Flex :: 3 - Force Display Of Control's ErrorTip (error ToolTip) On Validation Failure

When a Validator (i.e. StringValidator, NumberValidator, etc) dispatches an invalid event due to validation failure, the errorString property of the source control (i.e. TextInput) is set to a non-empty string which creates a red border around the control and shows an toolTip (errorTip) ONLY when the mouse hovers over the control. Question: Can you force immediate display of the toolTip (errorTip) rather than waiting for the user to hover over the control? If so, how?

I have a Flex 3 app with a view in a viewstack, and that view must only be created when requested. I have declared validators for each of the controls on the view and I have created a method called checkAllValid() which runs Validator.validateAll(). This works great when I'm actually using the controls (using the change or focusOut events), but how can I get checkAllValid() to run when the view is first displayed to the user, so that they are immediately shown what is invalid once the data is populated in the controls?
I have tried putting the call in various events on the view itself (e.g. creationComplete, updateComplete, show, activate, etc.) but it always shows the following error when I start the application:
'The source attribute must be specified when the property attribute is specified.'
I have also tried setting the creationPolicy on the view to "all" but this does not help.
Some of the validators are only enabled when the form is in a certain state, but I have eliminated that as being the potential problem by commenting out all of my validators except for this most simple one:

I have also tried calling the single validator directly rather than using validateAll and the result is the same.
There must be a way I can force the view to validate when it is shown....
(by the way it's in the Cairngorm MVC framework and I have data bound to the controls)

I'm displaying a list of buttons, some of which might be disabled. I need to show a tooltip on the disabled buttons with an explanation of why it's disabled, but it seems I can't disable the button without disabling the tooltip. Is there a simple way around this?

Within my component, I'm drawing some rectangles as below:

I need to display a custom tooltip for each rectange when the mouse cursor is hovering over it.
How can I do this? I'm using the MouseMove event to track when the cursor moves over these coordinates (that part is working), but when I change the tooltip text it's not refreshing

EDIT: The problem seems to be with the following line:
ToolTipManager.destroyToolTip(_myToolTip);
If I comment out the preceding line, it will display the new tooltip, but it will keep creating new ones and the old ones never get removed. But if I add that line, it doesn't add any tooltips! Is the code not being executed sequentially, i.e., is the code to remove the tooltip somehow getting executed after the code to add the tooltip?

I have an AdvancedDataGrid that uses HierarchicalData to display data in a tree format. For one of the columns, I'm using an AdvancedDataGridRendererProvider to conditionally display an image if certain conditions are met. I'm currently using the ToolTipManager to display additional information if the user mouses over the image.Here's what I would like to do:Instead of showing the toolTip when the user places their mouse over the image, I would like to automatically display the toolTip whenever the image is visible in the AdvancedDataGrid. If the user scrolls through the AdvancedDataGrid, the toolTip should move and follow along with its image accordingly.
Sample AdvancedDataGrid:

I'd like to use tooltips with the same design as the error/validation tooltips (rounded box with a tip pointing to the mouse's position).Given the name "error/validation tooltips", it bothers me to use them as normal tooltips.I haven't found people having the same "principles" issue as myself..So, is it that bad to use the error/validation tooltips as normal tooltips? And, if yes, what would be the easiest way to re-use its design without rewriting much code?

I've created a custom textInput componenet that handles it's own validation using a private validator. The validation is enabled depending on the state of the component i.e. validation is enable when the components state is "edit".However, when the state changes from edit the internal validator is set to not enabled but the validation errors on the textbox do not clear - the textInput still has the red border and on mouseover the validation errors come up. What I want to happen is that when a validator is disabled the error formatting and error messages clear from the text input control.
Does anyone have any idea how to do this I tried setting the internal validator instance to enabled = false and dispatching a new focusOutEvent as below but the validation error formatting is still applied to the textInput contrl.

I'm creating an errorTip that gets displayed when the user mouses over an image. I would like the popup to appear to the left of the image, but the only properties I can pass to create the toolTip are "errorTipRight", "errorTipAbove" and "errorTipBelow".

