I have a tooltip on a ComboBox but I much prefer the styling of the errorTipwith the "tail").I have replaced the tooltip with an errorTip, but now the ComboBox has a redborder.I'm still pretty much a newb... is there a way to override the red border on theComboBox so that its' border is back to good ol' black?
When a Validator (i.e. StringValidator, NumberValidator, etc) dispatches an invalid event due to validation failure, the errorString property of the source control (i.e. TextInput) is set to a non-empty string which creates a red border around the control and shows an toolTip (errorTip) ONLY when the mouse hovers over the control. Question: Can you force immediate display of the toolTip (errorTip) rather than waiting for the user to hover over the control? If so, how?
I'm trying to set a specific list item in a mx combobox to have a custom item renderer, the problem is that I cannot do this via mxml, it needs to be done via actionscript at a later stage, eg: combobox gets created, combobox gets populated, user does other tasks, combobox needs to set one or more items in the combobox to have icons (via item renderer)..
I can do this via the onChange event, but it only applies the icon when the combobox is opened and there is a slight delay so you can see the icon being added.
I'm trying to setup a DataGrid that contains a column of combo boxes. The values of the combo boxes are defined by data specific to that row. I cannot get this to work though, I'm asking for a solution to this, either fixing what I have below or a recommendation on a different way.One of the columns of my DataGrid has an object derived from a ComboBox for an ItemEditor. The itemEditor is set like this:
I want the comboBox to be placed in one of the columns of the datagrid header.The datagrid should be filtered according to the value selected in the comboBox.e.
i have combobox in one screen(namely 1) and i need to pass the selected value of the combobox to the another combobox which is in the another screen(namely 2) and the passed value should be selected by default.
How can you make a ComboBox where the user can select null?If you simply create a combobox with null in the dataprovider, the value appears but the user cannot select it:[code]Is there a way to make that null selectable?A workaround is to add an item into the dataProvider that is not null but 'represents' null; and then map between null and that object every time you access the combobox. But that's not really an elegant solution; you would always have to keep this mapping in mind in all code that accesses a 'nullable' combobox.It could be done in a subclass of course, but either I introduce new attributes (like nullableSelectedItem); but then you have to be careful to always use these attributes. Or I override ComboBoxes selectedItem; but I'm affraid that is going to break the base class: it might not like something changing its idea of what the current selected item is from within. And even this fragile hack works, on top of selectedItem and dataProvider this nullItem then also needs to be handled special in data and listData for renderers, in labelFunction, and then it's probably still being exposed in events the ComboBox sends.It might work, but it's quite a hack just to fix the problem that if the user clicks on the item it isn't activated (for the rest the ComboBox handles null fine).(Another alternative is to have a ui component delegate to a ComboBox, but that's even much more code just to avoid this small problem)
I have a data grid that has ComboBoxes in two of its columns.
What I need to do is get the values of those bombo boxes when a user highlights the row of the grid NOT when the user uses the comboBox. I understand how to pull the values out once the change handler is invoked on the comboBox, but I'm not seeing a way to get at the comboBoxes that belong to the currently highlighted gridRow.
I'm sure it's really straight forward, but I'm just not able to find any reference on how it's done.
I'm stumbling my way through designing my first Flex app, using Flex Builder 4 Beta 2. I'm trying to use a ComboBox, but they always seem to have lines around it and I can't figure out how to get rid of them. The ComboBox looks like this: [URL] All I did was drag the ComboBox from the Controls section in the Design section of the UI onto the screen. I haven't changed any settings, no special css, just used the default ComboBox and this is what I get.
I have a DataGrid with a ComboBox as an ItemRenderer for one of my columns. When the user selects a row, I want to get the ComboBox's selected value for the selected row.
EDIT: I should have mentioned that the dataField2_Array property in myData is actually an Array is the dataProvider for the ComboBox. Each object in myData could have completely different values in that Array so the ComboBox in each row of the DataGrid could have completely different options to pick from.Some sample code:
I need a custom Combobox in flex(as an ActionScript file), where I need to display in dropdown all the data nodes in the dataprovider as comma seperated values and when selecting only display one single node/value in textInput. How can we implemented this.
When setting an arrayCollection as a dataProvider to a comboBox programmatically,if the arrayCollection has just one element,i need to do a small validation[code]..
I have a one comboBox that I fill as: for (var key:String in values) { conns.addItem(key); }
After that I sorted my ComboBox as: private function sortConnection():void { var dataSortField:SortField = new SortField(); dataSortField.name = "data"; dataSortField.numeric = true; var numericDataSort:Sort = new Sort(); numericDataSort.fields = [dataSortField]; conns.sort = numericDataSort; conns.refresh(); }
And on finish I want to select item on my specific value in ComboBox. How can I do that? I try: for (var ii:Number=0; ii<combo.rowCount; ii++) { var item:String = combo.getChildAt(ii); if (item == name) { index = ii; }} But does not work. I do not know where I made mistake, and how I can select on specific item in my combobox.
