSS attack and have been advised to 'sanitize' all user input.
respect to XSS and would respectfully like to ask that AFAIK there is no user input. What should I sanitize and how?
I'm about to have to write a web page/app that will serve the agenda for circa 100 people on a page. One line per person, one column per day with 3 clickable zones in each cell. In HTML, the page is way complex for the browser to load quick and there is no possibility to click on a border between 2 cells to for example split an event that spreads among several cells. So I search an not too overkilling technology to render this kind of view. I begun with a PHP generated HTML page but the number of elements in the page make the mouse move jerky.
Moving to JAVA would give me better performances regarding the reuse of the generator of the view but it will still be an HTML page. So, here is my question: do you think that going forward with JAVA and its graphical capability is the simple solution or is Flash a better option for this part of a Web App? I'm afraid of the code I'll have to write in JAVA to handle the GUI presentation as well as the events generated by the 1000's cells plus borders of the page. In Flash, the graphical part seems simpler even if the actions handling is still huge.