I have text input boxes. There is validation for each of the boxes using numberValidator. Now, the thing is that am using alert box to show if any error occurs.
Flowchart ::
1> Insert value in textBox.
2> NumberValidator validates the input on "trigger=change".
3> If error, alert message is displayed. The user clicks OK to go back to form.
4> Focus set back to the TextBox.
5> But, alert box makes the text input value blank / null. i.e. Both the previous error value entered by user and the default correct value will not be displayed now.
Display the most recent correct value that was entered in the text box. Not the default of any other, but the most recent correct value entered by the user.

I have a form with a horizontal layout and with this TextInput:

I have a simple validator that just checks if there is something entered (required field). My problem is as the layout is horizontal, when an error occurred (required file missing), all form items are shifted because of the error icon. Is there a way to delete that annoying icon or force the component to not display it?

Ok so my document class loads pictures and adds them every so interval once they're done loading. So when the next picture loads, it will be higher on the display list than the picture previous to it(on the left). So if a child(a tooltip) of the previous picture(on the left) appears over the picture to the right, the tooltip will always appear underneath that following picture, since the tooltip is a child of the previous picture.how do i get it to appear above everything? (addChildAt won't work) . i need a quick fix, is there a way to get my document class to add that tooltip ?

Does anyone know what I need to do to get a flex text control to display cyrillic characters for example. [wvxvw? hebrew?] In addtion to the main .swf (.mxml) file there are font libraries loaded that are also in a seperate .swf The text control is subclassed from Flex.Text and in a seperated .AS file. Then to top it, the actual text in cyrillic is coming from an .xml file.I've tried "<?xml version="1.0" encoding='UTF-8' " in the main .mxml file and the xml file. I believe I've put Byte Order Marks (BOM's) for utf-8 in the .AS file and maybe some of the other files. I've compiled everything with specifying the utf-8 encoding as well. I get nothing where the characters are supposed to be.

I'm attempting to take a process that previously ran multiple remote object calls in parallel and make them run in serial.I know it's a hackish approach (bandaid!), but so far my approach has been to take this for-loop that started each parallel request:[code]Where _pause_queue is a private global boolean for the class. In the fault-handler and response-handler functions, it is set back to false, so that the infinite where-loop is released and the for loop will continue.This is functional, but the UI only updates after the while-loop ends, which causes the negative side effect that it looks like the application is hung while waiting for a response.
Is there something I can put inside the while loop to allow flash to update the display? In VB (ugh!) I would use DoEvents, but I don't know of an equivalent for Actionscript.Alternately, is there a way to add a simple queueing system short of completely rewriting the application? This is legacy code and I'm on a tight deadline so I'd like to modify it as little as possible. (Otherwise I would rewrite it from the ground up and use Swiz to get the Event Chaining.)

I'm trying to include some JavaScript (JSON 2, to be precise)in with some ActionScript 3 classes. I'm using the inline XML method (E4X) of declaring the data. It looks like this:

Actually, this is only about a quarter of what I need to include but this is where it breaks down. Right after the second slash in the last line, Flash reports: TypeError: Error #1091: XML parser failure: Unterminated CDATA section.
In fact, as you can see this is a perfectly valid CDATA section and isn't being terminated anywhere (there is no instance of "]]>" anywhere in the data). Unfortunately, Flash doesn't think so and seems to think that the backslash is an XML node directive. how to effectively deal with this? The JSON source code has *many* backslashes so not having to convert them would be *very* useful.

I am trying to set up DVR streaming using FLME. I'm following this tutorial: http:[url]........I'm up to Step 2,
I put in the following information into the FLME:
FMS URL: rtmp://222.222.222.222/dvrcast_origin
Stream: mp4:sample.f4v
Then click 'Connect' , but I get an error "Failure to connect to primary server verify that your server URL and application name are valid and that your internet connection is working and retry". My server is a 32-bit windows 2007 VPS , with FMS running.I don't know if I set up the DVR Cast application correct. All I did was copy the dvrcast_origin into the installationdirectory/applications, then I started a new instance of dvrcast_origin with _definst_...Also, I am running the trial version of FMS, and DVR needs FMIS. Is there a way I can just run FMIS?