I am using a combobox to list the contents of a folder. With a button click I use that combobox.selectedItem to delete that folder. After I delete the data is still in the combobox. How do I go about refreshing that combobox?
I am using flex when i was select combobox item i want to create new form for eg. when i select 1 it will appear one form when i select 2 it will appear two.so and so....
How can I filter a datagrid based on the value in the combo box? Can anyone show me some good examples on it?
In my application, I already filter a datagrid based on the text entered by the user. I check if the entered string matches the column entry of the datagrid and if a match is found,the filterFunction on the dataprovider is called.
searchCriteria is the comboBox,where I have the items, "ALL","HIGH"...I have two rows with value "high" and I get the Alert "yes" for two times only.. But in the data grid all the four rows are displayed.
I have a script that parses some complex XML. When the XML element is of a certain type, it generates a comboBox using the XML element's children to populate the box. I then want to check all of the values of the all the generated ComboBoxes against their correct answers (which is also info stored in the XML file). When creating the ComboBoxes, I added an "id" property. However, it seems that I cannot them use:
dynamicQuestion.id.selectedItem.labelField
to check the answers. However, I am able to get the labelField if I know the variable name used to create the ComboBox.
dynamicQuestion.selectedItem.labelField
This indicates (to me) that I need to dynamically generate the variable name as I'm creating new instances of the ComboBox. But how do I dynamically generate a variable name? If I use
var thisBox:String = "box"+boxCount; var newBox:ComboBox = thisBox as ComboBox;
I get an implicit coercion error. I also tried changing the creation statement to a function that accepted an argument, "thisBox," but this didn't work either. Conceptually, this seems quite simple, but I'm having a hard time putting it to practice. It seems that the comboBox's id is what is generated by created the box using script (e.g., var thisBox). How do I dynamically generate this name?
Trying to set the up and down state icons of a Flex Combobox to images. I see the property for changing the color of the icon, but no property to skin it. How can I do this?
I'm trying to set a combobox's dataprovider.I have 2 comboboxes: cb_div and cb_stores.For cb_div, I get to set the data provider correctly with an XML file.Cb_stores' dataprovider is to be set depending on the selected item of cb_div.First, here are my XML files.Data provider for cb_div:
Short version: ComboBox's dropdown works and renders properly before fullscreen, but not during or after. I'm not totally sure how to ask this, so I've actually made a page demonstrating the error, with a very simple Flex app, and all three directions you need to experience the problem yourself.
For those of you not daring enough to follow my link above, I'll do my best to explain here. I've built a rather extensive Flex application (not the one in the link) that has some graphs and charts and checkboxes and other controls for those charts. At the bottom of app in a few of the application States, there is a ComboBox (like a <select> tag in HTML). Because this is at the very bottom, when you click it to access it's dropdown menu, Flex thoughtfully has it come out of the top.
I have a combobox implementation as follows - Based on user input (min 2 chars) in the editable combobox, the data provider is refreshed and drop-down opened, showing different data sets as user input varies.Problem is that after drop-down opens, the cursor moves back to the beginning. So for instance, the user types in "ab", and wants to type in "c" to form the search string "abc". Due to the cursor re-setting its position to 0, the search string instead ends up as "cab".Here's what I tried already (doesn't work) : textInput.mx_internal::getTextField().setSelection(index, index);
where index = length of user input. This selects text from index to index (which effectively un-selects text) and is supposed to place the cursor at the end.
I have a project that was compiled with the Flex 3.2 SDK. One of my components is a combobox, which is bound to a property (called products) in the Cairngorm model. If I insert a new value into model.products, then the combobox immediately shows the new value. Works perfectly.
I then moved to the 3.5 SDK, and running the identical operation causes a problem. Even though the model has been updated (I have verified that this is definately the case), the combobox does not show the new value correctly - it seems to be aware that there is a new item because there is a new row in the combo, but the new row is blank and unselectable. The existing items in the combo are there and selectable (as they should be). If I re-initialising the form (i.e. close and re-open the TitleWindow on which the combo is located), then all the correct values (including the new one) are shown in the combo.
I have swapped back and forth a few times between 3.2 and 3.5 to verify that this is indeed the root cause.
I have a flex combobox as a datagrid itemEditor. However, after selecting an item in the combobox, its necessary to click out of the combo (i.e. into another cell or elsewhere in the app) for the value to be committed to the combo. Prior to this, the combo sits 'proud' of the datagrid and the value hasnt actually been committed.
Is there a way to force the value to be immediately committed after an item has been selected and for the combo to 'lose focus'?
I have a combobox with multi selection. when i click on add button, which ever data is selected in the Combobox, those data has to be displayed in the another comboBox.
I am simulating a multi-column combobox by introducing spaces between each column, such that all rows for the 3 columns should appear in a single line. The gap in this implementation is that due to the varying widths of characters, this spacing technique does not work. How to set the combobox characters to have the same width? The other approach is to calculate the width occupied by characters in each column and then set the start position of the next column. How to achieve this?
